In today’s video, you’ll get the chance to  practise answering questions about what you like

to do in your free time. Before we start, let’s  learn some key phrases that will come in handy.

Instead of overusing “I like...”, here are  some alternative phrases to impress friends,  

「I like...」を過度に使用する代わりに、 友人、教師、試験官に感銘を与える代替フレーズをいくつか紹介し

teachers and examiners! You could say:

I’m interested in (+ noun / gerund) For  example, “I’m interested in football.  

興味があります。（+ 名詞 / 動名詞）に 興味があります。

My favourite team is Sheffield United!” Or you  could be more specific and say: “I’m interested  

私のお気に入りのチームはシェフィールド・ユナイテッドです！」 または 、より具体的に次のように言うこともできます。「

in watching football. I don’t like to play myself.  In fact, I’ve never even kicked a football!”

サッカー観戦に興味があります。 私は自分で遊ぶのが好きではありません。 実際、私はフットボールを蹴ったことさえありません！」

Another option is: I’m keen on (+ noun / gerund). For  

別のオプションは次のとおり です。私は（+名詞/動名詞）に熱心です。

example, “I’m keen on swimming. I try to get  to the swimming pool at least twice a week”.  

例: 「私は水泳が大好きです。 少なくとも週に 2 回はプールに行くようにしています。」

Or, “I’m keen on sport. I  especially love swimming.”

または、「私はスポーツが大好きです。 特に水泳が大好きです。」

An option which is a little  more informal would be: 

もう少しカジュアルなオプションは次のようになり

I’m into (+ noun / gerund). For example, “I’m  really into books at the moment. I especially love

reading thrillers.” Or “These days I’m really into  reading. I can’t get enough of a good thriller.

Last, but not least, you  could keep it simple with. 

最後になりましたが、 これをシンプルに保つことができます。

I enjoy (+ noun / gerund). You could say  for example, “I enjoy going to the cinema.  

私は（+名詞/動名詞）を楽しんでいます。 たとえば、「映画館に行くのが好きです。

I try to go every Tuesday as it’s  half price on those days!” Or, “I have  

毎週火曜日は半額なので行くように しています！」 または、「

always enjoyed a trip to the cinema.  I particularly love a good rom-com".

映画館に行くのはいつも楽しかったです。

It’s also useful to explain  why you enjoy your hobbies. 

また、趣味を楽しむ理由を説明するのにも役立ち ます。

For example, when talking about sport you might  say. “I enjoy cycling because it keeps me fit.” 

たとえば、スポーツについて話すときは、 「サイクリングを楽しんでいるのは、体調を整えてくれるからです」と言うかもしれません。

For artistic activities you could  say, “I love going to pottery class  

芸術活動について は、「

as I enjoy tapping into my creative side.” And when talking about meeting up with friends,  

自分の創造的な側面を活用することを楽しんでいるので、陶芸教室に行くのが大好きです」と言うことができます。 また、友達と会うことについて話すとき

you could say, “I’m a bit of a social butterfly,  so I tend to spend my free time with friends.”

は、「私は少し社交的な性格な ので、自由な時間を友達と過ごす傾向があります」と言うことができます。
