In this video, we’re going to talk about using ‘a’ or ‘an’.

We use ‘a’ or ‘an’ in front of nouns.

Well, what is a noun?

अच्छा, संज्ञा क्या है?

A noun is a person, place, thing, or animal.

संज्ञा एक व्यक्ति, स्थान, वस्तु या जानवर है।

Okay, so let’s look at the board.

ठीक है, तो चलिए बोर्ड को देखते हैं।

The first noun we have is “banana”.

हमारे पास पहली संज्ञा है "केला"।

“banana”, starts with the consonant ‘b’.

"केला", व्यंजन 'बी' से शुरू होता है।

So, we put “a banana”.

तो, हम "एक केला" डालते हैं।

“a banana”.

"एक केला"।

Look at the next word. “Apple”.

अगला शब्द देखें। "सेब"।

In this case, the first letter is ‘a’.

‘a’ is a vowel.

Remember the vowels are a, e, i, o, u,

so we have to put ‘an’.

Keep in mind that when you have ‘an’ in front,

Right. Umbrella is a thing that we use when it’s raining.

“elephant”. “elephant” is an animal.

"हाथी"। "हाथी" एक जानवर है।

“doctor”. “doctor” is a person.

"चिकित्सक"। "डॉक्टर" एक व्यक्ति है।

And “orange”. "orange" is a thing that we eat.

और "नारंगी"। "नारंगी" एक ऐसी चीज है जिसे हम खाते हैं।

Okay. Now, I’m going to say ‘a’ or ‘an’ in front of the nouns.

I want you to listen and see if you can hear the difference.
