a teacher well I have been teaching English  for about 17 years it was long time ago

wow you have a lot of experience  than you have had a lot of students

yeah I don't remember the number but  I've had thousands of students I'm sure

হ্যাঁ আমার সংখ্যা মনে নেই কিন্তু আমার হাজার হাজার ছাত্র ছিল আমি নিশ্চিত

then can you tell me why do these students  take that decision of studying English

তাহলে আপনি কি আমাকে বলতে পারেন কেন এই ছাত্ররা ইংরেজি পড়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়

why do they decide to study English there  are many reasons why people study English

কেন তারা ইংরেজি পড়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয় এর অনেক কারণ রয়েছে যে লোকেরা ইংরেজি অধ্যয়ন করে

some people need to travel to other country and  they need English to communicate with other people

কিছু লোকের অন্য দেশে ভ্রমণ করতে হয় এবং অন্যদের সাথে যোগাযোগ করার জন্য তাদের ইংরেজির প্রয়োজন হয়

others only want to study English because they  like the language but the most common reason

অন্যরা শুধুমাত্র ইংরেজি শিখতে চায় কারণ তারা ভাষা পছন্দ করে কিন্তু সবচেয়ে সাধারণ কারণ হল

it's because they need to speak English to improve  their lifestyle they want to earn more money

তাদের জীবনযাত্রার উন্নতির জন্য ইংরেজি বলতে হবে তারা আরও অর্থ উপার্জন করতে চায়

and I think that's great because that was also  my case I studied English to become a teacher  

এবং আমি মনে করি এটি দুর্দান্ত কারণ এটি আমার ক্ষেত্রেও ছিল আমি একজন শিক্ষক হওয়ার জন্য ইংরেজি অধ্যয়ন করেছি

I love being a teacher but before I became a  teacher I used to work as a construction worker

it was very tiring and also stressful so I decided  to study English to become an English teacher

and now I don't earn a lot of money but I can work  in different institutes and universities and I

love my job because I can help a lot of people  not only for my country but around the world

that's great and you're right learn a new language  is a great way to get better opportunities

and tell me teacher what is the most difficult  thing about learning this beautiful language

well it depends on the student many  of them have problems with listening

they can't understand what an advanced  English students speak or a native speaker

or when they watch a movie or listen to a  song they don't understand what they're saying

বা যখন তারা একটি সিনেমা দেখে বা একটি গান শোনে তখন তারা বুঝতে পারে না তারা কি বলছে

some students have problems  with reading and writing  

কিছু ছাত্রদের পড়া এবং লেখার সমস্যা হয়

I know many students who hate writing and reading

আমি অনেক ছাত্রকে জানি যারা লেখা এবং পড়া ঘৃণা করে

but I think the most difficult part of learning  English is to be able to speak English very well  

কিন্তু আমি মনে করি ইংরেজি শেখার সবচেয়ে কঠিন অংশ হল ইংরেজিতে খুব ভালোভাবে কথা বলতে পারা

I knew you were gonna say that and that's logical  since it's a language and we need to speak it

yes that's true many students have troubles  when they try to speak English fluently

and why do you think that is I mean is there a  special reason why they can't speak in English

well I'm not a scientist but from my years of  experience teaching English I can say that yes

I think many students bail at learning or speaking  English because they feel afraid to speak this

language they are afraid to speak English but  they do want to speak this language why is that  

তারা ইংরেজি বলতে ভয় পায় কিন্তু তারা এই ভাষায় কথা বলতে চায় কেন তারা

well they are not afraid to speak English  but to make mistakes at the moment they do it

ইংরেজি বলতে ভয় পায় না কিন্তু এই মুহুর্তে ভুল করতে তারা এটা করে

oh I understand but that's understandable  speaking a new language is not easy

ওহ আমি বুঝতে পারি কিন্তু এটাই বোধগম্য একটি নতুন ভাষায় কথা বলা সহজ নয়

exactly it is a process you can't  become an expert in just weeks

ঠিক এটি এমন একটি প্রক্রিয়া যা আপনি মাত্র কয়েক সপ্তাহের মধ্যে একজন বিশেষজ্ঞ হয়ে উঠতে পারবেন না

what I mean is if you really want to improve  your speaking skills the only way is to practice

আমি যা বলতে চাইছি আপনি যদি সত্যিই আপনার কথা বলার দক্ষতা উন্নত করতে চান তবে একমাত্র উপায় হল অনুশীলন করা

because it's an active skill and  you need to practice it to improve

and you need to make mistakes

you need to make mistakes but I can't  recommend students to make mistakes

well that's part of the process I made a lot  of mistakes when I was learning this language

let me tell you something when I started learning  English in an Institute we were like 20 students  

তখন আমি আপনাকে কিছু বলতে পারি আমি একটি ইনস্টিটিউটে ইংরেজি শেখা শুরু করেছিলাম আমরা 20 জন ছাত্রের মতো ছিলাম

and do you know how many of them got to  speak English fluently exactly just me  

এবং আপনি কি জানেন যে তাদের মধ্যে কতজন সাবলীলভাবে ইংরেজি বলতে পেরেছিলেন ঠিক

with this I do not intend to brag  about my achievements oh of course not

এই কারণেই আমি আমার কৃতিত্ব নিয়ে বড়াই করতে চাই না ওহ অবশ্যই না

but I think you need to know the reason why I  was the only student who became fluent at English

তবে আমি মনে করি আপনার জানা দরকার যে কারণে আমিই একমাত্র ছাত্র ছিলাম যে ইংরেজিতে পারদর্শী হয়েছিলাম

it wasn't by luck I wish it was  because of two important reasons

এটা ভাগ্যক্রমে ছিল না, আমি আশা করি এটি দুটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কারণের কারণে ছিল

two important reasons well I think we  everyone want to know what those reasons are  

দুটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কারণ ভাল আমি মনে করি আমরা সবাই জানতে চাই যে সেই কারণগুলি কী ছিল তা

sure the first important reason was  the consistency that's really important

নিশ্চিত প্রথম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কারণটি ছিল

during the time I was studying English  many of my partners quit seriously and also  

আমি যখন ইংরেজি অধ্যয়ন করছিলাম তখন আমার অনেক অংশীদার গুরুত্ব সহকারে ছেড়ে দিয়েছিলেন

when I started studying or practicing  English with friends they got bored very fast  

যখন আমি বন্ধুদের সাথে ইংরেজি অধ্যয়ন বা অনুশীলন শুরু করি তখন তারা খুব দ্রুত বিরক্ত হয়ে পড়ে

they got frustrated and gave up learning English  while I was still in the pad to speak in English

তারা হতাশ হয়ে পড়ে এবং ইংরেজি শেখা ছেড়ে দেয় যখন আমি ইংরেজিতে কথা বলার প্যাডে ছিলাম তখন

what I really mean is that I was the only one  who never gave up that's why I could make it  

আমি আসলেই বলতে চাই যে আমিই একমাত্র ছিলাম যে কখনও হাল ছাড়িনি তাই আমি এটা করতে পারতাম

the other important thing was that despite I was  afraid to speak in English because I was learning  

অন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় হল যে যদিও আমি ইংরেজিতে কথা বলতে ভয় পেতাম কারণ আমি শিখছিলাম

I dared to do it anyway and I don't want  you to misunderstand me please I was afraid  

আমি যেভাবেই হোক এটা করার সাহস করেছি এবং আমি চাই না আপনি আমাকে ভুল বুঝুন দয়া করে আমি ভয় পেয়েছিলাম যে

I was afraid to make mistakes all the time  but I did it anyway I just spoke in English  

আমি ভুল করতে ভয় পাচ্ছিলাম সময় কিন্তু আমি তাই করেছিলাম আমি

every time I was scared I remembered my father's  words he taught me how to drive my first car  

যতবারই ইংরেজিতে কথা বলতাম আমি যখনই ভয় পেতাম তখন আমার বাবার কথাগুলো মনে পড়ে যেত তিনি আমাকে আমার প্রথম গাড়িটি কিভাবে চালাতে শিখিয়েছিলেন তিনি

he used to tell me you just do it  don't mind that others make fun of you

আমাকে বলতেন আপনি শুধু এটা করবেন না যে অন্যরা আপনাকে নিয়ে মজা করবে

after all the one who will benefit in the end  will be you because you will improve your English

। শেষ পর্যন্ত যারা উপকৃত হবেন তারাই আপনি হবেন কারণ আপনি আপনার ইংরেজির উন্নতি ঘটাবেন

and yeah I spoke a lot and made  a lot of mistakes while speaking  

এবং হ্যাঁ আমি অনেক কথা বলেছি এবং কথা বলার সময় অনেক ভুল করেছি

but that is crucial to learn something new  

কিন্তু নতুন কিছু শেখার জন্য এটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ

that is what stops many people from learning  something new and this includes English of course

যা অনেক লোককে নতুন কিছু শিখতে বাধা দেয় এবং এটি অবশ্যই ইংরেজি অন্তর্ভুক্ত করে

so my recommendation is it doesn't matter if  you make a lot of mistakes that's how you learn

in fact I think that's the only way to learn  English by making mistakes and learning from them

that was really interesting teacher we  don't have time for more questions but
