Yes, is to be certain.

Sim, é para ter certeza.

You are sure.

Você está certo.

You know that thing is real.

Você sabe que essa coisa é real.

You are positive that you are correct.

Você tem certeza de que está correto.

To agree with something normally means ‘yes, I agree with you’.

Concordar com algo normalmente significa “sim, concordo com você”.

‘Yes, you are right’.

'Sim você está certo'.

‘Yes it is true’.

'Sim, é verdade'.

If you want to show that you agree with something, you will say ‘yes’.

Se quiser mostrar que concorda com alguma coisa, você dirá “sim”.

To allow something to happen also means ‘yes’.

Permitir que algo aconteça também significa “sim”.

You agree to do something.

Você concorda em fazer algo.

You agree to allow something.

Você concorda em permitir algo.

You express the affirmative.

Você expressa a afirmativa.

You say ‘yes’.

Você diz sim'.

If you want to express the feeling of being unsure,

or uncertain about something, then you will say, ‘maybe’.

You don't know. You are unsure.

You don't have all the information,

so it is hard to make a clear choice.

We can also use ‘perhaps’ as a way of expressing uncertainty.

‘Unsureness’ can be described as a ‘Grey area’.

To give a definite answer, expressing the negative of ‘yes’, we will say ‘no’.

To disagree or decline an offer, often means ‘no’.

You don't want something, or you will not allow something to happen.
