The word ‘equity’ is a noun that  can be used in more than one way.

המילה 'הון עצמי' היא שם עצם שניתן להשתמש בו ביותר מדרך אחת.

It is a word that is often used  in law, and in everyday life.

זוהי מילה שמשתמשים בה לעתים קרובות במשפטים ובחיי היומיום.

A societal word originating from Latin,  the root of which defines ‘evenness’,

מילה חברתית שמקורה בלטינית, ששורשה מגדיר את 'שוויון', '

‘smoothness’, and ‘fairness’

As a noun the word ‘equity’ relates to  the quality of being impartial and fair.

כשם עצם המילה 'שוויון' מתייחסת לאיכות של חוסר פניות והוגנות.

It also defines what is ‘fair’ and ‘just’; the  opposite being ‘inequity’, as in unfairness.

הוא גם מגדיר מהו 'הוגן' ו'צודק'; ההפך הוא 'חוסר שוויון', כמו בחוסר הוגנות.

Thirdly, it defines the policy or practice of

This relates to the fair pursuance and  satisfactory outcome of legal disputes.

The adjective form of ‘equity’ is ‘equitable’;

in the appearance of fairness  and equity taking place.

The word ‘equality’ is often  confused with ‘equity’.

המילה 'שוויון' מבולבלת לעתים קרובות עם 'שוויון'.

The first relates to level  distinction, or perception,

הראשון מתייחס להבחנה ברמה, או לתפיסה,

while ‘equity’ relates to the process of  ascertaining or giving a fair outcome.

בעוד ש'הון עצמי' מתייחס לתהליך של בירור או מתן תוצאה הוגנת.

The way someone is viewed as equal is ‘equality’,

הדרך שבה מישהו נתפס כשווה הוא 'שוויון',

with the second relating to opportunities  and doors opened and how they are addressed.
