An English Lesson about Thanksgiving and Thankfulness

Well, happy Thanksgiving.

Bob, the Canadian here.

Welcome to this little video about Thanksgiving,

a holiday that we have in the fall,

or autumn, here in Canada.

Thanksgiving weekend is a holiday

where we don't work on the Monday.

Today is actually Thanksgiving Day.

And the greeting we use on Thanksgiving

is Happy Thanksgiving.

So Happy Thanksgiving to all of you

who are watching this video.

I just wanted to tell you a little bit about Thanksgiving,

a little bit about the things I am thankful for.

And then I wanted to ask you about

the things that you are thankful for,

about the things that you are grateful for.

So, let's talk about Thanksgiving.

On Thanksgiving weekend,

we usually spend time with family.

This past Saturday, Jen and I and the kids

went to Jen's parents' place

and we had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

We had turkey, we had potatoes,

we had different kinds of vegetables

and it was really, really yummy.

It was really, really tasty.

And during that time,

we got to spend time with Jen's brothers and sisters

and their spouses and all of my nieces and nephews,

so it was a really enjoyable Saturday

evening Thanksgiving dinner.

My own family is not actually having

Thanksgiving dinner until next weekend.

We've delayed it by one week,

so we are going to get together this coming

weekend and have a Thanksgiving dinner.

And we'll have the same kind of dinner.

We'll probably go to my sister's house.

Thanksgiving in Canada though is a little earlier

than Thanksgiving in the United States.

Our Thanksgiving in Canada is in October.

In the United States, Thanksgiving is in November.

So we do it just a little bit

earlier than our American cousins.

Besides spending time with family,

though, one of the things that we do during Thanksgiving

is we think about the things that we are thankful for.

We think about the things that we are grateful for.

So there are a few things that I want

to share with you that I am thankful for.

I am thankful that my heart is working really, really well.

For those of you that don't know,

about a year and a half ago,

I had heart surgery to repair a heart valve.

And I have been feeling pretty good lately.

I try to eat healthy,

I try to walk everyday,

and I feel pretty good.

So I am thankful that my heart is working well.

I am also thankful for my wife, Jen,

who some of you met in one of my livestreams.

I'll put a link up here actually to that livestream

if you're interested in watching it.

So I'm thankful that I have a really,

really beautiful, awesome, cool wife named Jen,

and I'm also very thankful for all of my five children.

There's a lot of them,

and I am thankful for each and every one of them.

I am thankful for my wife,

and I am thankful for my kids.

I'm also thankful for all of my brothers

and sisters and for my mom and for my in-laws

and all of my brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws as well,

and all of my nieces and nephews.

So I'm thankful for my heart,

I'm thankful for Jen.

I'm also thankful that my YouTube channel is doing well.

I'm just really happy and really thankful

that so many of you find these videos useful,

and that so many of you watch them.

It's just really nice for me to know that

when I spend some time making an English lesson

that so many of you who are learning English are benefiting.

So I am very thankful for all of you.

I am thankful for every single person

that has clicked that red subscribe button.

There is a lot of you now.

So thank you very much.

Please know that I am thankful,

I am very grateful that you watch my videos.

You guys are awesome.

You are just the best people in the world.

So I am thankful for that as well.

I'm thankful for many things,

I'm thankful for my job,

I'm thankful for where I live.

What I do want to say though is that my life is not perfect.

Just because I am saying and mentioning

the things I am thankful for,

it doesn't mean that I am having the perfect life.

I have my own challenges,

I'm sure you do as well.

And I would just wish for you that you can make

your way through those challenges as best as you can.

But here's the last part of the video.

I wanna know what you are grateful for.

I won't be able to respond to all of these,
