Learn the English Phrases WITH A FINE-TOOTH COMB and IN DROVES

In this English lesson,

I wanted to help you learn the English phrase

도와드리고 싶었습니다

with a fine-tooth comb.

When we say that we do something with a fine-tooth comb,

우리가 가는 빗으로 무언가를 한다고 하거나 ,

or when we go over something with a fine-tooth comb,

가는 빗으로 무언가를 훑어본다는 것은

it means we look at it very carefully.

우리가 그것을 매우 주의 깊게 본다는 것을 의미합니다.

I'm not sure what this hand motion means.

이 손 동작이 무엇을 의미하는지 잘 모르겠습니다.

A good example would be this though.

그래도 좋은 예가 될 것입니다.

When the police arrive at a crime scene,

they go over it with a fine-tooth comb.

This means that they go over it very carefully.

They look at every single piece of evidence

When you say that something happens in droves,

it means it happens with great quantity.

We use this a lot to talk about people.

When there's a sale at a store, people arrive in droves.

That means lots of people arrive at the same time.

A lot of times when there are concert tickets,

people will line up in droves to get the tickets.

They'll be so excited to get the tickets,

I don't often look at the history of the phrases I teach,
