You see, it's all about learning about the English language

and enjoying this beautiful language as well.

I am curious about today's topic.

Well, today's topic is neighbours.

We all have them.

It doesn't matter if you live in a large apartment block

or maybe you have a country mansion somewhere

nearby, there will be a neighbour.

It doesn't matter where you live, how much money you have,

somewhere nearby there will be a neighbour somewhere near.

And sometimes you know what I'm going to say?

You know where I'm coming from.

Neighbours can be rather

annoying to say the least.

Neighbours can be annoying, they can get on your nerves.

Of course there is always two sides to every argument.

Sometimes neighbours can be very useful as well.

They can help you out when you need something.

They might be there.

They might one day save your life.

It's happened as well.

There have been many situations even around here where I live, where one neighbour

has heard another neighbour

having problems or maybe they've fallen over or they've had an accident in the garden

and then that neighbour, the neighbour has come to their rescue.

So neighbours are not always annoying.

They can be nice sometimes.

So today

to set a rather negative tone to today's live stream.

Annoying things that neighbours can do

because there are many things neighbours, we all have them.

Sometimes we can avoid them and sometimes

we find it very hard not to, so that is today's main topic.

As I mentioned.

I am watching on the bus

on my way home whilst I am watching your live stream, I'm always interested

to find out where you are, where you are watching and what you are doing.

It is always interesting for me being the person presenting at this end

to find out what you are doing at that end where you are.

So it's always interesting.

You see, I always like to know what you are up to

today, by the way,

I don't want to forget this because I might get into trouble.

Today is Remembrance Sunday,

and this is where people gather and they remember those who died.

Well, normally it's for the First World War.

So the ending of the First World War.

But to be honest, these days we often use

Remembrance Day or Remembrance Sunday

as a way of remembering all those

who lost their lives during wars past

and I suppose present as well.

And I noticed the other day we were walking the other day, Mr.

Steve and myself, and we noticed that some of the students from the nearby school

here in Much Wenlock had made a lovely tribute

as a way of marking Remembrance Day.

Would you like to see it?

Okay.

The amazing thing is they are not actually flowers.

They are poppies that have been made out of recycled plastic.

It's amazing, but it is also true as well.

So I thought that was a lovely gesture

by the children of the local school here in Much Wenlock,

and they did it as a tribute, as a way

of commemorating remembrance Sunday.

Normally we have a ceremony on the 11th of November,

but also we have a special ceremony

in London and many places across the UK where people will lay wreaths

to remember those who lost their lives during the war.

And, well, I suppose over the years there have been many wars

and some of them are still going on today.

So I thought that was a lovely gesture.

Talking of lovely things outside at the moment.

Oh, my goodness.

I really have to share this with you.

We are having the most amazing thing, Autumn.

We are heading towards winter at the moment.

In fact, some people say that we have already arrived at winter.

But look at that.

That is the view outside.

And it is 16 Celsius

at the moment in mid-November.

It's crazy.

I can't believe it. How how can this be real?

So we are having some amazing weather at the moment.

Here's another view.

So that is the more familiar view from my studio window.

And you can see everything is looking lovely today.

Mr. Steve, by the way, has been outside.

He will be showing us what he's been up to as well, because he's been very busy

over the past couple of days planting his new trees in the garden,

and he's feeling rather pleased with himself,

to say the least.

This is English addict.

Every Sunday we are here, together, live.

Mr. Steve will be with us.

We also might have the sheep as well. It may be the cows.

In fact,

something very funny happened in the garden yesterday.

Mr. Steve was was busy planting his trees

and he was also putting some, some new soil on top of the ground as well.

And he had the soil in large plastic bags.

But the strange thing was, every time Steve

moved the bags, the sound that was made

by the material moving around inside the plastic,

it made the sheep go crazy

because they thought the farmer was nearby

and maybe he was about to give them some food.

So the sheep all came over to to the fence where Mr.

Steve was working. And it was hilarious. It was so funny.

So suddenly there there were about 30,

maybe 35 sheep all by the fence at the back of the house.

Sadly, I did not capture that moment on video, but it was hilarious and I'm sure Mr.

Steve will be talking more about that a little bit later on.

Yes, we are here and we are talking all about English today.

We have lots of things to talk about.

We have the subject of neighbours,

good neighbours, but neighbours.

So I don't want to make this too depressing to be honest,

but I think it's

very fair to talk about the annoying things

that neighbours sometimes do and they can be annoying.

It's true

and I think Mr.

Steve will definitely have something to say about that.

I think he will.

So last night we went out.

We will talk more about this in a moment.

But last night we went out for a meal

and we were going to see a show as well.

We actually went to the show,

but unfortunately, Natalie, the meal

did not go as planned.

There were, to say the least, some slight problems

which we will be taking a look at in a few moments from now.

And, of course, Mr.

Steve will be here as well.

I was trying to find some sheep, but I couldn't.

And fortunately, where were the sheep?

Mr. Duncan, you don't have any sheep videos

the show is today, which is a shame, really.

But there you go.

You can't have everything in this life.

We are getting some really funny messages coming up

concerning today's subject about neighbours

Claudia.

Claudia says my neighbour used to have the annoying habit

of throwing their cigarettes so they would smoke their cigarettes

and then they would throw them out of their window.

And sometimes, of course, they would land on Claudia's balcony

or even worse, go into her window.

We can't have that.

That is not very neighbourly.

That's not very nice behaviour.

And then Claudia says, But they don't do it anymore because they are

dead.

Well, I suppose that's one way of stopping it

all. All I'm worried about now

is that maybe Claudia is the person who is responsible for it.

You didn't push him out of his window, did you?

Because I'm getting a bit worried now.

I'm getting concerned.

So if you see any blue flashing lights outside your window, Claudia,

all I can say is run.

where it's so warm, it must be 16 degrees out there today.

It doesn't feel like winter is approaching.

It's bizarre. Well, last night we went out.

what happened

last night.

Last night to say that last night was a disaster, an adventure.

Well, I choose the word disaster.

Adventure?

We decided to go and see a show last night.

First of all, I thought I was going to see Aladdin

because that is what is

on at the theatre in Wolverhampton.

Unfortunately it wasn't.

It was Peter Pan instead.

I knew it was Peter Pan. I didn't, I didn't.

I did not know.

Of course she did. Yes, of course she did.

He's joking. I'm not joking.

I didn't know what you as I asked you yesterday afternoon, what is it we're going to see?

Because I couldn't remember.

And you said Peter Pan and I thought I was going to see Aladdin.

You see Aladdin professional.

Peter Pan amateur.

Well, you knew we were going to see an amateur show, Mr. Duncan.

I bought the ticket, so you shouldn't complain.

I bought the ticket for you.

That's crazy.

For just expensive, but just. Amateur.

I that's that's like the same price that you'd pay to go and see cats.

When it was on at a professional theatre.

So you have, there's a lot of costs involved.

I mean, you know, they were using wires to fly in Peter Pan.

Yeah. And the children.

So that's expense.

So I the only thing I found amusing because a lot of a lot of it was, was on wire.

So, so people were on wires, but I was waiting for one of them,

hopefully of the kids to actually first just fall

from the wire and go splat on the stage.

I think that would have been interesting.

That would have made everything a little bit more interesting.

However, I'm jumping ahead.

I'm because before then

we were going for an Indian meal.

As you know, we all love food Mr.

Steve loves food.

I like food.

We like Indian food with our friend Martin.

Who said he's going to be on today.

I haven't seen him yet.

We might well see him. Yes, but.

Yes. So I just to set the scene I booked this week

ago, 6:00 show starts at 730.

We bought a carrier for six plenty of time.

What could possibly go wrong?

Well, the first thing that went wrong

was that Steve forgot or didn't realise everything. You.

That there was a football match taking place in Wolverhampton.

Wolves were playing at home.

They were playing Arsenal.

And of course you book these shows a long time in advance, weeks in advance,

and we could only go Saturday, Saturday night because that was the only night

that our friend Martin could actually go.

So we could only go Saturday night.

Then we found out there was a match on my immediate

thought was the traffic will be a nightmare,

but the traffic was the least of our.

Worries because we, we arrived in Wolverhampton and it was crowded full of people,

not necessarily people who were

sober.

Let's just say a lot of people when they go to see a football match

because it was an evening match, so the match hadn't even started.

When we arrived in town, but

a lot of people were already drunk in the streets.

So we went to the lovely Indian restaurant.

We went in there and then realised quite quickly that it was going to be very busy in there.

Yes, we had booked, don't forget.

Well yes we had booked, but there were

thousands of people wandering the streets of Wolverhampton

looking for a place to eat and some of them came in to where we were sitting.

Oh, the most drunkest, loudest

football British fans you could imagine

descending upon this lovely Indian restaurant

that we had planned to have a lovely relaxing meal with before the show.

Let's just say,

well, well, it didn't go very well.

When you really say let's just say that there has to be something afterwards.

I was hoping you'd say something.

Well, it was a bit of a disaster, first of all, that we sat down at the table eventually,

then realised to our horror, that there was no food actually being served.

You could give your order,

but there was no, no, no food being served for one hour an hour.

They told us an. Hour, which was no good.

So we found out after spending three quarters of an hour in there that the food wouldn't

come for another hour, which would have meant we'd have missed the start of the show.

And to make things worse, I've got to move on.

Steve Yes, that's fine.

To make things worse. But

they, they brought over a trolley

with no food on the trolley.

And I don't know why they it, but we have a photograph to prove it as well.

There it is. There.

I am wondering why there is no food.

They brought the trolley, but they didn't bring any food. Why?

Everyone was very distressed, but they basically let too many people in

and they hadn't got enough staff to serve everybody.

So walked out and basically.

Sat behind me, but I thought that was so funny.

They brought the trolley over and normally that should have lots of food on it.

And lots of drunk football fans all abusing the staff.

It was disgraceful actually.

Disgraceful behaviour.

Who would have thought football fans would be so horrible?

Who would have thought it? It was disgusting.

The language, foul mouthed.

Disgusting. Yes.

And they were trying to demand tables and things like that.

And anyway, we left and we had to eat. We have got to.

We've got to stay.

There's a story.

I've got something else to show.

Steady, show. Away.

Do not do not do not spill the beans too quickly.

Well, we want to pull people with our story.

I want to keep the viewers here by teasing them.

Well, we went out last night with Martin and Mr.

Steve and myself.

We couldn't have a curry.

So instead we went to the local corner shop

where we got

a sandwich.

We had a sandwich eat each.

Now, if your mother was here now,

she would ask if Martin is married.

She always asked that about any of our friends.

If we have a male friend that we're seeing or going out with, she would always ask,

No, I'm not going to that.

Because that was your mum's way of asking.

Anyway is it. Yeah, right.

Yeah. So here it is.

Here's the photograph of us standing on the street

in Wolverhampton on a busy Saturday night

with thousands of drunk football fans all around us.

And here's the photograph right now, I think.

I think that's brilliant.

There we are eating on the streets.

We were, we were.

And people were avoiding as they were scared of us because we were eating on the streets,

because if you eat on the streets, people think you're a bit scary.

So there we go.

Isn't that brilliant?

Yes. So there we were last night and the young the young, handsome guy with the glasses.

That's me.

And then there's Steve in the middle.

And then on the end, on the left, it's Martin.

And we were all eating sandwiches.

We had to have sandwiches.

We couldn't have our curry.

And you can't see the rest of the scene

because there were hundreds and hundreds of drunk people all around us.

So that's what happened last night.

It didn't go very well.

It went even worse for Martin later because his car broke down on the way home.

So we were stuck until gone midnight with a broken down car, having spent

probably an hour trying to get off the car park because of all the football fans,

we just you know, let's just say it was a bit

different from our usual lives around this area.

Somebody asked Wolverhampton is about 25 miles from here.

20, 25 miles. Yeah. Probably about

30 kilometres.

35 kilometres or something.

So it takes about 40 minutes if you travel from here, travel from here

to Wolverhampton, it's about 40 minutes.

That's where we used to live.

Yes, well I lived there for 30 years.

I live there anymore because basically not to put too fine

a point on it, it's not the nicest place in the world to.

Live last night.

But anyway, congratulations to Bilson Operatic,

who put on quite a fantastic show.

I mean, it's not necessarily a show that we would like normally go to see Peter Pan,

but we were supporting them and I thought they made a fabulous effort full of kids.

They always do.

Kids certain contractually.

I don't know why we went to see this, because to.

Support. Them, we could have just bought the tickets and not gone.

But we'd have we'd have had a less exciting night and just.

Trying to make a point, though, it's the kids with three grown

adult men with surrounded by screaming children as well.

Well, that's what you do.

What happens in amateur theatre just. Didn't seem right.

What happens in amateur theatre is that people are all members

of different societies and you all go to see each other's shows.

You sell tickets to friends in other societies and they then they come to see you.

And that's how it all works.

That's how it all works. Well, you can.

You can buy the tickets and just not go. Yeah, but.

Because you are still supporting them.

But yeah, I must admit when pressed.

25 quid.

Each anyway.

Yes it's going up and up and up Mr. Duncan.

Yeah. Like Peter Pan. Was he right? Yes.

Well, yeah, yes.

But I thought, I thought we were going to see Aladdin you see.

So there it was.

That was all.

That was a wonderful adventure last night

in the metropolis of Wolverhampton

and to me it was fun to make things worse.

Wolves, Wolverhampton, Wanderers lost.

They did.

They were, as they say, thrashed two nil, I believe.

Well, fortunately we weren't.

If you were thrashed, if a football team thrashes another team

or it just means that they beat them

quite substantially.

Yes. And very obviously, it was you know,

they they really do beat them. Yes.

So I'm surprised there wasn't substantial violence.

And when we came out. It may have been we may have missed. It.

When we came out, they were all coming out of the football match, but luckily we got home alright.

So anyway, that's our boring story. And it's not boring.

Why not? Well, it was exciting.

Different stories. Well, I wouldn't.

I wouldn't even call it exciting.

I just thought walking through the streets was surrounded

by thousands of people who were not

were not high up on the scale

of being nice and social.

That's all I'm saying.

I can't wait until the World Cup starts.

Can I just say if you're watching in Qatar at the moment,

you you have no idea what you have.

Let yourself in for British English

call on what you want football fans

if you you have absolutely no idea.

What the thing is they won't they'll find it difficult to get hold of alcohol.

But the thing is, they will because there are bars that will be open, especially for the fans.

Maybe they won't be able to consume such a large quantities as they do.

They might ration the beer they might only give so much beer to each fan.

Sometimes I must admit, we don't eat pork that often, you know, for no reason.

It's just that we don't eat it very often.

It's delicious.

It lives in Birmingham.

In fact, I'm going to go and see him to get that.

He said, Next time I cook, the next time I go to visit, and he will specifically cook this meal for me.

You have to have to empty these packets.

I wanted to mix grit with the soil so that it's good for drainage.

Every time I shook this packet grit, the sheep

were getting very excited.

They all came over and.

Herded over towards the fence because they thought

they sometimes go out and shake packets of feed onto the ground.

It, especially this time of year because there is very little grass left.

So the farmers now coming regularly to bring them food.

I would say that

at some

point in your life you're going to live near a neighbour

that plays loud music or has lots of parties or parties you can excuse.

You got part, have you got that as a specific thing.

Well play loud music is sort of in there.

So people have parties, obviously, people have birthdays,

people get married, they want to celebrate certain things.

Saturday, apologise in advance.

There's going to be some loud music, but you know, we'll make sure that by midnight it's finished.

So that's showing respect.

You and you understand people want to have a party.

People want to do things now to be a killjoy and stop people having fun.

Just if they people come to you and just, you know, tell you what they're going to do,

that you know, that, you know, bother them because you can make other plans.

You can say, well, the neighbours are have or they might even invite you to the.

Party and say that well that's, that's the way of making everything go right,

that's the way you say we're having a party tomorrow night.

There'll be lots of wine and beer and food.

You can come in, pop in if you like, and then it makes it nicer.

But even if they don't want you there, at least they've told you

and you can make other plans if you don't want to be involved by having that party.

they'll just have to put up with it.

There are some neighbours who just enjoy being a pain in the arse.

Let's face it, there are some neighbours who just enjoy it.

They just like annoying people.

We have sheep and cattle in the back of our house

and there are still people, the occasional idiot

that walks with their dog and they don't even have it on a leash.

Particularly walking through a farmer's field.

Somebody else is field that they are allowed to walk through.

and the leaves are falling off the deciduous trees.

And then what should you do with leaves?

Well, really, you should compost them.

Coming up, pulling the leaves and but around here,

a lot of people like to burn the leaves, which creates vast plumes of smoke.

Because the leaves normally a damp and damp.

why you would decide to burn leaves?

It's not as if they're radioactive it's not as if they will kill all of your garden.

but break them up just like I did that last year

because we get a lot of leaves blowing over from the neighbour's tree.

And then after six months or so, they vanished into the soil.

The worms have done their business.

And yet there seem to be

some people around here

and maybe where you live who, who take all of the leaves.

And for some reason, they decide to to have long,

slow bonfires.

But then if you're outside, use it.

You're having to breathe in all that smoke.

It's all the time.

The last three or four days people have been doing it.

I never actually got to my chest a bit this morning.

I could feel it.

The smoke on my chest, which is not very good, particularly

if you've got asthma and things like that, there's no need to burn it anyway because we have that.

We the the refuse collectors, we have a green bin

you can put all your garden waste into and they'll come and collect it for you.

But leaves are brilliant.

They just just make make a little pile of leaves and leave them.

And then suddenly you've got lovely,

lovely mulch or compost.

they have to tell you they have to, if they've been on holiday

to a far off place, they will have to bring it up in conversation.

or try to have a life there because everything is so expensive.

I think if you if you're young and you want an exciting life,

you know, you ought to be able to go out to theatres, pubs,

clubs, bars, have a great social life.

And, you know, London would be great. Would be fantastic.

But I think people tend to, you know,

it's a very fast paced way of life

and lots of pollution, lots of people.

And then maybe you can I mean, we wouldn't do it at our age,

but maybe when I was in my twenties or thirties, I could have done it,

but I wouldn't do it now because people tend to move out of cities quite often when they get older

because they want to get away from that unless it's Paris, of course,

which is beautiful and doesn't have lots of high rise block flats in the centre.

I have to be honest, I wouldn't compare Paris to London.

It's weird, isn't it?

Having seen both cities, because Paris has been built

with with lots of space,

even the streets and the boulevards and the areas where you can walk around.

There is lots of space.

Where is London?

Everything is cramped.

Well, they've let all the skyscrapers can be built.

Can't they write anywhere in London?

But they can't build big, tall skyscrapers. That's it.

I'm on about the streets as well, because London

basically is how it was when it was first created.
