P Sounding like B in Words like PEPPER

Today I'm answering your questions about the P sound sounding like a B.

Every once in a while, I get a question about the P sound sounding like a B.

فكل لحظة ما يأتيني سؤال عن صوت الـ P يتشابه مع صوت الـ B

For example, people have asked about the words: spoon, rapport, and pepper.

علي سبيل المثال ، فالأناس قد تساءلوا عن كلمات : مَلعقة ، علاقة ، فلفل .

And I know that some teachers teach that these Ps should be a B.

وأنا على علم أنا هناك بعض المُعلمين يقولون أن هذه B يحب أن تكون P

I disagree with that.

Let's talk about why.

لنتحدث عن السبب !

The thing is, it's not about this sound being a P or B.

الأمر ليس أنه عن أن هذا الصوت يكون B او P

It's about the sound being very light.

إنه عن كون الصوت خفيف جداً

If you make the P light, it sounds great.

فلو أنك جعلت الـ B خفيفة ، فهذا يبدوا عظيماً

If you make the B light, it sounds almost the same.

ولو أنك جعلت الـ P خفيفة فهذا سيبدوا متشابهاً تماماً

Also good.

وجيداً أيضاً

But if you make the B sound heavy: sboon-- it doesn't sound so good anymore.

لكن إذا جعلت صوت الـ B ثقيلاً : ملعقة - فهذا لا يبدو جيداً على الإطلاق

Sboon.

ملعَقَة

So it's not about changing the P to a B.

فهي ليست مسألة تغير الـ P إلى B

It's about knowing how to make a light P.

ولكنها عن معرفة كيفية نطق ب خفيفة

If someone makes the P sound by itself, it sounds like this.

لو شخص ما نطق الـ P مع نفسها ، فهي تبدو هكذا

Pphh--- phh--- phh---

Pphh--- phh--- phh---

It's over exaggerated. In a word, that's not how we actually do it.

So if people think that 'Pphh--' is the P sound, then ‘spoon’ would be: spoon.

And that's not how we pronounce that word.

It's not: spoon— spoon—

It's also not: sboon— sboon—

وأيضا هي ليست Sboon - Sboon

The right sound is: spoon— spoon— a light P that releases directly into the vowel.

فالنطق الصحيح هو Spoon - Spoon إنها ب خفيفة تطلق مباشرة في حرف العلة

So how do we get this light P?

إذا كيف يمكننا الحصول على الـ ب الخفيفة

We need to change the idea. P is not pphh---

P is p- p- p- p- much lighter a much smaller release.

We go right from the release into the vowel without pphh-- hh-- hh-- all of this extra air.

A light feeling in the P, not too much air: pphh--
