IMPROVE your ENGLISH with VIDEO GAMES!

Playing video games in English is a really fun  way to improve your speaking skills doesn't  

matter if you make mistakes doesn't matter  if your grammar is bad you just have fun  

but you do need good communication so today  let's learn how to play video games in English  

today I'm playing "Animal Royale" it's basically  fortnite but with cute animals it's free to play  

on Steam they don't sponsor me though so I don't  care if you download it and play it it is fun  

though and I'll be playing with my friend Marina  you might know her as "@Mudazukuri" on social media

- I'm an inventor. I make useless machines. For example: The machine that slaps your face with money  

to get motivated. I made over 200 useless inventions so far!

The basics! In all games, the weapons are pretty much the same let's go through them

This is what we'd call an AR that  stands for assault rifle but no one says that AR

this guy is a pistol this guy is a shotgun SMG  sniper rocket launcher but everyone just calls it  

an RPG and the things you put in those weapons are  called bullets you count those those are countable  

one bullet two bullets the uncountable version  of this is ammo I'm out of ammo for example  

so you both have a weapon but you need some  ammo how can you ask can you drop me some  

ammo to drop someone something in video games  to give someone something usually you have to  

drop it first so that is the question you need  to ask can you drop me some ammo can you drop me  

a weapon can you drop me some health depending on  the game you're playing and remember I said this  

"OUT OF AMMO!"

"To be out of something" it means you don't have any left

You're empty. You used it all.

I'm out of ammo I have no more ammo

she can't offer ammo, but she can offer a grenade! That's a grenade. And the short version in video games

we say "nade" "I can drop you some nades?!"

So you're both ready for a fight but then you see someone!  What can you say to your partner?

You can just say "I see someone!"

but if someone is actively fighting you, this is what you say:

"There's someone on me" "I've got someone on me" or easier

"Someone on me!"

so if you think your partner  is in trouble the question to ask is

"Is there someone on you?"

to check if they're  okay to check they're not in a fight

now usually if you're playing a team game you  don't kill someone instantly usually you just  

KNOCK them or DOWN them! Those are verbs and the whole sentence

I got the knock

"I got the knock on her" "I got the knock on this guy"

that means you didn't kill them they are just  in this state and probably their teammate is  

still alive trying to save his teammate so yeah  "I got the knock on her" or "I downed her"

"I downed that guy" notice that they could both be verbs  but in this case that one "KNOCK" can be a noun  

"I got the knock" / "I got a knock on this person"  but like I said her teammate is near so maybe  

he's gonna he is gonna...!!

He is gonna save his teammate  depending on the game giving health or just

*Holding hand over fallen teammate and miraculously they live again, like a sexy zombie!*

to bring them back to life to resurrect them  we usually shorten "RESURRECT" to "Res" this can  

be a verb like "I'm down please res me" or  it can be a noun "I'm getting the res!"  

You could also use the verb revive mostly we  just use that as a verb resume revive me  

when you win you get the W or  some people say the dub I don't  

um I don't even say w i i just say we won that's  awesome but some people say w some people say dub  

totally your choice I'm not here to tell you  how to have fun but if you lose you don't "GET"  

the L no no no you "TAKE" the L I don't know why  it just sounds more insulting like "Ha take the  L!"

and we also use this in real life sometimes  too if someone fails at something if someone  

hurts themself for example in real life someone  might say yeah that's a big L but either way at  

the end of the game say to your partner say to  your teammate GG or ggs and it means good game  

again this also is used in real life sometimes  usually sarcastically when there was a conflict  

or a fight and something funny happened for  example if you and your best friend like one girl  

but that girl chooses another guy and she wants  neither of you you might say "GGs" to be sarcastic  

I'm just saying you might hear this in real life  but maybe this is someone's first game maybe you  

need to teach them how to play a game if you need  to tell someone to press a button to do something  

that is press for a long time that's hold or hold  down this button and this that's tap and those are  

the same words depending if you play on a PC with  a keyboard or a console with a controller so now  

you've learned some new vocabulary it's time to  go and play video games to improve your English
