Meaning of HATS OFF TO YOU - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles #shorts

So in English we have a saying, "hats off to you" and we say this when you've done something

that we really respect or you've accomplished something and we're really impressed with

you.

So let's think of a good example, maybe you have been studying English really, really

hard this week.

And maybe you have just taken an English test and you passed it.

I would say, "Hats off to you!'

Now, you don't actually need a hat to use this saying and you don't actually have to

take a hat off if you say, "Hats off to you!", to someone.

But this is a very common English saying.

If someone was to say, "My football team just won the town championship!"

You would say, "Hats off to you!"

Again you don't actually need a hat but, "Hats off to you for winning the championship!"
