This is a checkup for subjective pronouns and ‘be’ verbs.

Let’s take a look at the board.

The first sentence.

पहला वाक्य।

“___, are bags.”

"___, बैग हैं।"

Now, bags are things.

अब, बैग चीजें हैं।

So we can’t say “he” or “she” or, you know, any of those.

We have to use “it” or “they”.

Now, we have “are….

So this time we use ‘it’.

Now let’s look at these two.

“The girl is an artist.”

"लड़की एक कलाकार है।"

We have ‘the girl’.

हमारे पास 'लड़की' है।

What is the subjective pronoun for one girl?

एक लड़की के लिए सब्जेक्टिव सर्वनाम क्या है?

“She.”

"वह।"

“She is an artist.”

"वह एक कलाकार है।"

These two sentences have the same meaning.

इन दोनों वाक्यों का एक ही अर्थ है।

They’re the same.

वे वही हैं।

Okay, and on the bottom, we have a question.

ठीक है, और तल पर, हमारे पास एक प्रश्न है।

When we ask a question, we have to put the ‘be’ verb first.

जब हम कोई प्रश्न पूछते हैं, तो हमें पहले 'बी' क्रिया रखनी होती है।

“Are ___ pandas?”

"क्या ___ पांडा हैं?"

“Are ___ pandas?”

"क्या ___ पांडा हैं?"

With an ‘s’.

एक 'एस' के साथ।

That means more than one.

यानी एक से ज्यादा।

So, we say, “they”.

तो, हम कहते हैं, "वे"।

“Are they pandas?”

"क्या वे पांडा हैं?"

“Yes, ____ are.”

"हाँ है।"

Again plural.

पुन: बहुवचन।

So we just use the same.

तो हम बस उसी का उपयोग करते हैं।

“They.”

"वे।"

“Yes, they are.”

"हाँ वे हैं।"

Okay, let’s move on to the next part.

ठीक है, चलिए अगले भाग पर चलते हैं।

Okay, now we’re going to focus on negatives and questions.

ठीक है, अब हम नकारात्मक और प्रश्नों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने जा रहे हैं।

Okay, the first sentence says,

“I’m a student”.

What if I’m a teacher?

I need ‘not’.

Right…

Remember, ‘not’ goes after the ‘be’ verb.

“I am…am not.”

"मैं हूँ ... नहीं हूँ।"

And then the noun. “…a student.”

“I’m not a student.”

“They are teachers.”

And now we have some other people...

and that’s not true.

Again, after the ‘be’ verb ‘are’ and before the noun ‘teachers’.

Okay.

Now, I’m going to ask you a question.

And you have to answer.

“Are you a student?”

Well, you’re taking my class, you’re learning English.

So, “Yes, I am.”

Of course the answer is “No, I’m not”.

Now for this last part, we’re going to look at some sentences,

but there’s something wrong in all of these sentences.

So you have to find the mistakes.

The first sentence says, “I’m student”.

There’s no ‘s’.

कोई 'एस' नहीं है।

That means just one.

यानी सिर्फ एक।

Just one.

बस एक ठो।

So remember, if there’s just one, we have to put ‘a’.

तो याद रखें, अगर सिर्फ एक है, तो हमें 'a' लगाना होगा।

“I’m a student.”

"मैं एक छात्र हूँ।"

Let’s look at the next one.

“They are student”.

This one says, “They are”.

यह कहता है, "वे हैं"।

This means there is more than one.

More than one student.

So, what do we have to do?

We have to say “They are….

We have to put an ‘s’ to show there’s more than one student.

But we put “aren’t”.

Now that’s wrong.

We have to say... ‘isn’t’.

हमें कहना है... 'नहीं' है।

“She isn’t a baby”.

"वह बच्चा नहीं है"।

“You isn’t a cat”.

"तुम बिल्ली नहीं हो"।

Now, for the subjective pronoun ‘you’,

अब, सब्जेक्टिव सर्वनाम 'आप' के

we have to have the ‘be’ verb ‘are’.

लिए, हमारे पास 'बी' क्रिया 'हैं' होना चाहिए।

So not “You isn’t a cat”, but “You aren’t... a cat”.

तो नहीं "तुम एक बिल्ली नहीं हो", लेकिन "तुम नहीं हो ... एक बिल्ली"।

“You aren’t a cat.”

"तुम बिल्ली नहीं हो।"

Okay.

ठीक।

“Are it a cat?”

"क्या यह एक बिल्ली है?"

Okay. “…a cat.”

ठीक। "…एक बिल्ली।"

That’s one animal.

वह एक जानवर है।

So, do we need ‘are’?

No, we need the ‘be’ verb ‘is’.

नहीं, हमें 'होना' क्रिया 'है' की आवश्यकता है।

“Is it a cat?”

"क्या यह एक बिल्ली है?"

“Is it a cat?”
