Oh, hello.

Are you ready to practice some English speaking?

Fabulous, because I have an intermediate level conversation all prepared for you.

So I'll go through the whole thing first, then we can take roles.

I'll play one part, you play the other, and then we can swap.

Let's start.

SARAH: Well, that was stressful.

Is Max feeling any better now?

TOM: Yeah, much better.

The vet gave him an injection to reduce the swelling and they said he

should be back to normal by tomorrow.

SARAH: That's a relief.

I was really worried when I saw his face all puffed up like that.

It must have been terrifying for you.

TOM: It was.

At first I thought he'd just yelped because of the sting but then his face

started swelling and he kept scratching.

I panicked.

I had no idea dogs could be allergic to bee stings.

SARAH: Neither did I. But I suppose it makes sense.

Some people react badly to them too.

TOM: Yeah, the vet said it's actually quite common.

If he ever gets stung again, I need to watch him closely

in case it happens again.

SARAH: Did they give you anything to take home?

TOM: They gave me some antihistamine tablets to give him over the next couple

of days, just to be on the safe side.

SARAH: That's good.

Will he need a follow up appointment?

TOM: No, not unless he gets worse, but the vet said I should always carry

antihistamines with me, just in case.

SARAH: That's probably a good idea.

At least now you know what to do if it happens again.

TOM: Yeah, but I still feel awful.

I should have reacted quicker.

SARAH: Don't be too hard on yourself, Tom.

You got him to the vet as soon as you realised something was wrong.

And now he's safe.

TOM: I suppose you're right.
