FUN vs FUNNY Difference, Meaning, Example Sentences | Learn English Vocabulary

And in this video, we will be talking  about the difference between fun and funny. 

이번 영상에서는

재미와 재미의

차이에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다 .

Now, my students are always  getting these two words confused. 

이제 제 학생들은 항상

이 두 단어를 혼동하고 있습니다.

And today, we are going to fix that problem. Let's look at the board. 

그리고 오늘 우리는 그 문제를 해결해보겠습니다.

보드를 살펴보겠습니다.

Our first word is ‘fun’. Now, ‘fun’ can be used as an adjective or a noun. 

우리의 첫 번째 단어는 '재미'입니다.

이제 'fun'은 형용사로도, 명사로도 사용될 수 있습니다.

It means you enjoy yourself  and you have a good time. 

자신이 즐겁고

즐거운 시간을 보낸다 는 뜻입니다 .

Maybe you go to the pool friends on a nice day. You had a good time. 

날씨가 좋은 날에는 친구들과 함께 수영장에 갈 수도 있습니다.

즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.

You had fun. Let's look at our second word, ‘funny’. 

재밌었 어.

두 번째 단어인 '재미있다'를 살펴보겠습니다.

‘funny’ has two meanings. And it can be used as an adjective. 

'웃긴'에는 두 가지 의미가 있습니다.

그리고 형용사로도 쓰일 수 있어요.

The first meaning is, it makes you laugh. Hahaha 

첫 번째 의미는

웃게 만든다는 것입니다.

하하하 그렇군요.

Okay. Your friend tells a funny  joke and the joke is funny. 

당신의 친구가 재미있는 농담을 했는데

그 농담이 재미있습니다.

Okay. Our second, less common,  meaning is it's strange. 

좋아요. 두 번째로 덜 일반적인 의미는 이상하다는 것입니다.

Something is a little strange. 

뭔가 좀 이상해요.

So let's keep practicing  and look at some examples. 

그럼 계속해서 연습

하면서 몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

Now, I'm going to tell you about  a party I went to last weekend. 

이제 제가 지난 주말에 갔던 파티에

대해 말씀드리겠습니다 .

The party was fun. I had a good time. 

파티는 재미있었어요.

나는 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.

I had a lot of fun. Now, the first ‘fun’ is used as an adjective. 

정말 재밌었 어.

이제 첫 번째 '재미'가 형용사로 사용됩니다.

And in the second sentence, it's used as a noun. 

그리고 두 번째 문장에서는

명사로 사용됩니다.

They both mean the same thing. That I had a good time. 

둘 다 같은 의미입니다.

나는 즐거운 시간을 보냈다.

Next, ‘funny’ has a different meaning. John was funny. 

다음으로 '웃긴'는 다른 의미를 갖습니다.

존은 재미있었어요.

John told a joke and I laughed, “hahaha.” He is a funny guy. 

John이 농담을 했고 나는 “하하하”라고 웃었습니다.

그는 재미있는 사람입니다.

Next, “He smelled funny.” Now, remember there's two meanings to ‘funny’. 

다음으로 “그에게서 이상한 냄새가 났다.”

이제 '재미있다'에는 두 가지 의미가 있다는 것을 기억하세요.

Laughing like “ha ha ha”. And funny like strange. 

“하하하” 하고 웃습니다.

그리고 이상한 것처럼 웃기네요.

“He smelled funny.” He smelled a little strange. 

“그에게서 이상한 냄새가 났어요.”

그에게서 조금 이상한 냄새가 났다.

So let's keep practicing with some more examples. Let's do some sentences together.

And we'll choose ‘fun’ or ‘funny’. Playing a game is fun or funny? 

그리고 우리는 '재미있다' 또는 '재미있다'를 선택할 것입니다.

You're playing a board game or  computer game with your family. 

당신은 가족과 함께

보드 게임이나 컴퓨터 게임을 하고 있습니다

You're having a good time playing.

A game is fun.

게임을 하는 것은 재미있습니다.

A comedian is fun or funny? A comedian is someone who  

개그맨은 재미있나요, 재미있나요?

개그맨은 '하하하'라고 웃게 만드는 사람이다.

makes you laugh “ha ha ha”. He's telling some good jokes. 

그는 좋은 농담을하고 있습니다.

He is funny. 

그는 재미있다.

Have a good time at the beach. 

해변에서 즐거운 시간을 보내세요.

I want you to have a good time. Have fun at the beach. 

나는 당신이 즐거운 시간을 보내길 바랍니다.

해변에서 즐거운 시간을 보내세요.

His hat looks fun or funny? His hat looks funny. 

그 사람 모자가 재미있어 보이나요, 아니면 재미있어 보이나요?

그의 모자가 재미있어 보이네요.

Now, funny can have two meanings. Funny like laughing “ha ha ha” or  

이제 funny은 두 가지 의미를 가질 수 있습니다.

“하하하” 웃는 것처럼 웃기

거나 이상할 정도로 웃기다.

funny like strange. His hat looks funny. 

그의 모자가 재미있어 보이네요.

Now, you know the difference  between fun and funny.
