So, we're using poetry to help us to break

Today we're looking at my poem “Discombobulation”.

My grey-matter in a muddle

Retrieving memory is a struggle

What was it Anna taught me

That’ll do the trick surely

Cela fera sûrement l'affaire

To say this with perfection

Pour dire cela avec perfection

Requires differentiation

Nécessite une différenciation

Alright, let's break it down.

Très bien, décomposons-le.

“Please pronounce pronunciation”

"S'il vous plaît prononcez la prononciation"

So, this obviously it's in speech marks, quotation marks.

Donc, c'est évidemment entre guillemets.

So, it's as if we are being asked by a teacher to do this pronunciation.

Donc, c'est comme si un professeur nous demandait de faire cette prononciation.

And then this is how I'm feeling “Sense the discombobulation”

Et puis c'est comme ça que je me sens "Ressentez la discombobulation"

Can you feel my sudden confusion like my brain is not working.

Pouvez-vous sentir ma confusion soudaine comme si mon cerveau ne fonctionnait pas.

“My grey-matter...”

"Ma matière grise..."

This is a word for brain.

C'est un mot pour cerveau.

“My grey-matter in a muddle”

"Ma matière grise dans la confusion"

‘To be in a muddle’ is to be a little mixed up a little bit confused.

"Être dans la confusion", c'est être un peu mêlé un peu confus.

“My grey-matter in a muddle Retrieving memory is a struggle”

"Ma matière grise dans la confusion Retrouver la mémoire est un combat"

To retrieve memory is just to try and get a memory back, to try and remember something.

Retrouver la mémoire, c'est juste essayer de récupérer une mémoire, essayer de se souvenir de quelque chose.

“Retrieving memory is a struggle”

« Retrouver la mémoire est un combat »

It's difficult.

C'est difficile.

“What was it Anna taught me That’ll do the trick surely”

"Qu'est-ce qu'Anna m'a appris ? Ça fera sûrement l'affaire"

If something does the trick, it means it works.

Si quelque chose fait l'affaire, cela signifie que ça marche.

That will work.

Ça marchera.

If I remember what Anna taught me.

Si je me souviens de ce qu'Anna m'a appris.

That will work.

Ça marchera.

Surely.

Sûrement.

“To say this with perfection Requires differentiation”

"Pour dire cela avec perfection Nécessite une différenciation"

To differentiate between two things.

Pour différencier deux choses.

That's what we need is we need differentiation, a clear defined difference between, in this

C'est ce dont nous avons besoin, c'est d'une différenciation, une différence clairement définie entre, dans ce

case, two vowel sounds.

cas, deux voyelles.

So, what were the vowel sounds?

Alors, quels étaient les sons des voyelles ?

Let's think about the exercises that Anna had taught to differentiate between “bun

Réfléchissons aux exercices qu'Anna avait enseignés pour faire la différence entre "bun

and bow”, “hun and how”, “pun and pow”, “sun sow”, “won wow” and then

and bow", "hun and how", "pun and pow", "sun sow", "won wow" et puis

for these words, pronunciation, we have “NUN” and “NOW”.

pour ces mots, la prononciation, nous avons " NUN » et « MAINTENANT ».

And that's it.

Et c'est tout.

We've got it.

“nun now” “nun now”

Nous l'avons.

« nonne maintenant » « nonne maintenant »

“nun noun”

« nonne nom »

Now, we're extending it to sound closer to the word.

Maintenant, nous l'étendons pour qu'il sonne plus près du mot.

“Switch them around Noun nun

« Inversez-les Nom nonne

That’s how it’s done ProNOUNce ProNUNc…

C'est comme ça ProNOUNce ProNUNc…

There’s all this repetition.

Il y a toute cette répétition.

Because that's how we improve our pronunciation.

Parce que c'est ainsi que nous améliorons notre prononciation.

Repetition.

Répétition.

Repetition.

Then “Sense the exhilaration”.

Puis "Ressentez l'euphorie".

To be exhilarated is to be so happy and excited, overwhelmed with happiness.

Être exalté, c'est être si heureux et excité, submergé de bonheur.

“Sense the exhilaration”.

"Sentez l'euphorie".
