awkward situation these phrases will help.

So, let's jump into our 10 phrases today.

You know, I was thinking about these

because I've been using a lot of ride share apps

to get around Los Angeles, where I am right now.

I don't have a car at the moment.

And, you know, I'm always engaging in

lots of different conversations

with lots of different people,

いろんな会話するの

and one of the most recent experiences was

最近だと

a ride with a guy, a driver who was really sad about his

あるドライバーと会って その人凄い悲しい感じの人で

relationship that was failing and it was a lot of

人間関係で問題があったみたいで プライベートの事でかなりね

personal information, like really quickly.

たった一瞬出来事だったんだけど

And so, I told him hey, did you know

だからこんな感じに聞いたの これ知ってる？

there's a lot of great relationship advice on YouTube?

ユーチューブには人間関係に役立つ動画がたくさんあるんだよ

So, those are actually a couple of phrases that you can use.

この会話で実は何個か使えるフレーズがあったのわかる？

I'm gonna introduce the list of 10,

だからこんな感じのことを これから紹介していこうと思うの

but I want you to know that you can

今回伝えることは

mix and match these, you could use

組み合わせて使うことも、いくつか同時に使うこともできるから

a few of them together, it's up to you.

Okay, let's go, number one, on another topic.

それじゃあまず最初は on another topic

Use this phrase to smoothly guide

このフレーズを使えばスムーズに

the conversation to another topic.

次の話題に進めることが出来るよ

So you could say hey, on another topic,

こんな感じ そう！そういえば

and then insert what you wanna talk about.

ここから次話したい話題を移せるの

So, on another topic, what's your favorite kind of coffee?

そういえば 一番好きなコーヒーって何？

I'm just gonna give you some random examples here

ここではどうやって使うか明確になるように

to show you how, you know, you might

いくつかこんな感じの例を使っていくから

create a complete sentence.

是非役立ててほしいの

You could also add some words here like,

単語を加えることもできるの

on a completely different topic, if you want to

ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TOPIC みたいな感じで

drastically change the conversation or make a big leap.

これは一気に話題を変えたかったり それまでの話題が全然違ったら使えるんだよ

So, on a completely different topic,

これは全然関係ない話なんだけど…

what's your favorite city to travel to?

旅行するのに一番いい場所ってどこ？ みたいにね

Great, number two, exclamations.

じゃあナンバー２！ exclamation(喜び、驚きの声など…) HEY! WOW!

So, any kind of, well not any kind of but

これはどんな場面でも… いや全部じゃないんだけど

a polite exclamation like, oh my gosh,

凄い正しい表現なの oh my goshとか

or wow, I just thought of something

wowわね 何か突然思いついて

I have to share with you, or hey!

シェアしなきゃってときに hey!みたいに

So, wow, hey, oh my gosh, these are all

だからwowとかoh my gosh

polite exclamations that you can use

実はこの単語って礼儀正しい表現で

to enter a conversation and change the topic

会話を始めて話題を変える時には凄く良く使えるの

so it seems like you just thought of something

wowは突然何か思いついたり

when you use an exclamation like, wow,

したときは簡単に使えるから

I just thought of something and, you know,

私もよく使うし

you can use that to introduce a new idea.

突然の発見を教えるのには使いやすい単語ね

Number three, I'm gonna give you

ナンバー３は 実は２つあるんだけど

a two for one here, let me ask you something,

let me ask you something

and then of course, you would ask a question.

勿論これは何かを聞きたいときに使うの

So, let me ask you something, what's your favorite

聞きたいことがあるんだけど 好きなコーヒーって何？

kind of coffee or how do you take your coffee?

コーヒーってどう選んでるの？

Or, alternatively, let me tell you something.

もう一つはね let me tell you something

So, this is a great introduction

これは何か言いたいことを話す際は

to really anything you wanna say.

凄く使い勝手のいい表現なの

Actually, I was talking with one of my

昨日実は幼馴染の友達に

best, oldest friends just yesterday,

会ったんだけど

and he used this phrase a lot and

彼はこのフレーズを凄く良く使ってて

I thought it was really smooth.

会話がとてもスムーズに進んだの

He's actually a non-native English speaker

彼はネイティブじゃないんだけどね

and I was taking notes from him

だから彼からこれを学んだんだけど

on how to improve my English so, thank you Adam.

私自身の英語が伸びたの だからありがとうアダム

So, he said several times, let me tell you something,

それで何回もこのフレーズ使ってたから let me tell you something

and I love this phrase because it just sounds cool

それにこのフレーズの響きがかっこいいからすごい好きなの

and then you can say anything you want after that.

この後に話したいことを話せば会話をスムーズに進められるから

So, let me tell you something,

let me tell you something！

music from the 80's is the best.

８０年代の音楽が歴代最高だろ！？ みたいにね

Number four, this is also a two for one.

ナンバー４ これも二つあるんだけど

So, if you want to introduce maybe talking about

もし何か映画の話だったり

a movie or something happening in current events

最近の出来事について話をしたいときは

you could say, have you seen,

have you seen が凄く使いやすいと思う

you know, have you seen Spider-Man?

ねえ スパイダーマン観た？ みたいな感じで

I actually haven't yet, I still need to see it.

私はまだ観てないんだけど 映画いかないとね

I definitely want to.

凄く観たいんだよね

Or, have you heard of, so this is a little more general.

それと have you heard of これはより一般的に

So, maybe I wanna talk about the city I'm from.

故郷の話をしたいとか

You know, have you heard of Minneapolis

ミネアポリス(ミネソタの都市)って聞いたことある？

or do you know of Minneapolis?

ミネアポリス知ってる？

So, actually, that was a three for one,

これだと３つだね do you know of

three phrases in one there, but those are

実際３つなんだけど この３つって

all great ways to introduce a new idea.

情報を伝えるのに凄い便利なフレーズなの

Number five, did you know?

ナンバー５ did you know?

So, in my first example, you know,

ここで最初に話した話なんだけど

did you know there's a lot of great

ユーチューブには人間関係に役立つ動画がたくさんあるって知ってる？

relationship advice on YouTube?

ドライバーさんとの話

Did you know is just a great way

did you knowは何かの真実

to introduce some fact or, you know, information

や情報 それに面白いことを伝えるのに

or something that you think is interesting.

とっても便利なフレーズなの

Number six, a great way to make a big leap,

ナンバー６は全然関係ない話に飛ぶのに便利なフレーズ

this is off topic, but have you ever been apple picking?

this is off topic but リンゴ狩りしたことある？

It's a great activity to do

アメリカの秋では

in the fall in the United States.

有名なイベントなの

I've done it when I was a kid.

子供のころはよくやったの

Anyway, you can alter the sentence a little bit and say,

そうそれでね これはちょっと単語を変えて使う事もできて

you know, this is completely off topic or this is

this is completely off topicや

really random and off topic but do you like apples?

this is really random and off topic but リンゴ好き？みたいに使えるの

So, you can use these phrases in a few different ways.

だからこの使い方もよかったら参考にしてね

Now, seven, eight, nine, and 10

これからのナンバー７,８,９,１０は

are all about ending a conversation

会話を切り上げる時に

and moving on to talk to somebody else.

そして別の人に話を掛ける時に使えるフレーズ

So, number seven, one of my favorites,

じゃあまずはナンバー７ これが一番私が使うフレーズで

I've got to run or I have to run

I've got to run やi have to run

but normally people say I've gotta run.

でも普通はI've gotta runを使うかな

So, we don't say I have got to run, we say I've,

それとあまりI have got to runてつかわないの I'veが普通かな

I've gotta run, I've gotta run, I've gotta get going.

I've gotta run,I've gotta run, I've gotta get going こんな感じ

I've gotta run which means,

この意味は

you need to move on to the next thing.

次のことに話を進める必要があるとき

And this a polite way to move on

そして別の会話に進むときに

to another conversation or just end the conversation there.

凄く謙虚なフレーズなの

Number eight is quite similar,

ナンバー８はかなり似てる

I've gotta get going, I have got to get going

I've gotta get going I have to get going

or I have to get going, but nobody says it like that

それとあんまり言われないけどI have to get going

so listen and repeat, I've gotta get going.

言ってみて I've gotta get going

I've gotta get going, I've gotta get going.

I've gotta get going I've gotta get going

Yeah, I've gotta get going in

そろそろ出ないといけないんだ！

just a minute too so, here we go, two more.

みたいな感じで使ってね 残りは２つ

Number nine, it was nice meeting you.

ナンバー９ it was nice meeting you

So you can use this if you've just met the person

初めてあった人にこのフレーズを使ってね

for the first time or if you had a meeting

それか知り合いに突然あったときにね

where you met someone that you already knew,

you already met them before and this is, maybe,

もう会ったことがあって それで

your second, third, fourth meeting with them,

すでに何回もあった人なら

then you should say, it was nice meeting with you.

it was nice meeting with youになるの

Don't just say it was nice meeting you

この場合はwithを付けないと

because that sounds strange, that's what we say

違和感が出てくるの

the first time we meet someone.

it was nice meeting you だと初めて会うって意味だからね

So, English learners, pay attention to the difference here.

この違いには注意が必要ね

It was nice meeting with you or

it was nice meeting with you や

you could say it was nice meeting you here.

it was nice meeting you この動画の場合両方使えるから

Let's say you met in a cafe, it was so nice

私が突然カフェでみんなに会ったら it was so nice meeting you here but I've got to get going

meeting you here but I've got to get going.

こういう言い回しで使えるから

It was so nice talking with you.

it was so nice talking with you (ナンバー１０)

That is always a nice phrase to end a conversation.

これは会話を終わらせるときに凄く便利なフレーズよ

Now, let's say that you are ending the conversation

それでは これで会話を終わりにしよう

but you really like the person, you wanna stay in touch.

だけどその人と気が合って 連絡を取れるようにしたい

How do you stay connected with someone?

どうやって連絡先を聞いたらいいと思う

How do you build that relationship?

どうやって人間関係を作っていったらいいと思う？

How do you follow up?

どうやって次に進んだらいいと思う？

How do you make sure that this isn't

どうやって初めて会った人とのこれからも会話を楽しめるってこと

the last time you talk to this amazing person that you met?

を確かめたらいいと思う？

better relationships, more friendships,
