right good morning sir yes you're right  my name is Tommy Vargas nice to meet

you nice to meet you Tommy I understand you're  here because you applied for a scholarship

yes sir that's correct I submitted my  request months ago and I finally got a

response they called me to tell me to  come for my interview with the university

representative and that's correct I am the  university representative my name is John

Levy it's a pleasure Mr Levy I want  to tell you that my family and I are  

very grateful for this opportunity  I see but remember this is only an  

interview to see whether you are  suitable for the scholarship or

not yes sir I know it and I will give  my best to make my family proud of

me all right let's start then I  understand you got the highest

grades I have talked to your teacher and  he told me you are an excellent student

but that's not enough I need to know  more about yourself so let's start with  

that why don't you tell me a little about  yourself I want to know you very well Mr

Vargas sure I'm someone who  is really passionate about the

ocean that's why I plan on majoring in  Marin biology and becoming a scientist one

day marine biologist wow that's a very  difficult University degree to get did  

you know that yes I know sir but it is my  dream I have already started learning about

it I've already earned my skua  certification and have gone on several

Dives when I'm not in the water I really enjoy  reading I read novels and also scientific

magazines also I like animals I  study animal life and watch many  

documentaries about marine animals in my  free time I also volunteer for a literacy  

program for kids I love that I see all  right what is your greatest strength and

weakness I'd say that my greatest strength  is my tenacity when I do something I want  

to do it right so I'm willing to put in the  time and effort to see it through once for  

a school project we had to build a model of  anatom and we chose to build the element heum

hav has an atomic number of 72 which  meant the model was going to be

huge the teacher offered to let us switch  but I decided not to I decided to do it so  

I stayed after school for an hour each day for  a week to finish it I'm happy to say I got an  

A+ on the project and about my weakness well  frustration is definitely something I'm trying  

to work on I mean if something doesn't click  with me right away I can get irritated with

myself I understand that it takes time to get good  at something so I'm trying to learn to be more

patient for example I've been taking  out watercolors as a hobby but since  

it's a new skill I'm not really good yet and  tend to dislike whatever I create to counter  

balance that I've been watching tutorials  and trying to repaint things and make them

better okay tell me why do you deserve this

scholarship ever since I was taken to the  beach for the first time I really loved  

it seriously I always investigate about this  topic and I like to learn new things every day

sir University is expensive  and this is scholarship will  

help me accomplish my goal of becoming a

biologist all right you have told me  about your past what are your career

goals My ultimate goal is to join the state  biology Department I understand they have the  

best professionals I want to be one of them  in fact I want to to be the best I want to  

do research on marine life and help the correct  production of what the ocean can offer that's my

dream okay who has been a role model for you tell

me I can say my father because he works  hard every day he's an engineer too but  

I will choose my teacher my biology  teacher he taught me everything I

know his passion for marine biology motivated  me and made me fall in love with that

subject he knows a lot about that and I am always  making him many questions questions I am very  

curious why did you choose this University  there are other which could accept your

request no I don't want any other university  Tangerine college is the best I know that my  

cousin went to this University and he's  working in the government now I want  

want that too I know that the best Engineers  graduate from this University so I'll get it  

anyway I see well I think that's all  is there anything else you want to

add yes I'd like to say how grateful I am for  this scholarship opportunity or well this inter

no matter what the result is I really  appreciate you considered me as a

candidate even if I don't get it this  year I will keep trying until I achieve  

it I will work hard for it all right you are an  interesting boy you're intelligent and curious  

you have excellent grades and all your teachers  speak well of you they say you are the best  

candidate I can't give you an answer right  now but let me tell you that you have great

chances we need people like you in our  University passionate and committed

people so so I will recommend you for  this scholarship it's a scholarship for

$200,000 it is so that you can study the entire  degree and not have to spend a single dollar what  

do you say wow that sounds incredible my parents  will be very proud of me I I really appreciate
