I was reading an article recently when  I came across the phrase ‘pottering around,’

and I was like, whoa, I'm 44  years old, and I have never heard this

phrase before. I've heard ‘hovering around’.  So I thought, is this a typo? No, it's not.

フレーズを聞いたのは初めてだ、と思いました。 「ホバリング」って聞いたことあります。 そこで私は、これはタイプミスではないかと思いました。 いいえ、ちがいます。

‘Pottering around’ means the exact same thing  as ‘puttering around’. They both mean moving  

「ポタリング」は 「パタリング」とまったく同じ意味です。 どちらも、

around without hurrying, in a relaxed and  pleasant way, doing things here and there.

急がずにリラックスして 快適に動き回り、あちこちで物事を行うことを意味します。

I had a nice day pottering around the house.

家の周りをポタリングして楽しい一日を過ごしました。

The article I was reading was about beekeeping,

and what it used to be. “Men in veils pottering  

とその昔の様子についてのものでした。 「ベールをかぶった男たちが
