English Pronunciation: Bitch or Beach?

Ah, the classic!

아, 클래식!

When you're talking about your country and you're saying :

당신이 당신의 나라에 대해 이야기할 때

"Oh my God, in my country, we have the most amazing bitches!"

"맙소사, 우리 나라에는 가장 놀라운 년들이 있습니다!"라고 말할 때 말입니다.

People will look at you like :

사람들은 당신을 다음과 같이 볼 것입니다:

Bitches, you know, the sand, the sea..

암캐들, 알다시피, 모래, 바다..

Oh, beaches!

오, 해변들!

I thought you said bitches!

나는 당신이 [ __ ]이라고 말한 줄 알았는데!

So, this is a classic :

그래서 이것은 고전입니다.

is it /i:/ or /ɪ/?

/i:/입니까 아니면 /ɪ/입니까?

Ship or sheep?

배 또는 양?

So, you may have heard that the only difference is it's a long sound for /i:/ and a short sound for /ɪ/

따라서 유일한 차이점은 /i:/의 긴 소리와 /ɪ/의 짧은 소리,

Long sound for sheep, short sound for ship.

양의 긴 소리, 배의 짧은 소리라는 점입니다.

Same for sheet and shit.

But there's more to it in that,

And I'm gonna show you two ways that you can definitely make the sounds without any mistakes!

그리고 실수 없이 확실히 소리를 낼 수 있는 두 가지 방법을 보여드리겠습니다!

First, just look at my mouth, that's a weird thing to ask!

먼저 내 입을 좀 봐, 물어보는 게 이상해!

But look at my mouth!

하지만 내 입을 봐!

When I say these two words : Beach ... Bitch

내가 이 두 단어를 말할 때: Beach... Bitch

Now, let's try without sound!

이제 소리 없이 해보자!

Do you see the difference?

차이점이 보이시나요?

Bitch

Bitch

Your mouth is more closed.

입이 더 다물어졌어.

Bitch

Bitch

and with beach,

와 해변과 함께,

your mouth makes a smily mouth, which is good!

당신의 입이 웃는 입을 만들어요, 좋습니다!

Beach

해변

but,

이지만

you could also make this sound regardless of what mouth shape you make!

입 모양에 관계없이이 소리를 낼 수도 있습니다!

For example : bitch, beach.

예: 암캐, 해변.

I did the same mouth shape and produced two different sounds!

같은 입 모양을 하고 두 가지 다른 소리를 내었습니다!

So there's more to it in that!

It's what happens inside the mouth that's the real secret.

And to do this, I'll use a pen!

I don't know whose pen this is, I don't know where it's been!

So, with Bitch,

그래서 Bitch에서는

your tongue stays down,

혀가 아래에 있고

with Beach, your tongue comes up and closes the gap inside your mouth!

Beach에서는 혀가 위로 올라와 입 안의 틈을 닫습니다!

So, you see, to make the /i:/

보시다시피, /i:/를 만들려면

I have to lift my tongue up,

to get that /i:/

/i:/를 얻기 위해

Because what it's doing, it's closing the mouth to get a higher pitch sound!
