And I only boil as much water as I need

And, something I learnt recently,

What do you do for the environment, personally?

Well, recycling-wise and  all that lot is it, really.

And it's a sort of, charity organisation that,

So they take... oh, I don't know odds  and ends like, you know, biro pens,

foil... - Oh right. - Food  pouches, baby food pouches,

pet food pouches. Just... a whole  range of things they're taking.

You know, there's a list of a couple  of dozen things that they take.

And, so we... we sort of,  keep our stuff in the garage

and then once a month, we hop down there

and take all our bits and  pieces down. - Oh nice, okay.

So that's... that's... I've found that quite good,

because this means there's a lot less things

Right, well I've been  supporting the ''Green Party''

for a long time and trying to do things

that are environmentally sound.

So like, I don't drive, I use  public transport, compost stuff.

In my old house, I had an air source heat pump,

for eleven months because we  then moved, which was a shame.

But that was brilliant. -  What... what did you have, sorry?

So that was... that was quite an  undertaking, but it was brilliant.

And I can highly recommend them,

And then we moved to Saltdean and we've just,

two weeks ago, got solar  panels, which is fascinating,

And what about Africa? What about India?

And what about all these other places

that have huge amounts of resource needs?

And they look at us and go;

''well we want to have a slice of that''. - Yeah.

I just think it's a drop in the ocean, what...

I mean, that's very defeatist, I  do accept that, my point of view.

But, I mean, I like to recycle stuff,

but I mean, (it) probably  gets burnt in in Newhaven,

in the... in the... in the power station, there.

So, it's like, oh I'm... I  can go; oh, I'm recycling,

but it's getting burnt.

And how long have you been flexitarian?

Maybe a year.

And you do this for environmental purposes?

Yeah, yeah. For health, environmental, you know.

My friend's a... a full on vegan,

so he's kind of imparting on me, a little bit.

We try to use environmentally friendly products,

for sort of, cleaning. And stuff like that.

I've... I got oh.... I dunno, a few years ago now,

I got into using a sort of,  vinegar and lemon mixture

for doing a lot of cleaning around the house.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of that. - Yeah, erm...

We try to buy things that have  got less plastic packaging.

Those sorts of things.

And the lemon and vinegar thing;  is like, an alternative to bleach?

Is that what you'd say, or?

It's a general cleaner.

It's... I mean it's great on glass  and mirrors and things like that.

Tiles, those sort of things,

but it's also a natural  disinfectant and antibacterial.

So it's... it's good for like,  cleaning your bathroom basins,

And, my question is; is it affordable,  to be environmentally friendly?

It's very expensive.

I got a grant towards the heat pump. - Oh right.

But that was... that was the green homes grant

that the government really screwed up on.

But, until more people use them,  the price isn't going to come down.

So you need more people to start using them
