So we're going to look at four different arguments

हम चार अलग-अलग बहसों की ओर नज़र डालेंगे

and I'm going to act out the arguments.

और मैं उन बहसों को करने का नाटक करूँगा।

While I am acting out the arguments

जब मैं नाटक कर रहा होऊँगा

you will see words and phrases appear on the screen

that are the kinds of words and phrases we use

when we're having an argument.

So let's look at the first argument.

चलिये पहली बहस पर नज़र डालते हैं।

The first argument takes place between two people

पहली बहस दो लोगों के बीच होती है

where one of the people is denying that they did something.

जिसमें एक शख़्स इनकार कर रहा है कि उसने कुछ किया है।

This is a pretty common kind of argument to have,

इस तरह की बहस होना काफ़ी आम है।

especially between parents and young children.

ख़ासतौर पर माँ-बाप और छोटे बच्चों के बीच।

I was hungry so I went to the kitchen to eat a cookie

मैं भूखा था तो मैं कुकी खाने के लिये रसोई गया

but they're all gone.

लेकिन सब ख़त्म हो गई हैं।

Did you eat the last cookie?

क्या आख़िरी कुकी तुमने खाई है?

It wasn't me.

मैंने नहीं खाई।

I haven't had a cookie for days.

बहुत दिनों से मैंने कोई कुकी नहीं खाई।

It sounds yummy though.

लेकिन सोचने पर स्वादिष्ट लग रही है।

That doesn't make sense.

इसका कोई मतलब नहीं हुआ।

There are cookie crumbs all over the table in front of you.

तुम्हारे सामने पूरी मेज़ पर कुकी के टुकड़े बिखरे हुए हैं।

What, these?

क्या? ये?

These aren't from me.

ये मेरे नहीं हैं।

These were here when I sat down.

ये पहले से यहाँ थे जब मैं बैठा था।

I don't believe you.

मैं तुम्हारा विश्वास नहीं करता।

Who are they from then?

तो फिर वो किसके हैं?

I have no idea.

Maybe the crumbs are from you.

I saw you sitting here last night eating a cookie.

मैंने तुम्हें कल रात यहाँ बैठकर कुकी खाते हुए देखा था।

From me?

When I ate a cookie last night

जब मैंने कल रात कुकी खाई थी

there were still three left in the bag.

तब बैग में अभी भी तीन कुकी बची हुई थीं।

Calm down.

शांत हो जाओ।

I don't know who ate the last cookie.

मुझे नहीं पता आख़िरी कुकी किसने खाई।

I can't stand it when this happens.

मुझे बिल्कुल अच्छा नहीं लगता जब ऐसा होता हैं।

This is so aggravating.

मुझे ग़ुस्सा आ रहा है।

I hope you find the culprit.

मुझे उम्मीद है तुम मुजरिम का पता कर लोगे।

Well I hope you enjoyed that first argument

मुझे उम्मीद है आपको ये पहली बहस मज़ेदार लगी होगी

and were able to learn some English words

और आप इससे कुछ अंग्रेज़ी के शब्द और वाक्य सीख पाए होंगे।

and phrases from it.

Our second argument takes place between two people

हमारी दूसरी बहस दो लोगों के बीच घटती है

and they are going to be arguing about money.

और वे पैसे को लेकर बहस करेंगे।

Money is another one of those things

पैसा उन चीज़ों में से है

that people often have arguments about.

जिसके बारे में लोग अक्सर बहस करते हैं।

I think it's time to buy a new camera.

लगता है मुझे नया कैमरा ले लेना चाहिये।

This one is getting old.

ये वाला पुराना हो रहा है।

When did you buy it?

ये तुमने कब ख़रीदा था?

It doesn't seem that long ago to me.

मुझे नहीं लगता बहुत समय हुआ है।

Hmm let me see, I think it was last month.

सोचने दो, मेरे ख़्याल से पिछले महीने।

Yeah, it was last month.

हाँ, पिछले महीने ही।

It was on sale, it was a great deal.

ये सेल में था। बहुत ही बढ़िया सौदा था।

You must be joking.

तुम ज़रूर मज़ाक कर रहे हो।

You just bought it last month

तुमने इसे अभी पिछले महीने ही ख़रीदा था

and you already want to buy a new one?

और तुम्हें फिर से नया चाहिये?

Yeah, why not?

हाँ, क्यों नहीं?

This one doesn't have all the features that I want.

इसमें वो सारी खूबियाँ नहीं हैं जो मुझे चाहिये।

Do you realize you still owe me money?

तुम्हें मालूम है या नहीं कि तुम्हें मुझे पैसे वापस करने हैं?

I lent you $100 last week.

मैंने तुम्हें पिछले हफ़्ते $100 उधार दिये थे।

I can't believe you're thinking about buying a new camera

मुझे विश्वास नहीं हो रहा तुम नया कैमरा लेने की सोच रहे हो

when you still haven't paid me back.

जबकि तुमने मुझे अभी तक पैसे वापस नहीं लौटाए।

It really gets on my nerves when you do things like that.

मुझे बहुत ग़ुस्सा आता है जब तुम ऐसा कुछ करते हो।

I thought I already paid you back.

मुझे लगा मैं तुम्हें पहले ही पैसे वापस लौटा चुका हूँ।

Didn't I give you the money last week?

क्या मैंने तुम्हें पिछले हफ़्ते पैसे नहीं दिये थे?

No you didn't.

नहीं, तुमने नहीं दिये थे।

Yes I did.

हाँ, दिये थे।

No you didn't.

नहीं, नहीं दिये थे।

I'm so annoyed.

मैं बहुत नाराज़ हूँ।

You always do things like this.

तुम हमेशा ऐसा करते हो।

You borrow money from me and then you never pay me back.

तुम मुझसे पैसे उधार लेते हो और फिर कभी वापस नहीं लौटाते।

That's not completely true.

ये बात पूरी तरह से सच नहीं है।

I do pay you back, sometimes it just takes awhile,

मैं तुम्हें वापस करता हूँ, बस कभी-कभी थोड़ा समय लग जाता है

and I did pay back that $100 that I owed you.

It was last week when you were dropping me off at work,

I handed you $100 as I got out of the car.

Oh that's right.

By the way, can I borrow some money?

I'd like to buy a new camera.

मैं नया कैमरा ख़रीदना चाहता हूँ।

You can't be serious.

तुम ज़रूर मज़ाक कर रहे हो।

Well that was the second argument and it was about money.

ये थी दूसरी बहस और वो पैसों को लेकर थी।

Money often seems to cause arguments between people.

पैसा अक्सर लोगों के बीच बहस करवाता है।

But let's look at our third argument.

चलिये तीसरी बहस पर नज़र डालते हैं।

Our third argument takes place

तीसरी बहस एक पिता और एक लड़के के बीच घटती है।

between a parent and a teenager.

There are often arguments between parents and teenagers

माँ-बाप और लड़के-लड़कियों के बीच अक्सर बहसें होती हैं

in every language.

हर भाषा में।

You can't go out with your friends tonight,

तुम आज रात अपने दोस्तों के साथ बाहर नहीं जा सकते।

it's Grandpa's birthday today and we're going

आज दादा का जन्मदिन है और आज रात हम दादा-दादी के घर रात के खाने के लिये जा रहे हैं।

to Grandma and Grandpa's house tonight for dinner.

Really?

सच में?

Unbelievable.

यकीन नहीं होता।

Why are you just telling me about this now?

आप इस बारे में अब बता रहे हैं?

My friends and I were planning

मैं और मेरे दोस्त नई अवैनजर्स मूवी देखने का प्लान बना रहे थे।

to go see the new Avengers movie.

We've been talking about this all week.

हम हफ़्ते भर से इस बारे में बात कर रहे हैं।

I can't back out now.

मैं अब पीछे नहीं हट सकता।

I told you last week that we were going

मैंने तुम्हें पिछले हफ़्ते ही बताया था कि आज हम दादा-दादी के यहाँ जाने वाले हैं।

to visit Grandpa and Grandma today.

No you didn't.

नहीं, आपने नहीं बताया।

Yes I did.

हाँ, मैंने बताया था।

In fact, I mentioned it every day this week at breakfast

यहाँ तक कि इस हफ़्ते हर रोज़ नाश्ते के दौरान मैंने इसका ज़िक्र किया है

before you left for school.

This is totally unfair.

I have no recollection of you telling me this at all.

You just never hear what I'm saying to you

because you always have your headphones on

and your music is always a little bit too loud

That's a lie, I don't always have them on.

Well you have them on a lot

you're usually not paying attention to me

Well I hope when you were a teenager

you didn't argue too much with your parents.

But let's move on to our fourth argument.

चलिये चौथी बहस की ओर रुख़ करते हैं।

Our fourth argument takes place between two people

चौथी बहस दो लोगों के बीच घटती है

who are talking about the sport of football,

जो फ़ुटबॉल के खेल के बारे में बात कर रहे हैं

or as we like to call it in Canada, soccer.

या जैसे हम इसे कनाडा में कहते हैं, सॉकर।

Who do you think is the best football player of all time?

तुम्हें क्या लगता है आज तक का सबसे अच्छा फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी कौन है?

Definitely Messi.

बेशक मैसी।

He's like magic on the field and if you think about it

वो मैदान पर जादू की तरह है और अगर इस बारे में सोचो तो

he's such a great team player.

वो बहुत ही अच्छा टीम प्लेयर भी है।

Hmm that's a good point but I would pick Ronaldo.

अच्छा ख़्याल है लेकिन मैं रोनाल्डो को चुनूँगा।

He has such an explosive and aggressive playing style.

उसका खेलने का अंदाज़ कितना धमाकेदार और आक्रामक है।

The other team never knows what to do with him.

दूसरी टीम कभी नहीं पता होता उससे कैसे निपटें।

He's unstoppable.

वो बेरोक है।

I think on that front though you could make the argument

मेरे ख़्याल से इस हिसाब से तो ये भी कहा जा सकता है कि

that Messi is just as good, if not better.

मैसी भी उतना ही अच्छा है अगर बेहतर नहीं है तो।

In the last game where I watched him play

जब मैंने उसे पिछले मुकाबले में खेलते हुए देखा था

he scored two points because the other team

तब उसने दो पॉइंट स्कोर किये थे

क्योंकि दूसरी टीम उससे गेंद ही नहीं ले पाई।

could not get the ball away from him.

Hmm I'm still not convinced though.

पर मैं अभी भी सहमत नहीं हूँ।

Once Ronaldo has the ball he owns it.

जब रोनाल्डो के पास गेंद होती है, वो उसी की हो जाती है।

He's such a great physical and technical player

वो शारीरिक और तकनीकी तौर पर बहुत ही अच्छा खिलाड़ी है

that the other team has trouble pushing him off the ball.

जिससे दूसरी टीम को गेंद लेने में मुश्किल होती है।

Plus, have you seen how high he can jump

और क्या तुमने देखा है वो कितना ऊँचा उछल सकता है

when he needs to head the ball?

जब उसे सर से गेंद मारनी होती है?

It is out of this world.

एकदम लाजवाब।

In my opinion being able to jump high and head the ball

मेरे ख़्याल में ऊँचा उछलकर सर से गेंद मार पाना

is not a good measure of a player's overall abilities.

किसी खिलाड़ी की काबिलियत का अच्छा माप नहीं है।

Besides wouldn't you rather have a player like Messi,

और क्या तुम नहीं चाहोगे कि तुम्हारे पास मैसी जैसा कोई खिलाड़ी हो

who's able to control the ball and move quickly

जो गेंद को काबू करके

मैदान में तेज़-तेज़ उसके साथ ऊपर नीचे-भागे?

up and down the field with it?

Sure, but the way I see it, it's just one more tool

बिल्कुल लेकिन जैसा मेरा ख़्याल है,

ये रोनाल्डो की एक और ख़ूबी है जो उसे अच्छा खेलने में मदद करती है।

in Ronaldo's tool box that allows him to make great plays.

You have to admit though, that Messi excels

लेकिन तुमको मानना पड़ेगा कि मैसी पूरा मैदान कवर करने में माहिर है।

at covering the whole field.

He sometimes plays defense and helps his team

वो कभी-कभी डिफैंस खेलता है और अपनी टीम की बुरी हालत से निकलने में मदद करता है।

get out of a bad situation.

True, but that's not his job.

सच है लेकिन ये उसका काम नहीं है।

At least Ronaldo's team plays really good defense

कम से कम रोनाल्डो की टीम अच्छा डिफैंस खेलती है

and allows him to stay in a good scoring position

और उसको हमेशा अच्छा स्कोर करने की स्थिति में रखती है।

all the time.

You know what?

I don't think you are going to convince me.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree.
