Meaning of TALK YOUR EAR OFF - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So sometimes I can be very talkative.

I can talk quite a bit.

Normally I'm a pretty quiet person, but sometimes I can be very talkative and if I met you I

might talk your ear off.

When someone talks your ear off your ear doesn't actually fall off your head.

It is simply a figure of speech.

But if I was in a talkative mood and I met you there is a good chance I might talk your

ear off.

I love to talk about teaching.

I love to talk about farming.

I love to talk about new ideas that I have.

I love to talk about my Youtube channel.

I love to talk about my kids.

And I love to talk about my job and the things I do as a teacher.

So if you ever meet me in an airport or on a bus there is a very good chance that I might

just talk your ear off.

So a few years ago I was on an airplane.

I was flying out west.

I was flying to the province of B.C. to visit a brother-in-law and sister-in-law and I sat

beside a guy and he talked my ear off for the entire flight.

I wanted to sleep a little bit and I wanted to read a little bit and I wasn't feeling

talkative and this guy, he talked my ear off.

I think for the entire 5 hour flight I think he talked almost 5 hours.

It was, it was a lot of talking.
