Meaning of DON'T RAIN ON MY PARADE - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So a parade is an event you go to in a town where a whole bunch of people come down the

street playing music, there's vehicles that we call floats.

A parade is really a big celebration.

But the phrase, "Don't rain on my parade!" is something that you say to someone after

you share good news and they say something negative.

So for instance you might have just gotten a new job and you say to your friend, "I just

got a new job I'm so excited!"

And if your friend says, "Oh they probably won't pay you very much."

You could reply and say, "Don't rain on my parade!"

So it basically means don't say something negative when I'm sharing something that I'm

excited about.
