Present Perfect: Active & Passive | Participle Adjectives | Advanced English Grammar

The fact that the Past Participle is used in Perfect tenses, the Passive Voice,

과거 분사가 완료 시제, 수동태,

and also sometimes as an adjective can be very confusing.

때로는 형용사로도 사용된다는 사실은 매우 혼란스러울 수 있습니다.

So, in this lesson we're going to review these three uses of the Past Participle form.

So, let's start by looking at the active to passive formulation.

그럼 능동에서 수동으로 공식을 살펴보는 것으로 시작하겠습니다.

Remember that a key point is that we must respect the tense.

요점은 시제를 존중해야 한다는 것입니다.

For example, if the active sentence is: Someone opens the window every day (Present Simple).

예를 들어 활성 문장이 다음과 같은 경우: 누군가 매일 창을 엽니다(Present Simple).

The passive is: The window is opened every day.

수동태는 다음과 같습니다. 창이 매일 열립니다.

Present Simple for the verb 'to be'.

동사 'to be'에 대해 Simple을 제시합니다.

So, now let's change the tense of the active sentence to Present Perfect.

이제 활성 문장의 시제를 Present Perfect로 변경해 보겠습니다.

So, someone has opened the window.

그래서 누군가가 창을 열었습니다.

What's the passive form?

패시브 형식은 무엇입니까?

The passive form is: The window has been opened.

수동태는 다음과 같습니다. 창이 열렸습니다.

The verb 'to be' is now in the Present Perfect tense, 'has been'.

동사 'to be'는 이제 현재 완료 시제 'has been'입니다.

Right! An action has taken place. What's the result of this action?

오른쪽! 작업이 수행되었습니다. 이 조치의 결과는 무엇입니까?

The result is that the window is now open. 'Open' is an ordinary adjective.

그 결과 이제 창이 열립니다. 'Open'은 일반적인 형용사입니다.

Right! Let's look at another example.

오른쪽! 다른 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

The active sentence is: I have booked our seats. What's the passive sentence?

활성 문장은 다음과 같습니다. 좌석을 예약했습니다. 수동태 문장이 무엇인가요?

The passive sentence is: Our seats have been booked.

수동태 문장은 다음과 같습니다. 우리 좌석이 예약되었습니다.

And what's the result?

결과는 무엇입니까?

The result is that our seats are booked.

그 결과 좌석이 예약되었습니다.

'Booked' is also an adjective. It describes what has happened to the seats.

'예약'은 형용사이기도 합니다. 좌석에 무슨 일이 일어났는지 설명합니다.

But, it's not an ordinary adjective, it's a participle adjective.

하지만 일반 형용사가 아니라 분사형 형용사입니다.

Right! Let's look at another example.

오른쪽! 다른 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

The active sentence is: She has completed all the tasks. What's the passive sentence?

활성 문장은 다음과 같습니다. 그녀는 모든 작업을 완료했습니다. 수동태 문장이 무엇인가요?

The passive form is: All the tasks have been completed.

수동태는 다음과 같습니다. 모든 작업이 완료되었습니다.

So, what's the result?

결과는 무엇입니까?

The result is that all the tasks are complete or completed.

그 결과 모든 작업이 완료되었습니다.

In this situation, you have a choice of the ordinary adjective 'complete', or the participle adjective 'completed'.

이 상황 에서는 일반 형용사 '완료' 또는 분사 형용사 '완료'를 선택할 수 있습니다.

If you use the ordinary adjective 'complete', you're only describing the noun.

일반 형용사 '완료'를 사용 하는 경우 명사만 설명하는 것입니다.

If you use the participle adjective 'completed',  you're showing that an action was carried out on the noun.

분사 형용사 '완료됨'을 사용하는 경우 명사에 대해 작업이 수행되었음을 나타냅니다.

Right! Let's finish with two more examples to clarify the three uses of the past participle.

오른쪽! 과거 분사의 세 가지 용도를 명확히 하기 위해 두 가지 예를 더 살펴보고 마무리하겠습니다.

Look at the first context.

첫 번째 맥락을 살펴보세요.

Something like: I empty the bin daily.

예를 들면: 저는 매일 휴지통을 비웁니다.

So, when someone asks you: Have you emptied the bin today? They're using 'empty' in the Present Perfect tense active.

그래서 누군가 당신에게 묻는다면: 오늘 휴지통을 비웠나요? 그들은 현재 완료 시제에서 '비어 있음'을 사용하고 있습니다.

You can answer: Yes, it has been emptied.

다음과 같이 대답할 수 있습니다. 예, 비어 있습니다. 같은 시제

You're using 'emptied' in the passive voice of the same tense, Present Perfect.

의 수동태인 현재완료에서 'emptied'를 사용하고 있습니다.

Or, you can just describe the state of the bin: It's emptied.

또는 휴지통의 상태를 설명할 수 있습니다. 비었습니다.

You're using the Past Participle as an adjective here. A participle adjective.

여기서 형용사로 과거 분사를 사용하고 있습니다. 분사 형용사.

But, because the ordinary adjective 'empty'  also exists, you can say: It is empty.

그러나 일반적인 형용사 'empty' 도 존재하므로 비어있다고 말할 수 있습니다.

Right! Let's look at one final context to make this perfectly clear.

오른쪽! 이것을 완벽하게 명확하게 하기 위해 하나의 마지막 컨텍스트를 살펴보겠습니다.

Let's say that you do the shopping every week.

당신이 매주 쇼핑을 한다고 가정해 봅시다.

So, when someone asks you: Have you done the shopping this week?

그래서 누군가 당신에게 묻는다면: 이번 주에 쇼핑을 하셨나요? 능동형의 현재 완료 시제

They're using 'done', the past participle, in the Present Perfect tense in the active form.

에서 과거 분사인 'done'을 사용 하고 있습니다.

If you answer: Yes, it has been done. You're using 'done', the past participle, in the passive form of the Present Perfect tense.

대답한 경우: 예, 완료되었습니다. 현재 완료 시제 수동태의 과거 분사인 'done'을 사용하고 있습니다.

Or, you can simply say: It is done.

또는 단순히 다음과 같이 말할 수 있습니다. 완료되었습니다.

Now, you're using 'done', the past participle, as a participle adjective.

이제 과거 분사인 'done' 을 분사 형용사로 사용하고 있습니다.

And in this case, there is no ordinary adjective to describe the result.

그리고 이 경우 결과를 설명하는 일반적인 형용사는 없습니다.
