Welcome to this English course on adverbs.

And in this video I'm gonna focus on Adverbs of Time.

وفي هذا الفيديو سأركز على ظروف الزمن.

Now adverbs of time tell us ‘when’ an action happens,

تخبرنا ظروف الوقت الآن "متى" يحدث الإجراء ،

and also ‘how long’ and ‘how often’.

وكذلك "كم من الوقت" و "كم مرة".

Now these adverbs are extremely common in English,

الآن هذه الظروف شائعة جدًا في اللغة الإنجليزية ،

so you really need to know about them.

So let's start learning together.

Let's now take a look at a few example sentences telling us ‘when’ something happened.

‘She ate ice cream yesterday.’

"لقد أكلت الآيس كريم أمس."

The adverb in this sentence is… have you noticed?

الظرف في هذه الجملة ... هل لاحظت؟

‘yesterday’ of course.

"أمس" بالطبع.

And it's an adverb of time.

وهو ظرف من الزمن.

When did you eat ice cream? ‘yesterday’

متى أكلت الآيس كريم؟ "أمس"

I see you now.

أراك الآن.

Now where is the adverb in this sentence?

الآن أين هو الظرف في هذه الجملة؟

Of course the adverb is ‘now’.

بالطبع الظرف هو "الآن".

Again it's an adverb of time.

مرة أخرى إنه ظرف من الزمن.

When do I see you?

عندما لا أراك؟

‘now’ ‘I tell him daily.’

"الآن" "أقول له يوميًا."

The adverb is ‘daily’.

الظرف هو "يومي".

Again adverb of time.

مرة أخرى ظرف الوقت.

‘We met last year.’

"تقابلنا العام الماضي"

Can you see the adverb?

هل يمكنك رؤية الظرف؟

Of course the adverb in this case is ‘last year’.

بالطبع الظرف في هذه الحالة هو " العام الماضي".

Again notion of time.

مرة أخرى فكرة الزمن.

When did we meet? ‘last year’

متى التقينا؟ "العام الماضي"

And finally, ‘He will call you later’.

وأخيرًا ، "سوف يتصل بك لاحقًا".

The adverb in this sentence is also an adverb of time.

الظرف في هذه الجملة هو أيضا ظرف من الزمن.

It is ‘later’.

إنها "لاحقًا".

So these are all adverbs of time And as you can see in those examples,

usually adverbs of time are at the end of the sentence.

Let's now move on to example sentences showing us how long something happened.

These adverbs are also usually placed at the end of the sentence.

عادة ما يتم وضع هذه الظروف في نهاية الجملة.

But let's have a look.

لكن دعونا نلقي نظرة.

‘She stayed home all day.’

"بقيت في المنزل طوال اليوم."

Which part of this sentence is an adverb?

أي جزء من هذه الجملة هو ظرف؟

Can you see it?

هل تستطيع ان تراه؟

Of course, ‘all day’.

بالطبع ، "طوال اليوم".

And it tells us how long she stayed home.

ويخبرنا كم من الوقت بقيت في المنزل.

‘I studied in Canada for a year now.’

"لقد درست في كندا لمدة عام الآن."

In this sentence, ‘for a year’ tells us how long I studied in Canada.

في هذه الجملة ، تخبرنا عبارة "لمدة عام" كم من الوقت درست في كندا.

‘He has taught English since 1990.’

"لقد قام بتدريس اللغة الإنجليزية منذ عام 1990."

How long has he taught English?

‘I studied English for four hours.’

Which pond is the adverb?

أي بركة هي الظرف؟

‘For four hours’ ‘How long did I study English?’

‘for four hours’ And finally, ‘We have lived in New Zealand

لمدة أربع ساعات" وأخيرًا ، "لقد عشنا في نيوزيلندا

since 2005.’

The adverb is of course ‘since 2005’.

As you can see adverbs are not necessarily just one word.

‘since 2005’ - two words.

‘for four hours’ - three words.

"لأربع ساعات" - ثلاث كلمات.

Okay, so they're not just one word sometimes they're more than one.

Now let's do a bit of pronunciation practice.

Adverbs telling us how often express the frequency of an action.

تخبرنا الظروف عن عدد مرات التعبير عن تكرار الإجراء. يتم

They're usually placed before the main verb, but after the auxiliary verb,

وضعها عادةً قبل الفعل الرئيسي ، ولكن بعد الفعل المساعد ،

such as B may have or must.

مثل B قد يكون أو يجب.

The only exception is if the main verb is the verb to be.

الاستثناء الوحيد هو إذا كان الفعل الرئيسي هو فعل يكون.

In which case the adverb goes after the main verb.

في هذه الحالة يذهب الظرف بعد الفعل الرئيسي.

Let's have a look at a few example sentences.

دعنا نلقي نظرة على بعض الأمثلة على الجمل.

‘I often eat pizza.’

"غالبًا ما آكل البيتزا."

Can you spot the adverb?

هل يمكنك تحديد الظرف؟

It's ‘often’.

إنه "غالبًا".

And as you can see, it is placed before the main verb which is ‘eat’.

وكما ترى ، يتم وضعها قبل الفعل الرئيسي وهو "أكل".

So ‘I often eat’.

لذلك "غالبًا ما آكل".

The second example, ‘He has never drunk Cola.’

المثال الثاني ، "لم يشرب الكولا أبدًا."

In this case, we have an auxiliary verb.

في هذه الحالة ، لدينا فعل مساعد.

The auxiliary verb ‘have’ and the main verb is ‘drunk’.

الفعل المساعد "have" والفعل الرئيسي هو "سكران".

So the adverb is placed between the auxiliary verb and the main verb.

لذلك يتم وضع الظرف بين الفعل المساعد والفعل الرئيسي.

‘He has never drunk.’

"لم يشرب أبدًا". "

‘You must always brush your teeth.’

يجب عليك دائمًا تنظيف أسنانك".

Same applies.

وينطبق نفس الشيء.

We have an auxiliary verb ‘must’.

لدينا فعل مساعد "must".

Okay.

تمام.

And we have the main verb ‘brush’, so the adverb goes after the axillary verb,

ولدينا الفعل الرئيسي "فرشاة" ، لذا فإن الظرف يأتي بعد الفعل الإبطي ،

but before the main verb.

ولكن قبل الفعل الرئيسي.

‘You must always brush.’

"يجب أن تنظف دائمًا".

‘I am seldom late’.

So the main verb is the verb ‘to be’.

Be careful.

So in this case the adverb goes after the main verb.

‘I am seldom late’.

And finally, ‘He rarely lies.’

The main verb is ‘lies’.

Some adverbs expressing ‘how often’ express the exact number of times that an action happened

بعض الظروف التي تعبر عن "عدد المرات" تعبر عن العدد الدقيق لمرات حدوث الإجراء ،

They're called definite ‘adverbs of frequency’.

ويُطلق عليها "ظروف التكرار" المحددة.

And in this case, they're usually placed at the end of the sentence.

وفي هذه الحالة ، يتم وضعها عادةً في نهاية الجملة.

Let's have a look at a few examples.

دعنا نلقي نظرة على بعض الأمثلة.

‘I visit my dentist yearly.’

"أزور طبيب الأسنان سنويًا."

The adverb is ‘yearly’.

الظرف "سنوي".

Okay.

تمام.

‘Once a year’ and it expresses the exact number of times that I visit my dentist.

"مرة في السنة" ويعبر عن العدد الدقيق لمرات زيارتي لطبيب الأسنان.

It's a definite adverb of frequency, so it's placed at the end of the sentence.

إنه ظرف محدد للتردد ، لذلك يتم وضعه في نهاية الجملة.

Other example, ‘He goes to the gym once a week.’

مثال آخر ، "يذهب إلى صالة الألعاب الرياضية مرة واحدة في الأسبوع."

Again we have a definite adverb of frequency which is ‘once a week’.

مرة أخرى لدينا ظرف محدد للتردد وهو "مرة واحدة في الأسبوع".

‘I work five days a week.’

"أعمل خمسة أيام في الأسبوع."

Same thing.

We have a definite adverb of frequency which is ‘five days a week’

so it's placed at the end of the sentence.

لذلك يتم وضعه في نهاية الجملة.

And finally, ‘I saw the movie five times.’

وأخيرًا ، "رأيت الفيلم خمس مرات".

Again ‘five times’ expresses the exact number of times that I saw the movie.

مرة أخرى ، تعبر كلمة "خمس مرات" عن العدد الدقيق لمرات مشاهدة الفيلم.

If you want to use more than one adverb of time in a sentence,

إذا كنت تريد استخدام أكثر من ظرف زمني في جملة ما ،

you should put them in the following order: First, ‘how long?’.

فيجب عليك ترتيبها بالترتيب التالي: أولاً ، "إلى متى؟".

Second, ‘how often?’.

ثانيًا ، "كم مرة؟".

And finally, ‘when?’.

وأخيرًا ، "متى؟".

Let's take a look at a very good example sentence.

دعنا نلقي نظرة على مثال جيد للجملة.

‘He taught at the school for ten days every month last year.’

"قام بالتدريس في المدرسة لمدة عشرة أيام كل شهر في العام الماضي."

Now as you can see, first, we're told ‘how long’ - for ten days.

الآن كما ترون ، أولاً ، قيل لنا "كم من الوقت" - لمدة عشرة أيام.

Then, we're told ‘how often’ - every month.

And finally, were told ‘when’ exactly - last year.

This is a very good sentence using the different kinds of adverbs of time in the right order,

I have four example sentences for you to spot adverbs of time,

Can you spot the adverb?

هل يمكنك ملاحظة الظرف؟

Of course the adverb is the adverb frequency ‘three times’.

بالطبع الظرف هو تردد الظرف "ثلاث مرات".

Okay.

تمام.

How often has he been to Canada three times.

كم مرة زار كندا ثلاث مرات.

The second example is, ‘Generally I don't like to eat spicy food.’

المثال الثاني هو ، "بشكل عام لا أحب تناول الطعام الحار".

The adverb is ‘generally’.

الظرف هو "بشكل عام".

And remember I told you some adverbs of frequency work well at the beginning of a sentence if

وتذكر أنني أخبرتك أن بعض ظروف التكرار تعمل بشكل جيد في بداية الجملة إذا

you want to emphasize the frequency, so ‘generally’ is one of them.

Another example would be ‘sometimes’.

Next example.

‘He will clean his room regularly from now on.’

In this case, we have two adverbs.

The first one ‘regularly’.

Keeping the order, ‘regularly’ is ‘how often?’

followed by ‘when?’ – ‘from now on’.

And finally, ‘I've been going to church for four days

Three adverbs in this case.
