And in this video, I'm gonna talk to you  about the ‘Silent B’ letter in English.

Now, there are many words containing the letter B

الآن ، هناك العديد من الكلمات التي تحتوي على الحرف B

And sometimes, for some reason, this B is silent.

Now, let's take a few examples.

First, we have the word ‘climb’.

Now there's a ‘b’.

You can see it when you spell the word,

But can you hear it?

Another example,

would be the word ‘bomb’.

I know you're thinking of the spelling.

There's a ‘B’ at the end of this word.

But again, it's a silent B.

In fact, most of the time in English, when a short word ends with the letters ‘mb',

Now another example,

Because they know the spelling of the word

But it's a silent B, guys.

It's not pronounced, so you actually say ‘Det’.

Now for longer words, again, the letter ‘B’

is sometimes silent, not always.

For example, if I say the word ‘plumber’,

It's not pronounced ‘plum-ber'. It's spelled with a ‘B’, but the ‘B’ is silent.

But, if I say the word ‘crumble’,

So it's not always silent.

Another example would be the word ‘subtle’.

Now ‘subtle’ is spelled with a ‘B’, but the ‘B’ is silent.

Unlike the word ‘subtext‘, ‘subtext’ is spelled with a ‘B’,

Now as you probably know, there are words in the English language like,

They are spelled with ‘sc’ and  in most cases the ‘C’ is silent.

So you don't say ‘skent’, but ‘scent’.

You don't say ‘musKle’, you say ‘muscle’.

There are so many words in English that are actually spelled with a ‘d’

that you don’t pronounce.

It’s a silent ‘d’.

For example, if I say the word, ‘judge’, the ‘d’ is silent.

It’s spelled with a ‘d’, but I don’t actually pronounce it.

And these words are very common. I have two examples for you.

First, a very common word, ‘sign’. Can you hear a G sound?

I can't. because the G is silent so you shouldn't pronounce

A silent ‘h’ can be found after another consonant.

For example, we have the word ‘ache’, containing ‘ch’

very common combination.

And the sound is a hard ‘k’ so that the ‘h’ is actually silent.
