Meaning of GOOF UP and SLIP UP - A Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So in English, when you goof up

it means that you make a mistake.

I goof up a lot when I'm making these videos.

Sometimes I come outside and I come outside

and I just can't get the words right.

I goof up a lot while I'm trying to teach

this little one minute English lesson.

Sometimes I forget to press the record button

so I say my whole lesson, I teach my whole lesson

and then I realize that I have goofed up.

I realize that I goofed up because I forgot

to press the button that starts recording the video.

So in English, when you goof up,

it means that you make a mistake.

I also sometimes goof up at work.

Sometimes when I'm handing students work back to them

I will accidentally give the paper to the wrong student.

It doesn't happen very often

but every once in awhile I goof up

when I am handing work back to students.

So again, in English, if you goof up

it means that you are making a mistake.

We have another word or phrase that means the same thing

and that's slip up.

Sometimes when I'm speaking English,

believe it or not, I slip up.

That means that I make a mistake,

even though I am a native English speaker

there are times when I am speaking English

that I make mistakes, believe it or not.

In fact, the other day I was trying to pronounce a word

and it came out all wrong.

I slipped up while I was trying to say that word.

So again, two ways to say

that you are making a mistake in English.

You can say that I goof up and you say that I slip up

sometimes when I am making these videos.
