HUMID | Learn English Vocabulary Meaning, Grammar, and Usage in Example English Sentences

And in this video, I'm going to teach you a very important English word.

และในวิดีโอนี้ ฉันจะสอนคำศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษที่สำคัญมากให้คุณฟัง

Now, everybody in Korea should know this word because it gets this way every summer in Korea,

ตอนนี้ ทุกคนในเกาหลีควรรู้จักคำนี้เพราะมันเป็นแบบนี้ทุกฤดูร้อนในเกาหลี

right?

ใช่ไหม?

Well not just in the summer, but also in some other seasons.

ไม่ใช่แค่ในฤดูร้อนเท่านั้น แต่ยังรวมถึงฤดูกาลอื่นๆ ด้วย

And that word that we're going to learn today is ‘humid’.

และคำที่เราจะเรียนรู้วันนี้คือคำว่า 'ชื้น'

Again, ‘humid’.

'ชื้น' อีกครั้ง

So this word, you need to know it,

ดังนั้นคำนี้ คุณต้องรู้

and you especially need to mention this word

และโดยเฉพาะคุณต้องพูดถึงคำนี้

when you describe Korea's weather to any foreigners, Okay.

So if they ask “What's the weather like in Korea?”

you have to say “humid”.

Well, what does ‘humid’ mean?

Well again, ‘humid’ is used to describe weather.

ขอย้ำอีกครั้งว่า 'ชื้น' ถูกใช้เพื่ออธิบายสภาพอากาศ

It means that it's very wet and hot, right?

แปลว่าเปียกและร้อนมากใช่ไหม?

You know what I mean.

คุณรู้ว่าฉันหมายถึงอะไร.

So even my best friend, she comes to Korea every year from Southern California,

แม้แต่เพื่อนสนิทของฉัน เธอมาเกาหลีทุกปีจากแคลิฟอร์เนียตอนใต้

which is where I'm from,

and she complains about this all the time.

“It's so humid," right?

“มันชื้นมาก” ใช่ไหม

“It's so hot and wet.”

And she complains about this because where we're from,

แล้วเธอก็บ่นเรื่องนี้เพราะว่าเรามาจากไหน

it's not like that. It's hot, but it doesn't get very humid.

มันไม่เป็นอย่างนั้น ร้อน แต่ก็ไม่ชื้นมาก มา

So let's look at the board for some examples on how to use the word.

Okay.

So here it is.

ล่ะ คือ

“Today is very humid.”

“วันนี้อากาศชื้นมาก”

“Today is very humid.”

“วันนี้อากาศชื้นมาก”

So that's the word I want to teach you today. ‘humid’

นั่นคือคำที่ฉันอยากจะสอนคุณในวันนี้ 'ชื้น'

But there are some other ways to say the same thing.

แต่ก็มีวิธีอื่นที่จะพูดสิ่งเดียวกัน

Instead of ‘humid’,

แทนที่จะเป็น 'ชื้น'

we can say a couple of other words.

เรากลับพูดอีกสองสามคำได้

For example, we can say, “Today is very muggy.”

เช่น เราสามารถพูดว่า “วันนี้ มันชื้นมาก”

“Today is very muggy.”

“วันนี้มึนมาก”

Okay, ‘muggy’ means humid.

โอเค 'muggy' แปลว่าชื้น

Again, hot and wet.

อีกครั้ง ร้อนและเปียก

We can also say, “Today is very sticky.”

เราอาจพูดว่า “วันนี้เหนียวมาก”

“Today is very sticky.”

“วันนี้เหนียวมาก”

So ‘humid’, ‘muggy’, and ‘sticky’ all have the same meaning when you're describing

ดังนั้น 'ชื้น' 'ชื้น' และ 'เหนียว' ล้วนมีความหมายเหมือนกันเมื่อคุณอธิบาย

the weather.

Now, I told you that where I'm from it's not humid, it's hot, but it's not humid,

so what's the opposite of humid?

That word is ‘dry’.

So if it's not humid, I can say, “Today is very dry.”

“Today is very dry.”

Okay, well, let's look at some more example sentences together.

“California is dry, but Florida is humid.”

Okay, so in this video we learned the word ‘humid’.

It's a very important word in Korea because it describes Korea's weather and summer perfectly.

Now, as for me, I've been here for a couple of years, and I'm still trying to get used to it,

but I have to say I like dry weather better.
