English Vocabulary: Lag

And in this video, I want to talk  with you about the word ‘lag’. 

このビデオでは、 「ラグ」という言葉についてお話したいと思います。

Now ‘lag’ means to do something very slowly, or to be very slow, okay. 

ここで「ラグ」とは、何かを非常にゆっくり行う、または非常に遅くすることを意味します 。

So the word ‘lag’ is up here on the board. Now, the pronunciation - it's hard I know 

したがって、「ラグ」という言葉がボード上にあります。 さて、発音です。難しいことはわかって

but you have to try and practice ‘lag’

So let's look at these examples. “She's lagging .”

“She's lagging.” This means she's

taking a long time to do something. She's doing something very slowly.

“She's lagging.” The next one is,

“Stop lagging.” “Stop lagging.” 

「遅れるのをやめる」です。 「遅れるのをやめなさい。」

You're telling somebody hurry up. 

あなたは誰かに急いでくださいと言っています。

Stop being slow. Okay. 

ゆっくりするのはやめましょう。 わかった。

The next one is a very common problem. “My computer is lagging.” 

次の問題は非常に一般的な問題です。 「私のコンピュータは遅れています。」

“My computer is lagging.” That means my computer is slow. 

「私のコンピュータは遅れています。」 つまり、私のコンピューターが遅いということです。

It's slow. I'm trying to do something but it's lagging. 

遅いです。 何かをしようとしているのですが、遅れています。

It's slow. And the last one is, 

遅いです。 最後は

“I have jet lag.” “I have jet lag.” 

「時差ぼけがあります」です。 「時差ぼけがあります。」

You might hear this a lot especially  from people who are travelling. 

これは、特に旅行中の人からよく耳にするかもしれません 。

So if you travel around the world, maybe  too a far away country that you're going  

ですから、世界中を旅する場合、タイムゾーンを変えるに はあまりにも遠い国かもしれません

to be changing time zones, so the time will be different,

and you'll feel very tired, your body will feel slow and tired,

and your body is taking a long time  to adjust to the new time zone,

your body is slow to adjust, so you have to say,

“I have jet lag.” Okay.

Let's look at some more examples together. Okay.

Let's look at a few examples. First one.

“She's always late because she lags.” “She's always late because she lags.” 

「彼女は遅れるからいつも遅れる。」 「彼女は遅れるからいつも遅れる。」

The next one. “I wish you wouldn't lag so much.”

“I wish you wouldn't lag so much.” Next. 

「そんなに遅れないでほしい」 次。

“I can't open the program  because my computer is lagging.” 

「 パソコンの動作が遅いため、プログラムを開けません。」

“I can't open the program  because my computer is lagging.” 

「 パソコンの動作が遅いため、プログラムを開けません。」

The last one. “My jet lag is terrible. I keep falling asleep.” 

最後のもの。 「私の時差ぼけはひどいです。 私は眠り続けます。」

“My jet lag is terrible. I keep falling asleep.” Okay. 

「私の時差ぼけはひどいです。 私は眠り続けます。」 わかった。

So in this video we learned  that we use the word ‘lag’  

そのため、このビデオでは、非常に遅いアクションを表すために 「ラグ」という言葉を使用していることを学びました

to describe an action that is very very slow. Now, my best friend is someone who lags a lot

whenever we want to do something especially at  night. She takes almost two hours to get ready. 

特に夜に何かをしたいときはいつでも遅れてしまう人です 。 彼女は準備に 2 時間近くかかります。

She has to wash her hair or take  a shower then put on her makeup,

you know decide what to wear. And that can take a very long time.

So I always have to say to her “Stop  lagging! Hurry up! We're late! Stop lagging!”

Okay. So next time, if you have a friend

or somebody that's taking a very long time, you can use the word ‘lag’ to say ‘stop
