Meaning of IT'S AWFULLY GOOD and IT'S OUT OF THIS WORLD - A Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So in English, if we're talking about something

and we say that it's awfully good,

it sounds like we're saying it's bad,

because it looks like it has the word awful in it,

but this actually means that it's really good.

So let's say you're eating some ice cream

and it's really tasty, some chocolate ice cream,

maybe with some whipped cream on top, and it's delicious.

You could say to someone, "This ice cream is awfully good."

So again, if you say something is awfully good,

it means that it's really good.

It means that you really, really like it.

I think that when I watch different YouTube videos,

I think to myself some YouTubers are awfully good

at what they do.

So again, this would mean that they are good at it.

It wouldn't mean that they are bad at it.

If you wanted to say someone was bad at something,

you would say they are awful at it.

Sounds kinda funny to say someone's awfully good,

to mean that they're good at it,

and awful to mean that they're not good at it,

but that's just the way English is.

Hey, we have another phrase that we use

when we wanna say that something is really, really good,

and that's it's out of this world.

So again, you could be eating some really yummy ice cream

and you could say to the people you are with,

"This ice cream is out of this world.

"It's out of this world."

So again, that would mean that the ice cream

is extremely good.

It would mean that it is really tasty,

that it is delicious, and that you are really enjoying it.

So again, if you say something is awfully good,

or if you say something is out of this world,

both English phrases mean that that thing

is really, really good.
