Before I begin I would like to  give you a little brainteaser,

As you know I love food.

아시다시피 저는 음식을 좋아합니다.

And I couldn’t resist mentioning  an expression that is used

그리고 방금 들은

before we think about something we’ve just heard.

것에 대해 생각하기 전에 사용되는 표현을 언급하지 않을 수 없었습니다.

The phrase is…‘Food for thought’.

문구는… '생각을위한 음식'입니다.

A thing heard or read that  resonates or lingers in your mind,

듣거나 읽은 것이 마음에 울려 퍼지거나 남아 있거나 무언가에 대한 관점을 바꿀

or has the possibility to  change your view of something

가능성이 있는 것은

might be described as ‘food for thought’.

'생각할 거리'라고 할 수 있습니다.

“That speech of yours has given  me lots of food for thought.”

“당신의 그 연설은 저에게 많은 생각거리를 주었습니다.”

The thing said has given you something  new or challenging to think about.

그 말은 당신에게 생각하기에 새롭거나 도전적인 것을 주었다.

It has fed some new information into your brain.

그것은 당신의 두뇌에 새로운 정보를 공급했습니다.

It has made you think deeply  about a certain idea or topic.

특정 아이디어나 주제에 대해 깊이 생각하게 만들었습니다.

You might even change your opinion because of it.

당신은 그것 때문에 당신의 의견을 바꿀 수도 있습니다.

That new idea or opinion has given you  something to chew over in your mind.

그 새로운 아이디어나 의견은 당신의 마음 속에 씹어먹을 무언가를 주었습니다.

It has given you some ‘food for thought’.

그것은 당신에게 '생각할 음식'을 제공했습니다.

Can you see what is behind me?

It is something that is hidden  away, so it might be hard to see.

숨겨진 것이어서 잘 보이지 않을 수도 있습니다.

Oh there it is.

아, 있군요.

This is a nest box.

이것은 둥지 상자입니다.

It is an artificial space  where bird eggs can be nurtured

병아리가

until the chicks growing inside  them are ready to hatch out.

부화할 준비가 될 때까지 새 알을 키울 수 있는 인공 공간입니다.

So this nest box will allow a pair  of birds to add their own bedding,

따라서 이 둥지 상자를 사용하면 한 쌍 의 새가

such as grass and moss to the inside of the box.

상자 내부에 풀과 이끼와 같은 자신의 침구를 추가할 수 있습니다.

The word nest can be used in many ways.

둥지라는 단어는 여러 가지로 사용될 수 있습니다.

To hide something away in a  safe place as a verb is nest.

동사로 안전한 곳에 무언가를 숨기는 것은 중첩입니다.

You nest; you place something  away for safe keeping.

당신은 중첩; 안전한 보관을 위해 무언가를 치워 두는 경우 수년에 걸쳐 저축한 돈의

You can have a nest egg, which is a sum of  money that is saved over a number of years.

합계인 둥지 알을 가질 수 있습니다 .

The money is often invested  so as to gather interest.

이자를 모으기 위해 돈을 투자하는 경우가 많습니다.

You want your money to be worth more  in the future for when you retire.

당신은 당신이 은퇴할 때를 위해 당신의 돈이 미래에 더 가치 있기를 원합니다.

So a nest egg is something that  will be used at a later date.

따라서 둥지 알은 나중에 사용될 것입니다. 특정 위치

A large quantity or number of animals living in  a certain location can be described as a nest.

에 서식하는 많은 수의 동물을 둥지라고 할 수 있습니다.

A collection of furniture that belongs together

and is easy to pack away and  store can be described as a nest.

있고 짐을 싸고 보관하기 쉬운 가구 컬렉션을 둥지라고 할 수 있습니다.

For example, you can have a nest of tables.

예를 들어 테이블 중첩을 가질 수 있습니다.

All the different sized tables  can be store inside each other.

크기가 다른 모든 테이블은 서로 내부에 보관할 수 있습니다.

A place where a person likes to rest and  relax so as to feel cosy and safe is a nest.

사람이 아늑하고 안전하다고 느끼기 위해 쉬고 쉬고 싶어하는 곳이 보금자리입니다.

Hopefully soon there will be a family  of birds nesting inside this nest box.

곧 이 둥지 상자 안에 새 가족이 둥지를 틀기를 바랍니다.

A pair of birds will build a nest together  and raise their own brood of chicks.

한 쌍의 새가 함께 둥지를 짓고 새끼를 낳습니다. 그곳에는

I wonder what type of bird  will be living in there.

어떤 종류의 새가 살고 있을지 궁금합니다.

Could it be a pair of blue tits perhaps?

파란 젖가슴 한 쌍일까요?

We will have to wait and see.

It’s time to take a look at another buzzword.

또 다른 유행어를 살펴볼 때입니다.

A buzzword is a word or phrase that  is often used during a certain period,

유행어는 특정 시기에 자주 사용되거나

or is generally popular.

일반적으로 유행하는 단어나 구문입니다.

Today’s buzzword is… ‘Generic’

오늘의 유행어는... '제네릭'입니다.

The word ‘generic’ can be used  as both an adjective and a noun.

'제네릭'이라는 단어는 형용사와 명사 모두로 사용할 수 있습니다.

As an adjective; ‘generic’ means to belong to a  group with no precise or exact classification.

형용사로; '일반'은 정확하거나 정확한 분류가 없는 그룹에 속한다는 의미입니다.

The thing in question is named by its group,

문제의 대상은 단일 특성을 명명하지 않고 해당 그룹에 의해 명명됩니다

without naming a singular characteristic.

We are using its generic name. The overall  characteristics are being identified generically,

우리는 일반적인 이름을 사용하고 있습니다. 전반적인 특성은

as belonging to a certain group or ‘genus’.

특정 그룹 또는 '속'에 속하는 것으로 일반적으로 식별되고 있습니다.

Certain types of medicine with no clear brand  name are often referred to as ‘generic’.

명확한 상표명이 없는 특정 유형의 의약품은 종종 '제네릭'이라고 합니다. 개인의 정체성이

Something with no clear  individual identity is generic.

명확하지 않은 것은 일반적입니다.

As an insult, a person might  describe an uninspiring idea  

that lacks originality or thought as ‘generic’.

독창성이나 생각이 결여된 영감을 주지 않는 아이디어를 '일반적인' 것으로 모욕하는 사람이 있을 수 있습니다.

As a noun, ‘generic’ refers  to an unbranded product

명사로서 '제네릭'은 브랜드가 없는 제품을 말하며

and is normally associated with types of medicine.

일반적으로 의약품 유형과 관련이 있습니다.

Can you see what I’m doing over there?

I'm sitting on the fence.

나는 울타리에 앉아있다.

I am enjoying the view and  taking in some fresh air.

나는 경치를 즐기고 신선한 공기를 들이마십니다.

There is a phrase that exists  in English which refers  

to the position in which I’m sitting right now.

내가 지금 앉아 있는 위치를 나타내는 영어에 존재하는 문구가 있습니다.

To; ‘sit on the fence’. This phrase  refers to a person who cannot,

에게; '담장에 앉아'. 이 문구는

or will not express their own opinion or take  any particular side in a dispute or argument.

자신의 의견을 표현하거나 분쟁이나 논쟁에서 특정 편을 들 수 없거나 하지 않으려는 사람을 말합니다. 개인적인 의견을 표현

To remain neutral without  expressing your personal opinion  

하지 않고 중립을 유지하는 것은

can be described as ‘sitting on the fence’.

'담장에 앉아 있는 것'으로 설명할 수 있습니다.

You might be willing to listen to the discussion,  but you are unwilling to get involved directly.

토론에 귀를 기울이고 싶지만 직접 참여하고 싶지는 않을 수 있습니다.

We often use this expression negatively  

when describing a person who seems  unwilling to express their own thoughts.

자신의 생각을 표현하기를 꺼려하는 사람을 묘사할 때 이 표현을 부정적으로 사용하는 경우가 많습니다.

“You two can argue all day, but if you  don’t mind I would rather sit on the fence.”

"너희 둘이 하루종일 말다툼해도 상관없지만, 괜찮다면 차라리 담장에 앉아 있겠어."

“There you go again, avoiding the  problem by sitting on the fence.”

"그럼 울타리에 앉아 문제를 피하면서 또 간다."

“You will have to get involved at some  point; you can’t keep sitting on the fence.”

“언젠가는 참여해야 할 것입니다 . 울타리에 계속 앉아있을 수는 없습니다.”

To sit on the fence is to remain  neutral. You don’t want to get involved.

담장에 앉는 것은 중립을 유지하는 것입니다 . 당신은 관여하고 싶지 않습니다.

You would rather keep your opinion to yourself.

당신은 오히려 당신 자신의 의견을 유지합니다.

You abstain, withhold, hold back, decline.

당신은 기권하고, 보류하고, 보류하고, 거절합니다. 의견, 결정 또는 선택을 표현

You keep your feelings to yourself by not  expressing an opinion, decision or choice.

You have chosen to ‘sit on the fence’.

The answer is… Bean.

답은… 콩입니다. 의자의 일종인

You can have a ‘bean bag’,  which is a type of chair.

'빈백'을 가질 수 있습니다 .

You can have a bean stalk, which is  the main support body of a bean plant.

콩 식물의 주요 지지체인 콩 줄기를 가질 수 있습니다.

Then there is ‘bean counter’, which  is a slang term for ‘accountant’.

그리고 '회계사'를 뜻하는 속어인 '콩 카운터'가 있습니다 .

Then there is ‘runner bean’,  which is a type of creeping plant.

그리고 기어다니는 식물의 일종인 '러너 빈'이 있습니다 .

And of course there is ‘baked bean’,

그리고 토스트에 토마토 소스와 잘 어울리는 맛있는 음식인 '구운 콩'도 있습니다

which is a delicious type of food that  goes well with tomato sauce on toast.
