English Speaking Practice for Daily Use (Family life) Conversation to Improve English Skills

so it feels good to finally sit together  as a family it's been a while hasn't it  

yes it has I think we've all  been so busy lately that's the

thing it feels like forever since we had a  proper dinner together I know we'll all been  

busy with work school and everything else  but tonight let's enjoy our time and Cat

up I hope everyone had a good day and I'd  love to hear what's been going on with  

each of you that's a good idea Lily why  don't you start how was your day at the

school my day was okay I guess nothing  too exciting happened just the usual

classes homework and hanging out  with friends I'm kind of tired

though because we had a long science lab  today it wasn't bad but it's been a busy week

overall oh that's interesting would like  to see that science project later and you

Tommy my day my day wasn't  good at all actually it was

terrible terrible what happened  Tommy did something go wrong at the

school I got my math test back today and and I  didn't do well I tried that I really did but the  

problems were super hard and honestly  I feel like the teacher doesn't like

me maybe that's why I got such a bad  grade yeah that is why the teacher hates

me Tommy you know blaming the teacher  isn't fair you've always been good at math

before are you sure you  studied enough maybe you were

distracted I've noticed you've been  spending a lot of time playing video games

lately honestly Tommy it sounds  like you just didn't study hard

enough you can't expect good grades if you  don't put in the effort that's how School

Works what what are you talking  about why are you even talking

Lily you're not my teacher and you  don't know anything about what happened

relax you two we'll solve this problem  Lily try to be supportive of of your  

brother instead of just criticizing  him let's not turn this dinner into  

an argument okay you're right anyway let's  talk about something else how about you honey

how was work today are things  still as tiring as they've been

lately tiring doesn't even begin to  describe it there is a new project at the

office and I've been working over time  almost every day the deadlines are tight

and the pressure is on I barely have time to  catch my breath before the next task comes

up that you're always working so hard  don't you ever get tired of it I mean  

do you even like your job it sounds so stressful

that's a good question Lily honestly  it's not about whether I like it or  

not it's about doing what needs to  be done to support this family that's

it it's not always fun but it's  my responsibility and I take it  

seriously I have to um I think you should  quit and become a YouTuber or a gamer

that that would be so cool you'd  probably get a million subscribers in no

time well Tommy that might sound  fun but it wouldn't exactly pay the

bills besides I think am a a  little too old for that kind of

thing oh but I have an idea Tommy  maybe you can be the family YouTuber

instead speaking of responsibilities I  feel like I've been carrying too many  

of them lately I go to work take care of  the house cook clean and still help with

homework it's exhausting and honestly it  feels like no one notices or appreciates

it of course we notice dear I  know how hard you work and I

appreciate everything you do for this  family maybe we can come up with a plan to

share the chore is better I can start helping  out more around the house when I'm not working

late I can help with the dishes after  dinner it's not a big deal and it give Mom a

Break um all right I'll take  out the trash I'm good good at

that oh thank you both of  you that could make a big

difference sometimes even small things  can help lighting the load believe

me you're right honey we will help  so Lily you've been a bit quiet

is there anything new or exciting  happening in your life you can tell us you

know well there is something  I wasn't sure if I should say

it but here it goes that Mom I I have a boyfriend

what you have a boyfriend does he play video

games because if he doesn't he  probably boring how old is he who is

he a boyfriend how long has this been going  on Lily does he treat you well what's he like  

he's really nice Dad we've been dating  for a few weeks now he's in my science

class and he's super smart and  respectful I promise he's a good

guy do we get to meet him at some point I'd like  to know who my daughter is spending time with  

maybe later Mom Dad I just wanted to  tell you first I didn't want to hide

it well thank you for being honest with  us Lily we trust you but remember School  

comes first as long as you're  responsible we are happy for

you and will definitely want to  meet him soon okay it's important to

promise I will spend more time with  my precious family I love you so
