In this video, we’re going to talk about the prepositions: in, on and under.

이번 영상에서는 전치사 in, on, under에 대해 이야기하겠습니다.

Now, we use prepositions to show ‘where’ something is.

이제 우리는 무언가가 '어디'인지를 나타내기 위해 전치사를 사용합니다.

So, let’s take a look at the board.

그럼, 보드를 살펴보겠습니다.

Okay, now in this picture, we have a cat.

자, 이제 이 사진에는 고양이가 있습니다.

Okay, and we’re talking about this specific cat, so we have to say, “the cat”.

좋습니다. 우리는 이 특정 고양이에 대해 이야기하고 있으므로 "고양이"라고 말해야 합니다.

Okay. “…is in the box.”

좋아요. “…상자 안에 있어요.”

Okay.

The preposition is ‘in’.

좋아요.

전치사는 'in'입니다.

“He’s ‘in’ the box.” “…’in’ the box.”

“그는 상자 안에 있어요.” "…'상자에."

Okay.

And the next one.

“The cat is on…”

“The cat is on…”

The preposition ‘on’… “the chair”.

전치사 'on'… “thechair”.

“He’s on the chair.”

“The cat is ‘under’…

"고양이는

’under’ the table.”

테이블 '아래'… '아래'에 있습니다."

“…’under’ the table.”

Let’s look at the next one.

다음을 살펴 보겠습니다.

Now we have plural nouns.

이제 복수 명사가 생겼습니다.

“The apples ‘are’…”

“사과는 '...'입니다.”

Okay. “…in the box.”

좋아요. "…상자에."

Again, the apples are “…’in’ the box.”

다시 말하지만, 사과는 "...'상자 안에' 있습니다."

Okay.

Next, “The apples are ‘on’ the chair.”

다음으로, “사과가 의자 '위에' 있습니다.”

And last.

그리고 마침내.

“The apples are ‘under’….’under’ the table.”

“사과는 테이블 '아래'….'아래'에 있습니다.”

“The dog is ‘in’ the doghouse.

You should use the preposition ‘in’.

“The dog is ‘in’ the doghouse.

“Where is the man?”

“그 남자는 어디 있어요?”

“Where is the man?”

“그 남자는 어디 있어요?”

“The man is ‘under’ the umbrella.”

“그 남자는 우산 '아래'에 있어요.”

“The man is ‘under’ the umbrella.”

“그 남자는 우산 '아래'에 있어요.”

And last.

그리고 마침내.

“Where are the girls?”

“여자들은 어디 있어요?”

“Where are the girls?”

“여자들은 어디 있어요?”

“The girls are ‘on’ the bridge.”

"소녀들이 다리 '위에' 있습니다."

“The girls are ‘on’ the bridge.”

"소녀들이 다리 '위에' 있습니다."

Let’s look at some more examples.

Now, we’re going to practice asking and answering questions using: in, on and under.

이제 in, on, under를 사용하여 질문하고 대답하는 연습을 해보겠습니다.

First, let’s take a look at this picture.

먼저 이 사진을 살펴보겠습니다.

Here we have a rabbit, a chair and one, two, three snakes.

여기에는 토끼, 의자, 그리고 뱀 한 마리, 둘, 세 마리가 있습니다.

Okay.

So, I will ask a question using in, on or under.

그럼 in, on, under를 사용하여 질문하겠습니다.

I want you to think.

나는 당신이 생각하기를 바랍니다.

Is the answer, “Yes, it is.”

대답은 “예, 그렇습니다.”입니다.

or “No, it isn’t.”

또는 “아니요, 그렇지 않습니다.”

Okay.

Let’s start with the rabbit.

토끼부터 시작해보자.

“Is the rabbit under the chair?”

“의자 밑에 토끼가 있나요?”

“No, it isn’t.”

“아니요, 그렇지 않아요.”

“Is the rabbit in the chair?”

“토끼가 의자에 있어요?”

“No, it isn’t.”

“아니요, 그렇지 않아요.”

“Is the rabbit on the chair?” “…on the chair?”

“의자 위에 토끼가 있어요?” “...의자에?”

“Yes, it is.”

“예, 그렇습니다.”

Okay.

좋아요.

Now, we’re going to move on to the snakes.

이제 우리는 뱀으로 넘어갈 것입니다.

Now, there are…there are more than one, right, so it’s plural, so we say,

자, 거기에는…하나 이상이 있습니다. 맞죠. 그래서 복수형입니다. 그래서 우리는

“Are the snakes…” with an ‘s’.

"뱀이…"라고 말하며 's'를 붙입니다.

Okay.

So again, think.

Is the answer, “Yes, they are.”

or “No, they aren’t.”
