Today, we're going to be talking about contractions using the auxiliary verbs ‘would’ and ‘had’.

Ngayon, pag-uusapan natin ang tungkol sa mga contraction

gamit ang auxiliary verbs na 'would' at 'had'.

Now these can be a little bit confusing because they have similar contracted forms,

Ngayon ang mga ito ay maaaring medyo nakakalito

so make sure you pay close attention in order to memorize these

Alright, let's take a look at the list of common contractions using ‘would’ and ‘had’.

Now this can be pretty confusing because ‘would’ and ‘had’ both have the same contracted form

Ngayon ay medyo nakakalito ito

but we're going to do it together.

We're going to look at ‘would’ first and then look at ‘had’.

First one, ‘I would’ = I’d.

‘I’d like to help you make dinner.’

‘he would’ = ‘he’d’

'he would' = 'he'd'

'Siya ay isang magandang pagpipilian para sa presidente.'

‘she would’ = ‘she'd’

'she would' = 'she'd'

‘She'd be very happy if you helped her.’

'She'd very happy kung tinulungan mo siya.'

‘She'd be very happy if you helped her.’

'Masayang-masaya siya kung tinulungan mo siya.'

‘it would’ = ‘it'd’

'it would' = 'it'd'

‘It’d be nice if you visited us.’

‘you would’ = ‘you'd’

'you would' = 'you'd'

‘You'd love being on vacation in Hawaii.’

‘we would’ = ‘we’d’

'we would' = 'we'd'

‘We'd have to check the price first.’

Okay, last one for ‘would’.

Okay, ang huli para sa 'would'.

‘they would’ = ‘they’d’

'they would' = 'they'd'

‘They'd never hurt you.’

'Hindi ka nila sasaktan.'

'Hindi ka nila kailanman sasaktan.'

Okay let's move on to ‘had’.

Okay let's move on to 'nagkaroon'.

First one, ‘I had’ = ‘I’d’.

Una,

'I had' = 'I'd'.

‘I’d better make breakfast soon.’

'Mas mabuting maghanda na ako ng almusal.'

‘he had’ = ‘he’d’

'he had' = 'he'd'

‘she had’ = ‘she'd’

‘it had’ = ‘it’d’

‘you had’ = ‘you'd’

'you had' = 'you'd'

‘You'd better fasten your seat belt.’

'Mas mabuting ikabit mo ang iyong seat belt.'

‘You'd better fasten your seat belt.’

'Mas mabuting ikabit mo ang iyong seat belt.'

‘we had’ = ‘we’d’

'we had' = 'we'd'

‘We'd not eaten since breakfast.’

'Hindi kami kumakain simula ng almusal.'

‘they had’ = ‘they’d’

'they had' = 'they'd'

‘They'd gone home before the party finished.’

“They'd pay her if she did her work properly.”

"Babayaran nila siya kung ginawa niya ang kanyang trabaho nang maayos."

Is it had or would?

Mayroon ba ito o gagawin?

This one is ‘would’.

Ang isang ito ay 'gusto'.

Example three.

Halimbawa tatlo.

“Before last night I’d not seen my girlfriend in a week.”

"Bago kagabi hindi ko nakita ang aking kasintahan sa isang linggo."

‘had’ or ‘would’?

'may' o 'gusto'?

It's ‘had’.

Ito ay 'may'.

Example four.

Halimbawa apat.

“We'd love to take a vacation this summer.”

“Gusto naming magbakasyon ngayong summer.”

‘had’ or ‘would’?

'may' o 'gusto'?

This one is ‘would’.

Ang isang ito ay 'gusto'.

Example five.

Halimbawa lima.

“She'd done the wash before her husband came home.”

"Naghugas siya bago umuwi ang kanyang asawa."

Do you think ‘had’ or ‘would’?

Sa tingin mo ba 'may' o 'would'?

It's ‘had’.

Ito ay 'may'.

Alright, now you know that ‘had’ and ‘would’ use the same contraction.

Okay, ngayon alam mo na na 'may' at 'would' use the same contraction.

And it's tricky but I know if you guys practice

At ito ay nakakalito ngunit alam ko kung kayo ay nagsasanay

and keep on practicing, you're gonna master it before you know it.

at patuloy na nagsasanay, malalaman ninyo ito bago ninyo ito malaman.
