I have a question about a funny sound I can hear when English speakers say certain words

together. For example, 'the end' sounds something like 'the yend' with the Y sound in the middle. I want to

Hmm... well, they're both vowel sounds. Now in English

when the first word ends in a vowel sound and  the next word begins with a vowel sound, we link
