I have a question about a funny sound I can hear when English speakers say certain words  

J’ai une question à propos d’un son amusant que j’entends lorsque les anglophones prononcent certains mots

together. For example, 'the end' sounds something like 'the yend' with the Y sound in the middle. I want to

The end. Now what do you notice about  the final sound of the first word, 'the',

Hmm... well, they're both vowel sounds. Now in English

when the first word ends in a vowel sound and  the next word begins with a vowel sound, we link

Did you get it? Yes: the linking sound is 'w' and that is about it.
