In this video, we’re going to talk about the prepositions: in, on and under.

このビデオでは、前置詞 in、on、under について説明します。

Now, we use prepositions to show ‘where’ something is.

さて、私たちは何かが「どこに」あるかを示すために前置詞を使います。

So, let’s take a look at the board.

それでは、基板を見てみましょう。

Okay, now in this picture, we have a cat.

さて、この写真には猫がいます。

Okay, and we’re talking about this specific cat, so we have to say, “the cat”.

さて、私たちはこの特定の猫について話しているので、「猫」と言わなければなりません。

Okay. “…is in the box.”

わかった。 「…箱の中にあります。」

Okay.

The preposition is ‘in’.

わかった。

前置詞は「in」です。

“He’s ‘in’ the box.” “…’in’ the box.”

「彼は箱の中にいます。」 "…'箱の中。"

Okay.

And the next one.

わかった。

そして次です。

“The cat is on…”

「猫は上にいます…」

The preposition ‘on’… “the chair”.

前置詞「上」…「椅子」。

“He’s on the chair.”

「彼は椅子に座っています。」

Okay.

And the next one.

そして次です。

“The cat is ‘under’…

「猫は

’under’ the table.”

テーブルの『下』にいます…テーブルの『下』にいます。」

“…’under’ the table.”

"…'テーブルの下に。"

Okay.

Let’s look at the next one.

次を見てみましょう。

Now we have plural nouns.

これで複数の名詞ができました。

“The apples ‘are’…”

「リンゴは『です』…」

Okay. “…in the box.”

わかりました。 "…箱の中。"

Again, the apples are “…’in’ the box.”

繰り返しますが、リンゴは「箱の中に入っています」。

Okay.

わかった。

Next, “The apples are ‘on’ the chair.”

次に、「リンゴは椅子の「上」にあります。」

And last.

そして最後。

“The apples are ‘under’….’under’ the table.”

「リンゴはテーブルの『下』にあります…。テーブルの『下』にあります。」

Okay, let’s look at some more examples.

“Where is the dog?”

“Where is the dog?”

“The dog is ‘in’ the doghouse.

「犬は犬小屋の中にいます。」

You should use the preposition ‘in’.

前置詞「in」を使用する必要があります。

“The dog is ‘in’ the doghouse.

「犬は犬小屋の中にいます。」

“Where is the man?”

「その男はどこにいるの？」

“Where is the man?”

「その男はどこにいるの？」

“The man is ‘under’ the umbrella.”

「その男は傘の『下』にいます。」

“The man is ‘under’ the umbrella.”

「その男は傘の『下』にいます。」

And last.

そして最後。

“Where are the girls?”

"彼女は何処に？"

“Where are the girls?”

"彼女は何処に？"

“The girls are ‘on’ the bridge.”

「女の子たちは橋の上にいます。」

“The girls are ‘on’ the bridge.”

「女の子たちは橋の上にいます。」

Okay.

Let’s look at some more examples.

さらにいくつかの例を見てみましょう。

Now, we’re going to practice asking and answering questions using: in, on and under.

ここで、in、on、under を使用して質問と回答を練習してみます。

First, let’s take a look at this picture.

まず、この写真を見てみましょう。

Here we have a rabbit, a chair and one, two, three snakes.

ここにはウサギ、椅子、そして1、2、3匹のヘビがいます。

Okay.

わかった。

So, I will ask a question using in, on or under.

そこで、in、on、underを使って質問します。

I want you to think.

考えてほしい。

Is the answer, “Yes, it is.”

答えは「はい、その通りです」です。

or “No, it isn’t.”

または「いいえ、そうではありません。」

Okay.

わかった。

Let’s start with the rabbit.

ウサギから始めましょう。

“Is the rabbit under the chair?”

「ウサギは椅子の下にいますか？」

“No, it isn’t.”

「いいえ、そうではありません。」

“Is the rabbit in the chair?”

「ウサギは椅子にいますか？」

“No, it isn’t.”

「いいえ、そうではありません。」

“Is the rabbit on the chair?” “…on the chair?”

「ウサギは椅子の上にいますか？」 "…椅子の上に？"

“Yes, it is.”

"はい、そうです。"

Okay.

わかった。

Now, we’re going to move on to the snakes.

さて、蛇の話に移ります。

Now, there are…there are more than one, right, so it’s plural, so we say,

さて、There are…複数あるのですね、複数形なので

“Are the snakes…” with an ‘s’.

「蛇は…」と s を付けて言います。

Okay.

わかった。

So again, think.

そこでもう一度考えてみましょう。

Is the answer, “Yes, they are.”

答えは「はい、そうです」でしょうか。

or “No, they aren’t.”

または「いいえ、そうではありません。」

“Are the snakes in the chair?”

「蛇が椅子にいますか？」

“No, they aren’t.”

「いいえ、そうではありません。」

“Are the snakes on the chair?”

「蛇が椅子の上にいますか？」

“No, they aren’t.”

「いいえ、そうではありません。」

“Are the snakes under the chair?”

「椅子の下に蛇がいますか？」

“Yes, they are.”

"はい、そうです。"
