Yes, June is just around the corner.

And of course, we always get very excited at this time of year

in England and across the UK.

Because June is when summer begins,

when those lovely, long, warm days read or turn.

And it does seem as if we've been waiting for a very long time.

I don't know why the winter that is just past

the winter that ended a few weeks ago.

It seemed very long.

It seemed like a very long winter. I don't know why.

And the weather wasn't even that bad.

It wasn't a bad winter.

It was quite mild, a little wet, but not very cold.

But here we are on the verge

of June arriving.

In fact, it will be with us on Wednesday,

as I will be on Wednesday.

Enough of that for now.

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, all I can think about

It's not very nice, not a very nice way to start today.

Anyway, here we go. Yes, it is.

We have made it all the way to the end of another week.

Today we are looking at the subject of obsession.

Or something? You can't stop thinking about

something you can't stop doing.

Talking of which, just before I started today's live stream, Mr.

Steve was busy in the kitchen.

So this is what Steve was doing.

Just before I started today's live stream.

In fact, you can see the clock.

So around about half an hour before I started my live stream, Mr.

Steve was busy in the kitchen preparing today's meal.

He is making a super duper casserole

in our wonderful slow cooker.

And there, I think

Mr. Steve is now going to fry some onions and celery.

To be honest with you, I don't like celery,

but I don't want to tell Mr.

Steve

so that the little white thing

you can see there, it looks like a large pot that is what Mr.

Steve is going to cook the casserole in.

And it's a great thing we I can't tell you

how much we love this machine.

You can just put all of the food

into the slow cooker and then leave it

and then it cooks on its own and you can leave it there all day.

And then at the end of it, you have a lovely meal there.

You can see my

my hand making a guest appearance.

So there it is, the slow cooker and Mr.

Steve slowly frying the onions and celery.

I'm sure Steve will be talking all about

that later on when he joins us in a roundabout.

The second 70 years.

70 sitting on the throne.

She's been sitting on the throne for so long.

Her bottom has gone numb.

So next weekend, yes.

Here in the U.K., we are celebrating the 70th

anniversary of the Queen

first, the first

the first time she ever put her bottom onto her throne.

It is the Jubilee celebration oceans.

And they are not taking place over one day,

not two days, not even three days.

We have a whole four days

of Jubilee celebrations coming up next weekend.

And here and much Wenlock yes,

we are getting ready for it as well.

The celebrations are well being prepared at the moment.

We are looking at obsession becoming obsessed with things.

Do you ever have some sort of obsession an obsession,

something that you can't stop doing or something you can't stop thinking about?

An obsession is something that can become a small part of your life.

But unfortunately, if you allow it to become too much

or too big a part of your life,

then you might find that that obsession becomes

more and more part of everything you do.

So it is a bad thing.

Obsession then can be a bad thing.

Of course you can have a good obsession as well.

So you might be obsessed about learning a certain subject.

Maybe you are keen to learn English

so you can become obsessed with the English language.

But of course, obsessions

can sometimes be bad things as well.

You might be too obsessed with something.

The thing you are crazy about,

the thing that you love doing or the thing you love looking at

can take over your whole life.

So you do have to be careful when we are talking about obsessions.

An obsession is something that you can't stop doing,

something you can't stop thinking about.

You can have a small obsession

or you can have a big obsession with something.

Something you can't stop thinking about.

I have an obsession for animals.

You may have noticed that I love nature.

And this week I've been out in the garden

filming the rabbits.

And yes, more than one rabbit.

There are some baby rabbits in the garden and also one adult.

Well, not just one.

Not just two, but three rabbits that were running around my garden this week.

Having a lot of fun in the sun.

Although, sadly, there isn't much sunshine around today.

It is a little dull, a little wet today.

We've had a lot of rain.

But the good news is, because June is approaching,

of course, June is when summer is really in the air.

Well, Mr. Duncan, I've been very busy. I've been cooking.

Well, we have our special feature.

Steve has been busy.

Just about half an hour before we came

on, and Steve was very busy in the kitchen,

and there he was earlier preparing today's meal.

And we are having a lovely casserole today. We are.

So if you're a vegetarian, then

luxury is.

Well, you can see you can have vegetable casserole going.

Yes, but this one's a meat one.

Oh, this has to be. Yes. So which which particular meat?

It's beef.

We're having beef casserole today.

So I was following the recipe there that I printed out on the Internet on Friday.

Ing the onions and some celery very lightly.

I did mention earlier that I'm not a big fan of celery however, when it's cooked,

I always think that celery is much better when it's cooked.

But I don't like raw celery to be honest.

No. So there we go. That's supposed to add flavour.

That's the beef stock there.

I'm just putting moving around there.

That's our new obsession, the slow cooker.

I know we like it, which is probably about 30 years old, that slow cooker.

So this is the thing that Steve's mum gave to us

about three years ago and we hardly used it.

But this year, because the price of everything is going up,

we've decided to start making food and preparing food

and keeping it for maybe two or three days.

And this particular device is brilliant.

I have to say.

It has become our new obsession

which just happens to be what we're talking about today.

So I'm frying the vegetables very lightly.

Then I'm then after that, which Mr.

Duncan didn't have time to film, I'm

lightly browning the meat, OK?

And then I'm shoving everything into the slow cooker there,

which is off at the moment, but I have remembered to switch it on.

Good.

I'm adding lots of other lovely ingredients, which, if you looked at, you can see

Polaris here, Claudia has also been frying onions.

OK, don't spoil it, Steve.

Well, I'm just thrown on it so everyone can see it.

Just just just hold on.

I don't know what is cooking but.

So. So there are onions involved

perhaps it's just onions.

And this frighten you?

A little bit earlier, I showed the rabbits in the garden,

and Claudia actually asked all rabbits.

A nuisance.

Do people like having rabbits in the garden?

Well, I have to be honest, I can't think of any reason why you would hate having a rabbit.

Maybe if you are a farmer,

that's the only reason why I could

imagine a farmer being annoyed.

But maybe genuinely, I think people are quite happy

to see rabbits running around on their on their grass.

Well, the thing is, they eat plants, Mr Duncan, so the farmers don't like them.

They breed very quickly as an expression we have in the UK. Yes.

Is there anything that that breeds rapidly or multiplies itself a lot?

We say it breeds like rabbits.

Yes, because as we all know, rabbits are quite frisky.

Yes. OK, let's not do that again now.

Yes. Don't go down that road.

You know, once you've got one or two rabbits very quickly, you'll soon have

exponential growth in that population.

Exponential, yes.

Exponential, yes.

Increasing sort of more and more rapidly. Yeah. It's

so lovely.

It's a lovely expression. I like that expression. Yes.

But yes.

So you have the nicest pets, but probably, you know, I'm hoping never to have to mow the lawn again

if we get lots of rabbits, Mr Das, maybe you probably need about 50.

I think I may never have to mow the lawn again.

That's it.

So the rabbits could come every day and they could, they could chew the grass, they could eat it.

The only problem is they would leave lots of poop

because rabbit poop is very strange.

It looks like a little round black balls.

So have you seen rabbit poop?

It's very strange.

And the problem is, if you have lots of rabbits, then you will have lots of rabbit poop everywhere.

And I don't think that would be a good thing.

Za'atari now has just reminded me that I need to add some red wine.

Oh, do we have any red wine?

Well, we do, but the trouble is because we don't drink it.

Yes, we'd have to open a bottle just to put a little bit

into the beef stew, which seems a bit of a waste.

I can hear people crying.

Well, just drink the rest of it. Yes.

We don't drink alcohol.

We're not.

We're not really big drinkers of alcohol, so we have lots of wine,

but you can get cooking wine as well, I believe.

Is there a special kind of wine you can get for cooking?

For maybe poor quality wine? That I might add?

I've got some grape juice so I might just add a little bit of that.

So it's got the hasn't got the alcohol, but it's got, you know, it's close, isn't it?

Yeah, it's it's near. It's close.

It's red maybe if I add some great red grape juice, which I like to drink,

plus maybe a little bit of vinegar and that'll be very close to the wine.

Sounds good. Yes, yes, yes.

Rabbits like carrots.

Well, we've got some carrots left over, so maybe we can give them to them later. Hmm.

All I'm going to say to you is

I can't join your group because I've only got one phone and it's a work phone.

Now, next weekend is a big weekend for us

living here as subjects

of the British royal family.

As we celebrate, we are going to celebrate the Queen of England

sitting on her bum

on her big golden throne for 70 years.

That's a long time, by the way, to be sitting somewhere.

I say next weekend.

We don't we don't just have one day.

We have four days.

They're even giving us a holiday as well. So.

So are you having days off?

Yes, they're giving everybody to work days off

next Thursday and Friday in the UK.

But the celebrations, I believe, go on for four days.

So Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yes.

And we are of course with you next Sunday.

So we might be joining in somehow.

I'm not sure how.

Maybe we will have.

Well, we've been invited, haven't we?

Invited where to live the Queen's Palace.

Well, yes, I mean, it's nice to celebrate these things.

You know, we all love our queen.

What most of us do in the UK

obviously there are people who are anti royalist.

Yes, but they're not anti they're not sort of burning down Buckingham Palace,

but they are sort of hoping maybe in the future

there will be a more fair or a fairer way of life.

Well, first of all, a lot of tax goes towards keeping the queen on her golden throne.

So I think that is the thing that a lot of people get quite annoyed by.

But here in much Wenlock Steve you won't find many people

who you won't find many non royalists in much Wenlock here in much Wenlock

we have been preparing for the celebrations

next weekend and we we have really gone

to a lot of trouble here in much Wenlock Oh yes, it looks amazing.

Everything is very colourful.

to go away maybe into the countryside or to visit another place,

I mean, yes, I mean, wind, we're not anti.

But I think the thing is, you know, I think

four days is a bit much well, you know, I think I know it's 70 years

and it's very special, but I think four days is a bit over the top.

I think it's more special to the Queen because because really she's

been living in a lovely Golden Palace for 70 years.

It's very nice.

She's been working hard and she has been working hard. Yes.

Very hard work.

Father, you know,

their lives are very, very sort of you know, it's not an easy life.

No, it is not.

Especially when your son is being chased for

various crimes.

I don't think I would like to be a member of the royal family.

Always in the public eye must be very difficult to live like that still.

It could be it could be worse. You could be Prince Harry.

You're born into it, aren't you?

That you can't you can't choose your parents.

As far as we know, people might think that we can.

And you know, there's 11 school of

thought that, you know, we choose our parents.

But I know that there is a

I thought process or a belief that we choose our parents.

But anyway, I was probably rubbish. Hello, David.

I like if you're watching, but you can't.

Let's assume you can't choose your parents.

If you happen to be born into the royal family, then you can't do much about it, can you?

What are you going to do?

You're going to say I'm going to be a commoner.

Well, that's what's happened.

Prince Harry's done that.

Well, it has happened. He doesn't want to be part of it.

He doesn't want to be part of the firm yet, but he still wants all the benefits

that go with having that sort of royal connexion,

which isn't quite the same thing.

So if you become a common and a commoner is somebody

who is anyone that's not in the royal family, I prefer peasant.

We are peasants.

Mr Stephen myself, we are just peasants.

We are subjects to the to the royalty that that oversees everything.

Although in the past, the royal family were a little bit more

they were they were more harsh.

I will be honest with you, if they didn't like someone, they used to chop their heads off.

So at least that stopped.

We're not we're not doing that anymore.

Of course, many, many countries like have run very close to us.

The French got rid of their royal family

some time ago and

and they're a republic and some people want us to be born.

But I can't see that happening unless somebody makes a very big mistake.

Yeah, but there's no chance of us chopping the queen's head off.

I don't think that's going to happen, you know, but they might anyway, right? Yes.

Well, I'm not sure what we're going to report.

The queen will be waving to all of the peasants

who have been lining up in the street to wave at the richest woman in the world.

I personally can't wait, as a lot of people

now are trying to actually find money to pay for food

to put on their tables, to feed their children and to heat their houses.

But it's great.

You know, I think it's great that we should all stand around and wave to a multi-millionaire

whilst we are all trying our best to actually survive another day.

No, it's great. Yes. Yes, Nancy, it is.

To a lot of people, it's very going to be an important time.

Of course, things aren't what they used to be because we were we were reminiscing

yesterday, reminiscing and looking back into the past,

usually in a pleasant way.

Or recalling pleasant events.

Normally, if you reminisce, don't you?

And we were recalling events

where when there were jubilees, when we were children, they used to be sort of mass street parties.

Celebrations would take place during the Japanese events when it was sort of

when we were growing up with it being the 25th or something like that,

I seem to remember the 25th jubilee, whenever that was.

And the street parties everywhere that was in the eighties.

Well, no, the so this

the Silver Jubilee took place in 1977 where we go. Yes.

And there were lots of street parties so that was the Queen's Silver Jubilee.

So next weekend it is the Platinum Jubilee.

So the Queen of England will be celebrated

next week and yes, way back in 1977

we had lots of street parties, we had one where I lived.

My father actually did all the catering,

all of the cooking for the St Street Party that we had.

So we had a street party, especially for the Queen's Silver

Jubilee, way back in 1977 to its

allies, its

peasants, peasants, not pheasants,

although although both of them get shot from time to time.

Yes, just take the H out and you'll be quite close to that.

So yeah, not

sort of large feathered birds, no peasants as sort of common

is there people that are poor and anybody is not the queen.

Basically the hoi polloi. Yes.

Peasants, you peasants down there, the ordinary folk

proletariat, ordinary people plebs,

the riffraff.

There's lots of words by the way for for people who

who just are servants of the royal family.

And of course we are because we all have to pay for it.

It comes out of our tax.

So part of our money that we earn and let's face it, we don't earn much

goes to the queen.

So she can have some new golden baths, taps.

I don't think it's quite like that, mr. King

being a little disingenuous.

I don't think she's sort of flicking through catalogues of golden bath taps.

I think she is deciding which ones to get.

She's got about 120 rooms.

Is it do you think she goes onto Amazon and looks have

golden solid gold bath taps to look there on there.

You could probably get gold plated ones.

I think she probably goes to IKEA probably.

I think so.

I think she's quite down to earth. Really?

Really. Yes, I think she's yes.

I mean she was born into that

the queen of England beauty.

The Queen of England is down to earth.

I think she's she's fairly you know, she's not

a nasty person.

Our heart's in the right place.

So wasn't there a certain situation with a young lady

called Princess Diana where the Queen sulked and went away

If you haven't had an obsession for something,

maybe a teenage boy might become obsessed with with girls, you see.

And so you might say that that is a healthy obsession because it's just he's curious to find out.

A girl might also have a healthy obsession with boys.

She might just want to find out what's it all about, you see,

so it can happen.

I think you can have a healthy obsession,

but of course, it is possible to also have the opposite.

on a particular individual, you might stalk them.

because if you've got to get up in the morning and go to work, you don't be running a bath,

take forever you just jump in the shower and then you're done in 5 minutes out.

we all used to bathe

in the same bath water not at the same time.

So I don't think I ever had a clean bath when I was a kid.

I think I used to get into my sister's filth

and just splash around in that was quite common.

So we only had enough hot water for one bath,

but we all had to get in one after the other.

the dirtiest, filthiest place

that you can imagine because especially if they're a kids in there,

if there are kids nearby, I can guarantee

100% that at least one of them has taken a pee

in the pool this is the problem with public speaking.

You don't actually think about it very much when you when you go

into a public swimming, that's that's all I think about.

You are literally bathing

in the same water that everybody else has been in.

So you know, you're supposed to shower before you go in to a public swimming baths.

It's what they like you to do. Yes.

Because how many people actually do it?

It's not compulsory and some people just go to the public pool just to take a bath.

I know they put chlorine in there, but nevertheless,

it's a bit off putting and not when it's going into your mouth.

I know sometimes it goes into your mouth, into your eyes.

And, you know, I know somebody who actually works at a swimming

at a public swimming baths and teaches children how to swim.

And she said the things that they have to scoop out of out of the pool.

You know, solid waste.

Let's leave it at that, because the children sometimes get a bit excited

no way.

No way are kids taking poops in the pool.

They do. Apparently they do.

And so do adults.

I can't believe it. Yes.

But anyway, it's it's a large volume of water and this chlorine.

But nevertheless, I don't like the thought that you are

probably ingesting other people's

bodily fluids and not when it's poop.

I mean, there is a I do draw the line.

The other thing is, I mean, I used to go to swimming baths quite a lot.

Oh, you going to pick up athlete's foot, OK?

You're going to get through because I stopped going because I was sick to death of getting for real.

It have to be treated.

And then athlete's foot, which you have to put cream between

your toes is great for five weeks to get rid of it.

I just got sick to death of it.

You know I haven't been to a public pool for many,

many years, many, many years.

In fact, the last time I went to a swimming pool, I remember it was in China when I was in China and I,

I went along there and I

went down one of those slides into the water.

But what I didn't realise is as I went down

my my swimming costume at the back ripped

and when I got out the pool,

the whole back of my off my bum was revealed to everyone

and someone ran up to me and they, they were really quite angry.

They must have thought I had done it on purpose.

I don't know why.

But anyway, they gave me a big baggy pair of shorts

to wear instead, which was very embarrassing.

And that did happen to me.

during my time in China

to this horrible clinic and she would use

and when she stopped singing, somebody went up and bashed it up the back of her,

It was crawling higher and higher and any minute we thought it was going to crawl onto her neck.

And somebody she finished a song and then somebody went and flicked it off.

Well, the good thing, though, she would have had no difficulty

reaching those high notes because she would have been just screaming, you see,

So the word obsession names the state

of being unable to stop doing something.

So something you you almost have no control over

might be described as an obsession

to become fixated or too conscious of

something can lead to obsession.

So maybe something that surrounds you or nearby, something you can see,

or maybe something you feel may be part of

your body has changed in some way.

And you keep thinking about it because you're worried.

So obsession is to become fixated

or maybe too conscious of something.

And that can lead to obsession for man oh yeah.

There was a perfume called Obsession as well. Yes.

The thing that is causing the obsession is the object of the fixation.

So when we talk about fixation, we are talking about

one thing that you are looking at, and you can't stop looking at it.

You have a fixation for something.

You keep thinking about it, you keep looking at it, you have a fixation

at your stomach. MR.

My stomach just said hello.

I hope you enjoyed that moment of time.

A person becomes obsessed.

They cannot stop obsessing over something.

They can't stop thinking about it.

The behaviour is often described as obsessive behaviour,

so that type of behaviour

can be categorised as obsessive behaviour.

The way you are acting towards something,

something you can't stop thinking about,

a mild obsession is normal

and usually has no bad effect.

So I think it's fair to say that we all have some sort of obsession

maybe a small thing that we enjoy watching or listening to,

or maybe a person we like talking to,

maybe a certain thing we like listening to,

to be keen on something or to admire

a certain thing or person is

a harmless safe

an obsession that is not harmful.

Sometimes an interest in something can lead to it becoming an obsession.

So you might have a general interest in something, but over time

you might become more and more obsessed with that thing.

You might become too fixated.

Sometimes you have to get obsessed with something.

If you want to become very good at it, I think you can use that word obsession.

So if you've got something you're trying to learn or something that you want to

to do, or a task you want to complete, it,

sometimes you have to get a bit fixated, a bit obsessed.

Otherwise you might not complete what it is that you need to do.

So we can often use that for something that's temporary.

Maybe you could be.

You could be anyway, but we'll go into examples in a minute.

We often find that successful people

are also obsessive about the thing they are doing.

So you might wake up in the morning and you have a business that you want to create,

or maybe a business that you want to run and you want it to be successful.

You have to be obsessed.

So quite often obsession can lead to success.

You can have success from being obsessed with the thing that you enjoy.

The thing in question takes up more and more of an individual's time.

So over time you might become more and more fixated

by that thing, or you are fixated with that thing.

You can't stop thinking about it.

We often refer to obsession as being healthy and unhealthy

so I suppose it's safe to say that

an obsession that many people have might be described as healthy.

So a general obsession that people have

maybe something they think about or they have to remember.

I would say that making sure that you have enough food

to eat might be an obsession.

It is something that you need to do.

Or I suppose another word is compulsion.

So we have to eat don't we, to survive, we have to drink water.

So those things are things you have to remember to do.

Although I think it's fair to say that they are normal

things that you have to be concerned with and think about.

An obsession that

might put others at risk is often described

as unhealthy, always putting yourself

at risk as well. Yes.

So something you can't stop doing,

something you enjoy doing,

or maybe something that might put you in danger or as Steve

said, your own personal risk.

You are putting yourself at risk or maybe other people at risk.

He mentions two words What's the difference between obsess and addict?

Well, I think

I think probably an obsession can turn

into an addiction cat say yes.

So that's when it's becoming more serious.

So you could have an obsession for

you could have an obsession for sex, for example.

You could be obsessed with it.

And then you and then you you seek it everywhere.

And then you can become a bit of an addict, can't you?

You can't.

You could then become what is described as a sex addict.

You're just somebody who can't stop

getting it.

And that's the reason why I said that you can have healthy obsessions.

However, addiction naturally occurring is negative.

So that's OK because that's useful.

And healthy. That's a good thing.

So maybe that is the only addict or addiction that is good.

Being addicted to the English language

so obsession and addiction can be very different things.

You might be obsessed with something, but you're not necessarily addicted to it.

So yes, there is a definite difference.

Some people are obsessed with, with, with looking at famous people.

Aren't they following them?

On Instagram or whatever?

People follow things MySpace, Facebook, that sort of thing.

They might be obsessed with that sort of culture of celebrities.

And they can't stop watching programmes about celebrities

and rich people and looking at their homes and things like that.

You know, you can get obsessed with with things like that.

I would you could you may or may not describe that as an A

I think an addiction is like a medical term as well.

It starts yes.

It starts to have an adverse or destructive effect.

Yes. On a person.

So obsession is not necessarily bad.

Addiction almost always is bad.

Yes. It's actual definition.

It's like it's like, I don't know, it's like

saying a certain word and it only has one use.

Maybe if you punch someone, maybe punching someone is always bad.

There is never a good punch. It's always a bad punch.

Whatever you're doing, if you punch someone, it's never good thing to do with obsession.

Well, it's no addiction.

It's a word that it really is always negative.

However, you use it.

So addiction is always bad.

It's always stressed as being a bad thing.

Yes, obsession isn't.

That's the point I'm making.

So to be obsessed with something isn't necessarily a bad thing

because it can bring good things to you.

For example, if you are running your own company.

So an obsession might put others at risk.

How Mary mentions obsessive compulsive behaviour.

Yes. We're not experts on this kind of psychology, but that is

obviously a that's a that's a medical term, isn't it?

And people can become obsessed with all sorts of things that become

if something is compulsive, it means you can't stop doing it. Yes.

And like washing your hands says

see that means everyone, everyone is OCD.

Well with that one, because all we've been doing for the past two years is washing our hands.

All of us yes.

But some people, eBay, that's discount what's been happening with the pandemic.

There are some people that become obsessed with washing their hands

to the extent that they get sores all over their hands.

In fact, I know somebody whose sister

suffers from this kind of obsessive compulsive

behaviour and their hands are covered

in sores all the time because they're literally constantly washing their hands.

So what you'll referring to is OCD, obsessive compulsive

behaviour or disorder,

and that's when a person cannot control

those compulsions or the obsession they can't stop themselves.

Eating is one.

A lot of people I would say, of a very large amount,

number of people suffer from eating compulsion.

They can't stop because food, let's face it, food

is brilliant.

It really is.

And you can develop an obsession with food where you can't stop yourself.

And then that obsession starts

something you are interested in, but then suddenly you find you can't stop doing it.

Or you want more of it.

Or maybe you do it for a certain reason.

Maybe you are feeling unhappy or maybe you are lonely

and you eat to make yourself feel better.

So there is a big, big difference when we talk about obsession

and compulsion.

I mean, they might, you know, just ordinary things.

We're not we're not trying to delve into your deep

psychological neuroses, but, you know, if you've got an obsession with something,

for example, I used to have an obsession with tires.

Now I've never heard of anybody else.

I had a friend who was he used to laugh at me because I had a bit of an obsession with car tires

and all the different types in the treads

and looking at which ones were quieter

than other ones and and which one would last longer.

What I used to get I was obsessed with reading about tires.

It went on for a number of years.

Which ones are best in the wet?

Which ones are best in the dry?

And, and and tires for all seasons and in the snow.

And then I used to get obsessed with that.

Just, it's just an interest and it wasn't unhealthy for me,

you know, I wasn't collecting car tires.

So you didn't have a room full of tires? No.

But it was an obvious a bit obsessed with it.

And I think as I pointed out before, if you want to

get involved in a particular subject about something and you want to learn about something,

sometimes you have to become a bit obsessed about it in order

for you to to learn everything that you need to learn and to get really good at it.

But that doesn't mean it's unhealthy

you can have an obsession with a person,

you know, like a girl or a boy.

You can be obsessed with them.

You want to look at them all the time,

you want to talk to them, you want to text them, you want to meet them.

You can't get them out of your mind.

That's absurd. That's obsession

about a particular

person because you're attracted to them or whatever

that can become unhealthy

because your behaviours then can be scary or they can be inappropriate.

Yeah, she might start, you might start hanging around outside their house or asking them

or sending them letters or gifts anonymously

to GQ says Michelin is the best yes.

Well, Michelin all season tires.

I've got my eye on some of those.

So because it's it's often used

as a slur against overweight people.

It's they describe them as the Mitchell in Maynard

all season tires, which for us in the UK, when it gets very cold in the winter,

That's my obsession if you live and just if you live in a very hot country, it's hot all the time.

You just put one tire on it, you know, anyway, let's not get into that.

That's our obsession.

It has become a compulsion.

There are many things

that a person might become obsessed with, many things.

A pop group.

You might be obsessed with the latest K-pop

baby beats and you're a big fan of them.

You see K-pop, OK, k

k pop Korea, Korean pop music, or maybe a type of fashion.

Maybe suddenly you want to wear Doc Martens,

big black heavy boots, on.

Now back in fashion, you will see lots of women

wearing big heavy boots quite often.

Quite often.

Doc Martens.

Yes. That's why I said it also. Yes.

Also a certain object or a type of food or a hobby or pastime.

What was that, Steve?

Easy. Access, gambling.

That's an obsession for some people.

You can't stop.

And that that could be seen as an unhealthy obsession

because you could lose lots of money

so the impact of that obsession could be that you lose

lots of of your earnings by being obsessed with gambling

or even if you gamble once, I always say it is a fool's game.

But bamboo for you says, for example,

your obsession, you could be obsessed with formula one

and that might you might end up getting a job in it

because you've become obsessed with a particular subject, you know, like Formula One

you might become so obsessed you

it leads you to developing a career in a particular area.

Well, like that that's what I mean by healthy obsession.

So you kind of have an obsession that is healthy and does not cause any problems.

In fact, it might do the opposite and help your life quite a lot.

Could go work for Mitchell.

When I used to go to car showrooms, I used to be obsessed with learning

all the stats, the statistics of, of, of, you know, the nought to 60, what,

what options are available and all that sort of thing.

And then you go to a car showroom and you if, if then I knew

more about the person that was selling the car to me.

I used to get very disappointed because I would think, well, I've read the brochure,

I know what's available on this car and this, that and the other.

And they don't seem to know that used to upset me.

I used to be, you know, always been obsessed. Yes.

But anyway, yeah, I think with that Valentine, we've definitely gathered

that collecting rare things I stamp smokes.

That can become an obsession.

You're always looking at where, you know, to find the new stamp or the people's underwear

that made you go quite that.

Sometimes an obsession can colour a person's daily life.

a stalker will follow the person they have an obsession for.

They are obsessed with a certain celebrity

or a certain famous person.

In the public eye. I used to have stalkers.

I was on TV and then people knew me and then people started following me around

So so you you have to get maybe a slightly unhealthy

interest spending, probably spending too much time watching.

And of course, YouTube's brilliant for that because this anything you want to learn,

somebody has started a course on that.

So Steve's obsession at the moment is the money market.

Because there are certain people that make YouTube videos and they're

you're aware that it's about their sort of physical appearance.

So what I would do is I would buy one, but then read all the others while I was in the supermarket.

It's not what everybody does in the supermarket.

They read magazines for free.

You are the worst person

you can get away with, you know, standing around for at least 5 minutes reading a magazine.

Nobody ever comes up to you and stops you.

If you are running a newsagent or a bookshop and someone goes in

and all they do is read the book or the magazine and then go,

You are the worst customer

people can be obsessed with exercise, can't they?

That's a very that's a very common thing for people to become obsessed with

having to run runners in particular with cyclists

they want to, because what happens when you start running is you get that sort of

rush of endorphins in your brain makes you feel good.

The old adrenaline, but then you have to run further

to get that same fix and you have to sacrifice.

And people become obsessed with exercise to the point that they get injuries

so that's a common thing to become.

That then turns into an addiction.

You're addicted to exercise and causing yourself physical harm so what about my obsession currently?

Well, it has to be sexy, cheap, sexy, cheap.

That's it.

I love I love sheep, especially when they're attractive and beautiful.

And I follow them around and I wave to them and I call their name,

but they never they never come to me.

They always work away. But but that's OK.

That's all right.

I can live, I can survive.

I can carry on with my life.

Even though one day I know I will I will meet that sheep, that right sheep

that can come and live with as mr.

Steve and stay in the front garden.

And you will never have to cut the grass ever again.

You see, you became very obsessed with.

And you have got

a scent, a genuine obsession with sort of technology. Oh,

and computers for example,

you became very obsessed recently at

learning all about how computers work so that you could build your own.

Yes. That became an obsession over a number of weeks and months,

but that led to a healthy outcome.

You being able to get a new computer, you know, a lot cheaper than if you and a better one

than if you had purchased it from a retail store somewhere.

But generally, do you love reading about cameras

and technology and how it all works?

So I would say that was your sort of main obsession

nothing.

So, yes, that I think so that was your main obsession.

I think it's safe to say that we all have obsessions in our lives, things that we can't stop thinking about.

Most of the time they are harmless

or things that might actually be of benefit.

in your life.

A lot of obsessions can lead to positive outcomes,

but some can lead to addiction and it's that that then becomes very unhealthy.

So I think it's safe to say that it can be a good thing and also a bad thing.

Healthy obsession.

It is the driving force that keeps us all on that road

and hopefully one day will have for real.
