It's the difference between the words 'good' and 'well'.

Do you know the difference between the two words?

It's not so much a writing mistake.

It's more of a speaking mistake.

Especially, in familiar contexts, but you need to know about it and to fix it,

An adjective, as you know, describes a noun.

Okay so how is the tennis player?

The tennis player is good.

When you say, ‘You speak good English’

You have a noun – ‘English’.

And an adjective describing that noun – ‘good’.

So how is your English?

It's good.

Third sentence is also a correct sentence.

‘Your English is good’.

As I've just said, an adjective that describes a noun.

আমি শুধু বলেছি,

একটি বিশেষণ যা একটি বিশেষ্য বর্ণনা করে।

Now if we say, ‘This tennis player plays well’.

'এই টেনিস খেলোয়াড় ভালো খেলে'।

Is this correct?

It is correct because in this case,

you have no adjectives, but you have an adverb.

Now an adverb describes a verb, another adverb, or an adjective.

আরেকটি ক্রিয়া বিশেষণ বা একটি বিশেষণকে বর্ণনা করে।

In this sentence, it describes the verb 'plays'.

এই বাক্যে,

Okay, how do you play?

ঠিক আছে, আপনি কিভাবে খেলবেন?

You play well.

আপনি ভাল খেলেন.

So 'well' is an adverb.

তাই 'ভাল' একটি ক্রিয়াবিশেষণ।

‘You speak English well’ is also correct.

'তুমি ইংরেজি ভালো বল'ও ঠিক।

The adverb, ‘well’, describes the verb 'to speak'.

ক্রিয়া বিশেষণ, 'ভাল', 'কথা বলতে' ক্রিয়াকে বর্ণনা করে।

Okay so there is a difference.

ঠিক আছে তাই একটি পার্থক্য আছে.

The adjective is good.

বিশেষণটি ভাল।

ক্রিয়া বিশেষণটি ভাল।

The adverb is well.

So when you say, ‘You play good’,

তাহলে আপনি যখন বলেন,

'তুমি ভালো খেলো',

do you think that's right?

তখন কি তা ঠিক মনে হয়?

I don't.

আমি না.

It's incorrect and you will hear many native speakers tell you that.

এটা ভুল এবং আপনি অনেক নেটিভ স্পিকার আপনাকে তা বলতে শুনবেন।

Tell you, ‘You play good’.

তোমাকে বলি, 'ভালো খেলো'।

But this is incorrect.

কিন্তু এটা ভুল।

Why?

Remember what we said, ‘good’ is an adjective.

It describes a noun.

Do you see a noun in that sentence?

But we have a verb, ‘you play’, so what you need is not an adjective,

it's an adverb.

So it's very important for you to know the difference between adjectives

Especially in this case, with ‘good’ as an adjective
