Meaning of COOPED UP and CABIN FEVER - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So in English, in the winter,

because we have to spend so much time inside,

we sometimes feel cooped up.

When we say that we are feeling cooped up in English,

it means that we're spending too much time inside,

and we just wanna be outside where there's a lot more room.

It's way too cold to be outside,

but I didn't wanna go in the house yet,

because I thought I might feel cooped up.

We also have this huge word, claustrophobic.

When you are feeling claustrophobic,

it means that you are in a space

that feels really, really small.

Some people have claustrophobia.

That would be a fear of really small spaces.

So, in the winter, sometimes we feel a little bit cooped up

because we spend too much time inside,

and a little bit claustrophobic.

Sometimes we get cabin fever.

Cabin fever is a unique experience

in countries where we have winter

where, when we spend too much time inside,

eventually we start to go a little bit crazy.

Even though my house is a fairly nice size,

sometime in the middle of February

and maybe in January already,

I'll feel a little bit of cabin fever.

I will be anxious for spring and eager to be outside.
