Meaning of A LONG SHOT and A SURE THING - A Short English Lesson with Subtitles

- So in English, when you say something is a long shot,

- 그래서 영어로 무언가 is a long shot이라고 하면 그 일이 일어날

it means that there's a very slim chance

가능성이 아주 희박하다는 뜻입니다

of it happening.

. 일어날

It means that there's a very small chance

가능성이 매우 낮다는 뜻입니다

that it will happen.

When you buy a lottery ticket

복권을 사서 복권에

and you hope that you will win the lottery,

당첨되길 바랄 때 복권에 당첨되는 것은

it is definitely a long shot to win the lottery.

확실히 승산이 있는 일입니다 . 실제로 일어날

It has a very small chance of actually happening.

가능성은 매우 적습니다 .

So when something is a long shot,

따라서 어떤 일이 장기전이라는 것은 그 일이 일어날 가능성이

it means that there is a small chance that it will happen.

적다는 것을 의미합니다 .

I was going to make this video outside today,

오늘은 밖에서 영상을 만들려고 했는데,

but I thought that it was a long shot

whether the wind would calm down or not.

It is extremely windy outside today,
