A kind request,

a polite ask, can you please help me out with this difficult task?

If you want something done, if you need a kind hand, then a request will be made.

I hope you don't mind.

It's nice to be polite.

We use politeness in many situations.

It is a nice way to behave.

And many people like it when someone is polite to them,

to be polite is to show respect towards another person.

We might show politeness when we want something.

A thing we would like another person to do

often means that a request will be made.

You ask for something.

We will normally ask for something by using 'please'.

It is a kind request, you are asking for something to be given to you,

or perhaps you are in need of some help or assistance.

In those situations, you will often say, 'Please',

Please, can I have the time?

Please, can you tell me where the library is?

Can you please show me the way to the police station?

Please, can you help me with my homework?

Can I please leave the room?

Can you please give me your home address?

You will notice the uses of can

and please in those examples.

It is not always necessary to use the word can,

as please is the word that is stressing the request.

This type of request is normally being made

urgently or as an instruction.

The thing is needed.

The thing must be done.

Please pass me the salt.

Please close the door.

Please sit down.

Please don't leave me.

Please don't run in the hallway.

Please turn off the lights before you leave.

You might describe

please as a request or a plea.

The formal way to ask for something or issue an instruction in a polite way

might involve using the word 'please'.

It is also possible to use 'could' when making a request.

Could you please be quiet?

Could you please stop talking?

Could you please send me an email to remind me?

Could we talk about this later, please?

The word 'please' is related to pleasure and plea.

The general feeling of happiness or making someone feel happy.

A person feels pleased.

To please someone is to make a person happy.

A request made politely might use 'please'.

A polite reply to a kind action can be given in many ways.

It is common to say thank you to someone for their kindness.

Thank you is often used in response to something.

The act of showing gratitude will likely involve saying thank you.

A spoken or written gesture of gratitude is a thank you.

You might send someone a thank you letter.

You might give someone a thank you gift.

These actions show that the things being done

or the thing that was done or given is appreciated.

We often say

thank you to someone after they have done something kind.

Thank you for the lovely gift.

Thank you for all your support during my illness.

Thank you for seeing me during your lunch break.

I want to say thank you to all those who made a donation.

Thank you for being my friend.

There are many ways to say thank you.
