They have habits or types of behaviour that can really get on your nerves.

No one is perfect. This is true.

But sometimes people can do things that really annoy you.

Actions that cheese you off.

To feel cheesed off is to feel annoyed, irritated, and let down.

There are many ways in which a person can annoy you.

They might lie to you.

They might go against you in some way.

In this sentence, we are saying that a trusted friend does something to harm you.

They go against you.

The hardest thing to do with another person is to give them your trust and share a secret.

To trust another person is to believe in them.

It is a bond you build together over time.

You feel that you can trust that particular person with almost anything.

Building trust in any type of relationship takes time and effort.

The longer you know someone, the more you trust them.

It is not unusual for people in this type of relationship to share secrets that they would never reveal to anyone else.

That is the power of trust.

A person you trust is someone you can take into your confidence.

You feel comfortable telling that person your darkest secrets.

A secret can be described as ‘a skeleton in the cupboard’.

We normally want to keep that thing hidden away.

That is why it is important to reveal your secret to someone who is in your confidence.

However, it is possible for that confidence to be broken.

To break one's confidence is to take away that trust.

You can break the confidence of another person by lying to them.

You can even break your own confidence by losing faith in yourself.

There are many ways in which a trusting relationship can be broken.

A common one is when a trusted friend reveals one of your secrets to someone else.

The irony of this situation is that your trusted friend trusts the other person to keep the information to themselves as well.

You trust someone and they tell someone that they trust and before you know what is going on...

We often describe this type of person as a ‘blabbermouth’.

That person can't resist telling someone else about a thing that is not known to others.

A blabbermouth can't keep something secret.

They can't keep it to themselves.

Generally speaking, a blabbermouth is someone who likes to gossip or reveal things concerning other people's private lives.

They talk too much, and because of that, they often reveal things they should not.

They often speak indiscreetly.

Sometimes it is hard to appreciate just how special trust is in a relationship.

The moral of this situation is be careful who you share your deepest secrets with.

Sometimes it is best to leave those skeletons in the cupboard.

For once they are revealed...

the damage is done and it is hard to go back.
