Meaning of COOPED UP and FRESH AIR - A Short English Lesson with Subtitles

- So I have done this phrase before, cooped up,

but I thought it'd be a good phrase to do again.

So this is a bit of a review lesson for all of you.

When you say in English that you are feeling cooped up,

it means that you have been inside too much,

and I imagine there's a lot

of people feeling pretty cooped up right now.

So hopefully, you have a balcony.

Hopefully, you can still find your way

to get out in nature.

If you are feeling cooped up,

if you are feeling stuck inside,

it is my hope that somehow you can get a little bit

of sunshine, that you can get outside,

and you can just experience a little bit of nature.

So again in English if you say

that you are feeling cooped up,

it means that you have been inside too much.

We say that you might be feeling

a little bit of cabin fever.

You might be feeling a little bit claustrophobic,

because the walls seem to be closing in on you.

So if you're cooped up or if you feel cooped up,

you're feeling stuck inside.

And if that happens, this is another repeat, sorry.

I don't often repeat phrases on my channel,

but if you're feeling cooped up

and if you are allowed to go outside in your country,

you might want to go out and get some fresh air,

or you might want to simply open a window

to get a little bit of fresh air.

So when we talk about fresh air,

we talk about the air that you breathe

when you are outside.

So right now I am outside

just getting a little bit of fresh air,

a little bit of fresh spring air by the way.

So in spite of the craziness of the world,

it is cool for me, especially, in this part of Canada

where it has been cold to know that the grass

is turning a little bit green right now

and things will be warming up soon.

So hopefully, if you're feeling cooped up

and if you're allowed to,

you can go out and get some fresh air,

or maybe at the very least, you can open a window

and get a little bit of fresh air.
