Meaning of HANG IN THERE - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So sometimes you want to quit doing whatever you're doing.

Maybe you want to quit learning English because you feel like it's too hard and in English

we would say, "You need to hang in there!"

When you tell someone that they need to hang in there it means that they need to NOT quit.

It means you need to keep doing it.

It means that maybe someone who has done that thing before knows that it gets better over

time.

So I would say for all of you if you find learning English really hard I think you should

hang in there.

I think you should find a way to learn a bit more English every day.

Find a way to make it a little more enjoyable.

Find a way to make it exciting again, but for sure you should hang in there because

the reward at the end for learning English is great.

It would be so cool if all of you could become bilingual.

Hey there's another phrase, "stick it out", which means the same thing.

You might think stick it out means like to stick your tongue out, or something like that,

but when we say to someone, "Hey!

Stick it out", it means the same as hang in there.

Both phrases mean the same thing.

So if you think that you should quit learning English I think you should stick it out because

if you can get to the level of fluency that will allow you to speak English to native

speakers I think you will be happy that you stuck it out and you will very happy that

you hung in there.

So stick with it people, you can do it.
