Present Perfect: Active & Passive | Participle Adjectives | Advanced English Grammar

The fact that the Past Participle is used in Perfect tenses, the Passive Voice,

過去分詞が 完了時制、受動態

and also sometimes as an adjective can be very confusing.

、時には形容詞として使用されるという事実は、非常に混乱を招く可能性があります。

So, in this lesson we're going to review these three uses of the Past Participle form.

So, let's start by looking at the active to passive formulation.

それでは、アクティブからパッシブへの定式化を見てみましょう。

Remember that a key point is that we must respect the tense.

重要な点は、時制を尊重しなければならないということです。

For example, if the active sentence is: Someone opens the window every day (Present Simple).

たとえば、アクティブ センテンスが次の場合: 誰かが毎日窓を開ける (Present Simple)。

The passive is: The window is opened every day.

受動態: 窓は毎日開けられます。

Present Simple for the verb 'to be'.

動詞「to be」の現在形。

So, now let's change the tense of the active sentence to Present Perfect.

それでは、アクティブ センテンスの時制を現在完了形に変更しましょう 。

So, someone has opened the window.

それで、誰かが窓を開けました。

What's the passive form?

受動態とは？

The passive form is: The window has been opened.

受動態は次のとおりです。窓が開いています。

The verb 'to be' is now in the Present Perfect tense, 'has been'.

動詞「to be」が現在完了形の「has been」になりました。

Right! An action has taken place. What's the result of this action?

右！ アクションが実行されました。 この行動の結果は？

The result is that the window is now open. 'Open' is an ordinary adjective.

その結果、ウィンドウが開いています。 「オープン」 は普通の形容詞です。

Right! Let's look at another example.

右！ 別の例を見てみましょう。

The active sentence is: I have booked our seats. What's the passive sentence?

アクティブな文は次のとおりです。座席を予約しました。 受身文とは？

The passive sentence is: Our seats have been booked.

受動文は次のとおりです。席は予約されています。

And what's the result?

で、結果は？

The result is that our seats are booked.

その結果、座席は予約済みです。

'Booked' is also an adjective. It describes what has happened to the seats.

「予約済み」も形容詞です。 シートに何が起こったのかを説明しています。

But, it's not an ordinary adjective, it's a participle adjective.

しかし、これは普通の形容詞ではなく、分詞形容詞です。

Right! Let's look at another example.

右！ 別の例を見てみましょう。

The active sentence is: She has completed all the tasks. What's the passive sentence?

アクティブな文は次のとおりです。彼女はすべてのタスクを完了しました。 受身文とは？

The passive form is: All the tasks have been completed.

受動態は次のとおりです。すべてのタスクが完了しました。

So, what's the result?

それで、結果はどうですか？

The result is that all the tasks are complete or completed.

その結果、すべてのタスクが完了または完了します。

In this situation, you have a choice of the ordinary adjective 'complete', or the participle adjective 'completed'.

この状況では 、通常の形容詞「完了」または分詞形容詞「完了」を選択できます。

If you use the ordinary adjective 'complete', you're only describing the noun.

通常の形容詞「完全な」を使用 すると、名詞のみを説明しています。

If you use the participle adjective 'completed',  you're showing that an action was carried out on the noun.

分詞形容詞「完了」を使用 すると、名詞に対してアクションが実行されたことを示しています。

Right! Let's finish with two more examples to clarify the three uses of the past participle.

右！ 最後 に、過去分詞の 3 つの用法を明確にするために、さらに 2 つの例を挙げましょう。

Look at the first context.

最初のコンテキストを見てください。

Something like: I empty the bin daily.

みたいなこと：私は毎日ビンを空にします。

So, when someone asks you: Have you emptied the bin today? They're using 'empty' in the Present Perfect tense active.

それで、誰かがあなたに尋ねたとき: 今日ビンを空にしましたか? 彼らは現在完了時制アクティブで「空」を使用しています。

You can answer: Yes, it has been emptied.

あなたは答えることができます: はい、空になりました。 同じ時制の現在完了形

You're using 'emptied' in the passive voice of the same tense, Present Perfect.

の受動態で「emptied」を使用しています 。

Or, you can just describe the state of the bin: It's emptied.

または、単にビンの状態を説明することもできます: 空です。

You're using the Past Participle as an adjective here. A participle adjective.

ここでは過去分詞を形容詞として使用しています。 分詞形容詞。

But, because the ordinary adjective 'empty'  also exists, you can say: It is empty.

しかし、通常の形容詞「空」 も存在するため、「それは空です」と言うことができます。

Right! Let's look at one final context to make this perfectly clear.

右！ これを完全に明確にするために、最後のコンテキストを 1 つ見てみましょう。

Let's say that you do the shopping every week.

あなたが毎週買い物をしているとしましょう。

So, when someone asks you: Have you done the shopping this week?

それで、誰かがあなたに尋ねたら： 今週買い物をしましたか？

They're using 'done', the past participle, in the Present Perfect tense in the active form.

過去分詞の「done」 を現在完了形でアクティブな形で使用しています。

If you answer: Yes, it has been done. You're using 'done', the past participle, in the passive form of the Present Perfect tense.

答えた場合: はい、完了しています。 過去分詞の「done」を現在完了形の受動態で使用しています。

Or, you can simply say: It is done.

または、単に「完了しました」と言うことができます。

Now, you're using 'done', the past participle, as a participle adjective.

ここで、過去分詞の「done」を分詞形容詞として使用しています 。

And in this case, there is no ordinary adjective to describe the result.

この場合、結果を説明する通常の形容詞はありません。
