အားလုံးပဲမင်္ဂလာပါ ဒီဗီဒီယိုလေးကိုကြိုဆိုပါတယ်။

In this video, we’re going to talk about using ‘a’ or ‘an’.

ဤဗီဒီယိုတွင် 'a' သို့မဟုတ် 'an' အသုံးပြုခြင်းအကြောင်း ဆွေးနွေးပါမည်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

We use ‘a’ or ‘an’ in front of nouns.

နာမ်၏ရှေ့တွင် 'a' သို့မဟုတ် 'an' ကို သုံးသည်။

Well, what is a noun?

ကောင်းပြီ၊ နာမ်ဆိုတာ ဘာလဲ။

A noun is a person, place, thing, or animal.

နာမ်ဆိုသည်မှာ လူ၊ နေရာ၊ အရာ သို့မဟုတ် တိရစ္ဆာန်ဖြစ်သည်။

Okay, so let’s look at the board.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ဒါဆို ဘုတ်ကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

The first noun we have is “banana”.

ငါတို့မှာ ပထမဆုံး နာမ်က "ငှက်ပျော" တဲ့။

“banana”, starts with the consonant ‘b’.

“ငှက်ပျော” ဗျည်း 'b' ဖြင့် စတင်သည်။

So, we put “a banana”.

ဒီတော့ "ငှက်ပျောသီး" ထည့်လိုက်တယ်။

“a banana”.

"ငှက်ပျောသီး"။

Look at the next word. “Apple”.

နောက်စကားလုံးကိုကြည့်ပါ။ "ပန်းသီး"။

In this case, the first letter is ‘a’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ ပထမစာလုံးမှာ 'a' ဖြစ်သည်။

‘a’ is a vowel.

'a' သည် သရတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

Remember the vowels are a, e, i, o, u,

သရများသည် a, e, i, o, u ဖြစ်သည်၊

so we have to put ‘an’.

ထို့ကြောင့် 'an' ကို ထည့်ရမည်ဟု မှတ်သားပါ။

“an apple”.

"ပန်းသီးတစ်လုံး"။

“cat”. Hmmm.

"ကြောင်"။ ဟမ်။

The first letter, ‘c’, is a consonant.

ပထမအက္ခရာ 'ဂ' သည် ဗျည်းဖြစ်သည်။

So, should we put, ‘a’ or ‘an’?

ဒါဆို 'a' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'an' လို့ ရေးသင့်လား။

Remember, if it’s a consonant, we have to put ‘a’.

ဗျည်းဖြစ်ရင် 'a' လို့ မှတ်ထားရမယ်။

“a cat”.

"ကြောင်တစ်ကောင်"။

The next word, “boy”.

နောက်တစ်ခုက "ကောင်လေး"။

Again, the word starts with a consonant: ‘b’.

တစ်ဖန် စကားလုံးသည် ဗျည်းဖြင့် စတင်သည်- 'b'။

So, we have to say, “a boy”.

ဒီတော့ "ယောက်ျားလေး" လို့ပြောရမယ်။

The next word, “egg”, has the letter ‘e’ in front.

နောက်စကားလုံး "ဥ" သည် ရှေ့တွင် 'e' စာလုံးပါရှိသည်။

‘e’ is a vowel.

'e' သည် သရဖြစ်သည်။

So, what do we put?

ဒါဆို ငါတို့ ဘာထည့်မလဲ။

We put ‘an’.

ငါတို့က 'an' တဲ့။

If we read it, it sounds like “an egg.”

အဲဒါကိုဖတ်လိုက်ရင် “ဥ” လို့ထင်ရတယ်။

“an egg”.

"ဥတစ်လုံး"။

Okay, and the last word is “ant”.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ နောက်ဆုံးစကားလုံးက "ပုရွက်ဆိတ်" ပါ။

“ant” starts with the vowel ‘a’.

"ant" သည် သရ 'a' ဖြင့် စတင်သည်။

So again, we must put……”an ant”.

ဒါဆို ငါတို့ ..."ပုရွက်ဆိတ်" ထားရမယ်။

“an ant”.

"ပုရွက်ဆိတ်"။

Now, let’s go through these words together.

ကဲ ဒီစကားလုံးတွေကို အတူတူဖြတ်သန်းကြရအောင်။

“a banana”. “a banana”.

"ငှက်ပျောသီး"။ "ငှက်ပျောသီး"။

“an apple”. “an apple”.

"ပန်းသီးတစ်လုံး"။ "ပန်းသီးတစ်လုံး"။

Keep in mind that when you have ‘an’ in front,

သင့်ရှေ့တွင် 'an' ရှိပါက

it has to sound like almost one word.

စကားလုံးတစ်လုံးနီးပါး အသံထွက်ရမည် ကို သတိပြုပါ

“an apple”. “an apple”.

။ "ပန်းသီးတစ်လုံး"။ "ပန်းသီးတစ်လုံး"။

“a cat”. “a cat”.

"ကြောင်တစ်ကောင်"။ "ကြောင်တစ်ကောင်"။

“a boy”. “a boy”.

"ကောင်လေး"။ "ကောင်လေး"။

“an egg”. “an egg”.

"ဥတစ်လုံး"။ "ဥတစ်လုံး"။

“an egg”.

"ဥတစ်လုံး"။

Again, it sounds like one word.

စကားလုံးတစ်လုံးလို အသံထွက်ပြန်သည်။

"an egg". "an ant" "an ant"

"ဥတစ်လုံး"။ "ပုရွက်ဆိတ်" "ပုရွက်ဆိတ်"

"an ant"

"ပုရွက်ဆိတ်"

Okay. Let’s move on the next part.

Okay, let’s do some extra practice.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ အပိုအလေ့အကျင့်တစ်ခုလုပ်ရအောင်။

Ahhh, I have some nouns on the board.

Ahhh ဘုတ်ပေါ်မှာ နာမ်တစ်ချို့ရှိတယ်။

Remember, a noun is a person, place, thing or animal.

နာမ်သည် လူ၊ နေရာ၊ အရာ သို့မဟုတ် တိရစ္ဆာန်ဖြစ်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

So let’s go through them one by one.

ဒီတော့ သူတို့ကို တစ်ခုပြီးတစ်ခု ဖြတ်ကြည့်ရအောင်။

“a book”, “book” is a thing.

"စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်" "စာအုပ်" ဟူသည်မှာ အရာဝတ္ထုတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

It’s a thing that we read.

ကျွန်တော်ဖတ်ဖူးတဲ့ အကြောင်းအရာတစ်ခုပါ။

“park”, is a place. It’s a place we go.

"ပန်းခြံ" သည် နေရာတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။ ငါတို့သွားတဲ့နေရာတစ်ခုပဲ။

“umbrella” is a thing.

"ထီး" သည် အရာတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

Right. Umbrella is a thing that we use when it’s raining.

မှန်တယ်။ ထီးဆိုတာ မိုးရွာတဲ့အခါ သုံးတဲ့ အရာပါ။

“elephant”. “elephant” is an animal.

"ဆင်"။ "ဆင်" သည် တိရစ္ဆာန်ဖြစ်သည်။

“doctor”. “doctor” is a person.

"ဆရာဝန်"။ "ဆရာဝန်" သည် လူဖြစ်သည်။

And “orange”. "orange" is a thing that we eat.

နှင့် "လိမ္မော်ရောင်" ။ "လိမ္မော်ရောင်" သည်ကျွန်ုပ်တို့စားသောအရာဖြစ်သည်။

Okay. Now, I’m going to say ‘a’ or ‘an’ in front of the nouns.

ဟုတ်ပြီ အခု နာမ်တွေရဲ့ရှေ့မှာ 'a' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'an' လို့ ပြောမယ်။

I want you to listen and see if you can hear the difference.

ခြားနားချက်ကို နားထောင်ကြည့်စေချင်ပါတယ်။

Okay…

ကောင်းပြီ...

We have “book”.

ငါတို့မှာ "စာအုပ်" ရှိတယ်။

In that case we say, “a book”. “a book”.

အဲဒီအခါမှာ “စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်” လို့ဆိုပါတယ်။ "စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်"။

We have to say, “a book”.

“စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်” လို့ပြောရမယ်။

Okay…

အိုကေ…

The next one is “park”.

နောက်တစ်ခုက “ပန်းခြံ”။

We say, “a park”. “a park”.

ငါတို့က "ပန်းခြံ" လို့ပြောတာ။ "ပန်းခြံ"။

Remember, we put ‘a’ in front of words that begin with consonants.

ဗျည်းတွေနဲ့ အစပြုတဲ့ စကားလုံးတွေရဲ့ရှေ့မှာ 'a' ကို မှတ်သားထားပါ။

‘b’ and ‘p’ are consonants.

'b' နှင့် 'p' တို့သည် ဗျည်းများဖြစ်သည်။

That’s why we say, “a book”, “a park”.

ဒါကြောင့် “စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်”၊ “ပန်းခြံတစ်ခု” လို့ ပြောကြတယ်။

Okay…

How about the next word?

နောက်စကား ဘယ်လိုလဲ။

“an umbrella”.

"ထီးတစ်ချောင်း"။

“an umbrella”.

"ထီးတစ်ချောင်း"။

Could you here the difference? “an umbrella”.

ဒီနေရာမှာ ခြားနားချက် ရှိနိုင်မလား။ "ထီးတစ်ချောင်း"။

We say ‘an’ because umbrella starts with a vowel: ‘u’.

ထီးသည် သရဖြင့် စတင်သောကြောင့် 'an' ဟုဆိုသည်။

“an umbrella”.

"ထီးတစ်ချောင်း"။

Okay… “elephant”.

ကောင်းပြီ… “ဆင်”။

We should we say?

ငါတို့ပြောသင့်သလား?

“an elephant”. “an elephant”.

"ဆင်တစ်ကောင်"။ "ဆင်တစ်ကောင်"။

Again, 'elephant' starts with a vowel.

တဖန် 'ဆင်' သည် သရဖြင့် စတင်သည်။

“a doctor”. “a doctor”.

“ဆရာဝန်”။ “ဆရာဝန်”။

“a doctor”.

“ဆရာဝန်”။

And the last word, “an orange”. “an orange”.

နောက်ဆုံးစကားလုံး "လိမ္မော်ရောင်"။ "လိမ္မော်သီးတစ်လုံး"။

Again, we have to say, “an orange” because ‘o’ is a vowel.

နောက်တဖန်၊ 'o' သည် သရဖြစ်သောကြောင့် "လိမ္မော်ရောင်" ဟု ဆိုရပါမည်။

So, let’s go through each word one more time.

ဒီတော့ စကားလုံးတစ်လုံးချင်းစီကို နောက်တစ်ကြိမ် ထပ်ပြောကြည့်ရအောင်။

“a book”. “a book”.

"စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်"။ "စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်"။

Okay…

ကောင်းပြီ…

“a park”. “a park”.

“ပန်းခြံ”။ "ပန်းခြံ"။

“an umbrella”. “an umbrella”.

"ထီးတစ်ချောင်း"။ "ထီးတစ်ချောင်း"။

Notice it sounds like one word.

စကားလုံးတစ်လုံးလို အသံထွက်နေတာကို သတိပြုပါ။

“an umbrella”.

"ထီးတစ်ချောင်း"။

“an elephant” “an elephant”

“ဆင်” “ဆင်”

“a doctor” “a doctor”

“ဆရာဝန်” “ဆရာဝန်”

And the last one.

နှင့် နောက်ဆုံးတစ်မျိုး။

“an orange” “an orange”

"လိမ္မော်သီး" "လိမ္မော်သီး"
