Meaning of DON'T BOTHER - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So in English we have the phrase, "don't bother", which means don't go out of your way to do

something.

The other day Jen called me from the grocery store and said, "I'm gonna pick up some milk,

and some eggs, and some bread.", and I said, "Don't bother because your dad actually stopped

in and he gave us some eggs.

Jen's dad has chickens by the way.

So when you say to someone "don't bother" it means, you know, don't do the thing that

you said you were going to do.

Don't, don't bother doing it.

Sorry I just used the phrase to define the phrase, but, essentially it means there's

no need to do it anymore so don't bother doing it.

Oftentimes we use the word bother to talk about bugging someone or being kind of mean

to someone, but in this sense, when we say, "don't bother" it means that you don't need

to do the thing you were going to do.

So, I mentioned I was home a bit late tonight.

I almost didn't bother making a video, but then I thought, that would have been my very

first video that I missed.

Actually I think I missed one way back in June because I was up late and before I knew

it, it was past midnight, so I almost didn't bother making a video but then I thought,

you know what, it's only quarter to eight, you can see the clock over there, you can

see some of my mess on my desk, it's only quarter to eight, I should just make a quick

one, so, here you go!
