Meaning of FEELING BLAH - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So I almost didn't make a little English lesson

for all of you today, because I'm feeling blah.

In English, when we say that we are feeling blah,

it means that we don't have a lot of energy

or we don't feel like doing something.

I'm feeling blah today

because I didn't really sleep that good last night.

I was tossing and turning all night.

I did not get a good night's sleep,

and I had a long day at work.

So I don't have a lot of energy,

and if I was to describe how I'm feeling right now,

I would say that I am feeling blah.

(chuckles) It's not a sickness when you feel blah.

It doesn't mean that you are sick,

but it simply means that you are not feeling very well,

and you don't feel like doing anything.

In fact, if I could do anything I wanted to right now,

I would probably go home and just watch some YouTube videos

and maybe have a little nap on the couch

because I am feeling blah.

We have another phrase that's very, very close to this,

which is to have a case of the blahs.

So we talk about having the blahs as if it is a sickness,

even though it isn't a real sickness.

So you could say to someone,

oh, I just have a case of the blahs today.

Want me to say that word again?

Blahs.

I have a case of the blahs today.

So when you have a case of the blahs,

again, you just feel like sitting around and doing nothing,

maybe eating too many snacks

and maybe just watching a lot of television

or a lot of YouTube.

and I hope you don't have a case of the blahs.

I hope you are just full of energy and enjoying your day.
