Today is Day 28 and we're studying phrasal verbs with “cry”.

Σήμερα ειναι η 28η μέρα και θα μελετήσουμε φρέιζλ βερμπσ με τη λέξη cry(κλαίω)

To cry for something for something does not involve actually crying.

Το cry for something δεν εχει σχεση με κλάμα.

It means to urgently ask for something.

Σημαίνει να ζητάς κάτι απεγνωσμένα.

I heard hear cry for help.

Την άκουσα να εκλιπαρεί για βοήθεια.

It can also mean to really need based on appearance or situation.

Επίσης μπορεί και να σημαίνει να χρειαζεται κατι σε σχέση με εμφάνιση ή κατάσταση.

This house is just crying for someone to buy it,

Αυτο το σπίτι crying for someone για καποιον να το αγοράσει

it’s in a great neighborhood and it’s well-priced.

Ειναι σε υπέροχη γειτονιά και σε καλή τιμή.

Or, the team is crying for a new manager.

Ή , η ομαδα crying for για καινουργιο υπέύθυνο.

Meaning, the current manager is pretty bad.

Εννοεί, ο νυν υπευθυνος δεν είναι καθολου καλός

You might cry out when you’re crying for help.

Μπορει να cry out όταν ζητας απεγνωσμενα για βοηθεια

To cry out means to make a loud sudden sound.

cry out σημαινει να κανεις ενα δυνατο και ξαφνικό ήχο.

It can either be a word, like HEY or HELP, or just a sound like Ow!

Μπορει να είναι μια λέξη οπως έι ή βοήθεια ή απλά ενα άου

She cried out when she broke her arm.

she cried out (ούρλιαξε)οταν εσπασε τον ωμο της.

I cried out to him, but it couldn’t be heard over the crowd.

i cried out to him ,(τον φώναξα) αλλα δεν ακούστηκε μεσα στο πληθος.

If you cry out against something, you’re protesting.

αν πεις cry out against , σημαινει οτι διαμαρτυρεσε για κάτι.

You’re asking for a change.

Ζητάς μια αλλαγη.

Some people have cried out against the government’s move to reduce Medicare benefits.

καποιοι ανθρωποι εχουν διαμαρτυρηθει εντονα στην κυβερνηση για την κινηση που έκανε να μειωθουν τα ωφελη της ιατροφαρμακευτικης περιθαλψης

Or the workers cried out when the company announced pay cuts.

Ή οι εργατες διαμαρτρήθηκαν οταν η εταιρεια ανακοίνωσε περικοπές.

We also use this quite a bit as a noun, just one word, outcry.

Έπισης το χρησιμοποιουμε πολύ και ως ουσιαστικο. ως μια λέξη outcry

There was a public outcry over the proposed changes to the park.

Υπήρξε μια δημόσια κατακραυγή στις προτεινομενες αλλαγες για το άλσος.

We also use this phrasal verb in the phrase: for crying out loud.

Αυτό το φρέιζλ βερμπ το χρησιμοποιουμε στη φράση: for crying out loud

This is an expression that shows annoyance or exasperation.

αυτο ειναι μια εκφραση που δειχνει ενόχληση ή εξόργιση

When your kid starts crying for ice cream for the third day in a row, you might say, oh for crying out loud.

Όταν τα μικρα σας παιδια ζητανε επίμονα για παγωτο για τριτη μερα στη σειρα, μπορεις να πεις,oh for crying out loud

And we use ‘cry over’ in the phrase “there’s no use crying over spilled milk.”

και χρησιμοποιουμε 'cry over ' στη φραση there's no use crying over spilled milk'

This means, don’t get too upset about something that is already happened and can’t be changed.

I wish I’d studied harder for that test.

Well, there’s no use crying over spilled milk. You can study hard for the final.

Καλά, there's no use crying over spilled milk.(ο΄τι εγινε εγινε . τωρα δεν αλλάζει)Μπορεις να μελετησεις πιο σκληρα στις τελικες εξετασεις.

Cry begins with the CR consonant cluster.

Back of the tongue lifts to touch the soft palate as the front of the tongue starts to lift and pull back for the R.

The lips can start to flare too. Cr-, cr-.

Cry. Then the AI diphthong. AI as in BUY.

Jaw drops for the first sound, aah—cra--

and the back of the tongue lifts cra--.

Then the front of the tongue arches up towards the roof of the mouth, bringing the jaw back up.

Cry--

Cry. Cry. Cry.
